History of Brain Improvement
The human brain is the most complex entity in theuniverse. From the time when man first begin to
depend on his mind for coping with his environment, the possession of a powerful mind has been the step
to positions of command and respect.
The Baby¶s Brain : When a baby is born, her braincomes equipped with approximately 100 billionneurons, or nerve cells. With each new experience, this baby's neurons will form neural networks thatwill transmit information involved in feeling, sensing, thinking, and learning. Her brain will growat an astonishing rate during these early years, nearly tripling in weight by her third birthday!

History of Brain Improvement
The Children¶s Brain : A child's brain is ripe for learning! Neuroscientists have discovered thatbetween toddlerhood and puberty, brain metabolism,as measured by blood sugar consumption, remains
very high. The synaptic net of axons and dendrites isthick and ready to absorb new experiences. Manyresearchers believe that certain skills are easiest tolearn during this time. A dramatic example is theability to learn language before the age of ten.
Children's brains can soak up new words in boththeir native language and in another language theyfrequently hear .

History of Brain Improvement
The Adolescent Brain : Adolescence is a time filled
with changes, both physical and emotional. The
adolescent brain is no exception. It is now
commonly believed that the brain of an
adolescent is much more dynamic than
previously thought. The changing physical
features that are obvious on the outside of an
adolescent are also taking place inside their brain. At various times during childhood and into
adolescence, new synapses are made and then
pared down, producing more mature brain
structures.

History of Brain Improvement
The Adult Brain : As an adult, the most important traitof the brain is its plasticity. Plasticity is the ability of the brain to adapt in response to new experiences. As an adult, there are often a limitless number of new things to contend with: new jobs, marriage,
children, financial responsibilities, new friends, etc.New findings on the adult brain establish twoprinciples. First, the adult brain continues to growand develop throughout our entire life. Second, braindevelopment in adulthood is shaped mostly byoutside stimuli.
The Aging Brain : Aging does NOT always lead to apronounced decline and loss of cognitive ability.Much to the contrary, many older adults live acreative and productive life to the end.
