King City PS Email Information: Thursday, Oct 12, 2017 Dear families, This letter is to inform you that, as a precaution, our school initiated a hold and secure today around 2:50 pm on the advice of the York Regional Police. During a hold and secure we confirm that all exterior doors are locked and the regular activities in the school continue. The hold and secure was lifted on the advice of the police at 3:15 pm and our dismissal was not affected. I would like to reassure you that all necessary and appropriate measures to protect student and staff safety were taken. The hold and secure was a precautionary measure. SPECTATORS FOR AFTER SCHOOL EVENTS When we have an after school sporting event, we remind parents that students can only stay to watch if they have parent supervision. We do not have teacher supervision at these events – the teachers who are present are coaching and refereeing and they are not responsible for the spectators. Thank you for your support.

HELMETS! We have noticed that not all students are wearing helmets when they ride their bike to school! According to the Ontario Ministry of Transportation website, by law, every cyclist under age 18 must wear an approved helmet. Riders under 16 years old: a parent or guardian must make sure their child wears a helmet. http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/safety/pdfs/young-cyclist-guide.pdf
