The LoftDeath Pavilion Wellness House

I started my design journey after being challenged by a Landscape Architect friend to change the world through good design. Not knowing where to begin, my brother and I started a landscape business in highschool. This quickly taught me hard work and grit. As my responsibilites grew, I realized the core of good design is helping others, so I explored ways I could help more people. I knew the majority of people spend their lives indoors, so I began to seek ways to change interiors. I did this by pursuing Interior Design, where I have learned that all space should promote wellness, inspiration, and happiness. These three attributes increase productivity, collaboration, and health. I am different after learning about the history, elements, and principles of design because it has changed my perspective on appreciating good design. Since the core of this career is helping others, my goals are to see from others perspectives, to solve problems faster, and to learn when and how to ask the right questions. Keeping this in mind, I will continue to take advantage of every opportunity which will help me on my mission to change the world through good design.

WHERE YOU BEGIN DOESN’T DETERMINE WHERE YOU FINISH.

DREAMS DON’T WORK UNLESS YOU DO.

DEATH PAVILIONThe death pavilion was inspired from Central American pyramids constructed for Aztec death rituals. The monument appeassed the gods. The significance of the massive scale of these pyramids was essential in commanding respect and fear. This building accomplishes the goal of creating a modern version of the Aztec pyramid.

The odd shape of the death pavilion was inspired by the original shape of the pyramids, just reversed to offer more space in the ceremony room as opposed to the ground floor. During the Aztec period, pyramids were the tallest structures in a city, since the sacrifice had to be the near the gods. That requirement was met in the design of this pavilion.

WELLNESS HOUSE

WELLNESS EVOKES PRESTIGE. Fitness regimes, healthy grocery stores, and participation in activities like 5k’s and yoga classes are at an all-time high.

People carry this passion with them when they go into the workplace, and designers can continue this theme in the

residential built environment. This is the future. This is the benefit of being bold.

The Wellness House was designed with full creative freedom for a family who wants a home which promotes healthy behavior and encourages an active regime. The family further wants to discover new ways to promote their healthy lifestyle goals within each space of the home.

THE LOFT

This remodel integrates Japanese heritage to create a functional loft space while maintaining an exclusive, high-end style. This loft remodel will provide the client with space to entertain co-workers, family and friends, a rental apartment for income, and to integrate universal design to cater his upstairs apartment to accommodate a larger mix of tenants.

I have a deep passion for landscape design. There is

nothing more rewarding than stepping back from a project and seeing the impact of my

aesthetic and functional design solution. The process takes work,

it’s hard. It usually demands more from me than I expect it to,

but the satisfaction of knowing that I did an excellent job while

using my clients resources to the best of my ability inspires

me. Through jobs such as graveling driveways, installing fence lines, constructing sheds,

and landscaping flowerbeds, I am thankful to first hand

understand the whole process from bidding a job, contracting

the project, overseeing installation and construction, communicating with clients through the process, and post installation evaluation.

While I look forward to learning more about this process, I am proud of my accomplishments

and am grateful for the relationships I have made through

such projects.
