When he was born

Christopher Columbus was born 1451-1506.

Columbus lived in Genoa Spain. He is the oldest out of

five children. His family was poor, he only got an

education tell he was fourteen.

Columbus first voyages

Captain Columbus took three ship on his first

voyage,the Nina, Pitas and and Santa Maria. His

crew came from surrounding Villages such as Lepe

and Moguer

Impact on us

Columbus discovered the coast of South America. He

also discovered west India, Central America,

Bahamas, Cuba, Haiti

When columbus started on a ship

Columbus first job on a ship was a messenger and a

sailer on trading vessels. Then he came fascinated

with ship and the scince of navigation.

Interesting facts

Columbus went to sea at the age of 14. He found

food such as pineapple, sweet ptatoes and corn. He

used sand glass to know how fast he was going.

Who sent his

When Columbus decided to sail for the first time he

hoped to sail under the flag of Portugal. On August

2, 1492, Columbus set sail in search of the East

Indies. The voyage was financed by Ferdinand and

Isabella.

What they ate on there voyages

Rhey mostly ate boiled food was served in a large

wooden bowl. It consisted of poorly cooked meat

with bones in it, the sailors picked it with their

fingers as they had no forks or spoons. The larger

pieces of meat were cut with the knife each sailor

carried. Fish was eaten most often. On calm days,

the crew would fish and then cook their catch.

Columbus holiday

Ever sence columbus found the new world they had a

ceremony that was held in New York City honoring

Christopher Columbus and the 300th anniversary of

his landing in the Bahamas. Then, on October 12,

1866

The space below the deck was used for food, tools,

ropes, extra sails, cannon balls, guns and other

supplies

What they did on there off time

Columbus told all his men when they where not

working to go and catch fresh fish so they would

not get sick from eating old fish
