Congratulations on Attaining the Rank of Eagle Scout

October 30, 2013

Mike Schuch

Dear Mike,

Your mom, your sister and I want to congratulate you again

on becoming an Eagle Scout.

I remember talking to you about becoming a Boy Scout way

back when you were a Cub Scout. You enjoyed being a Cub

Scout and going through the program, from Tiger Cub

through the Arrow of Light. You were very excited to cross

over into the Boy Scouts and looked forward to all of the

exciting new things the scouting program had to offer.

You took on the challenges of scouting and set your sights on

the top, becoming an Eagle Scout. You enjoyed going up the

scout ladder with each advancement in rank. You had fun

with each merit badge, learning and experiencing new

things. And when you earned the opportunity to sign-off on

rank advancement requirements of the younger scouts, I

watched with pride as you talked to and coached the scout

and helped him also advance. I smiled because I remember

when you were one of the “younger” scouts and an older

scout was helping you up the ladder. Always remember that.

Page 15: Boy Scouts of America ·  · 01-05-2014 Presentation of the Colors, Pledge of Allegiance, Scout Oath and Law Tyler Murray, Senior Patrol Leader ... Ethan Hufnagl Citizenship in the

Mike, you have grown from a little boy into a young man. You have learned many new things on the road to becoming an Eagle Scout. I know at times, things were tough. But if it were easy, it wouldn’t be as special, it wouldn’t mean as much. And learning how to navigate through the tough times helped you grow and become the person that you are. I think that you learned a lot about yourself. You have developed many skills through scouting that you will use for the rest of your life. Always live your life with the Scout law in the back of your mind. It is a great guide.

I can’t tell you enough how proud we all are. And I am sure you are very proud also. This is a great accomplishment. Not everyone ends their Scout journey in this place. And there is no doubt in our minds that you will accomplish anything that you set your mind to do.

From one Eagle Scout to another, welcome to the top. Enjoy the view.

We love you very much,

Mom, Nic and Dad

P.S. Oh yeah, it’s probably a good thing the maximum age to obtain the rank of Eagle is 18 and not 19. Otherwise, your scout shirt, which was huge on you 7 years ago when you joined, would fit more like a vest.

Dear Kenny,

Congratulations dear son on becoming an Eagle Scout. We are so proud of what you accomplished and who you have become in achieving this rank. Your journey was not always easy, but you worked hard to achieve this rank in Boy Scouts.

You started out as a Tiger Cub in Cub Scouts and embraced all the work it took to become an Eagle Scout. After joining Troop 318, it took you five years to achieve the rank of Eagle.

You had fun attending the weekly meetings and the adventures on the camping trips, especially going to Camp Ransburg in the summer. Helping the younger scouts with their advancements, we think, you enjoyed the most. The patience you had with them showed that you are a born teacher.

You showed your leadership and responsibility when you were a Patrol Leader as well as when you would teach fire making and axe safety. You used the same dedication when it came to each merit badge and rank advancement.

Through your path to Eagle, we have seen you grow and mature into a fine young man. You are a young adult who cares about scouting, all the leaders, and his fellow scouts.

We know you will have a wonderful future ahead of you. We wish you the best of everything and will always be there for you.

Congratulations again Kenny, we love you so much!

Dear Kyle,

Your father and I are so proud of all you’ve accomplished. We always knew we wanted you to experience the scouting program because of our involvement in scouting when we were young.

To achieve the rank of Eagle Scout is outstanding. I remember our talks and you stating that you wanted to become an Eagle Scout just like your father. I knew that if you put your mind to it you could make it a reality and you did. At just 15 years old you have achieved something that you can be proud of for the rest of your life.

Since you started as a Tiger Cub 10 years ago, we watched as you overcame any hurdle that was put in front of you from earning your first belt loop and pin as a Cub Scout to earning your first merit badge and rank as a Boy Scout.

Being an Eagle Scout brings with it a lot of responsibilities. Your fellow scouts will look to you for your knowledge, and as you get older your wisdom. They will come to you with question after question, just like you did when you started your journey in the scouting program as a young boy.

And it doesn’t stop here. Your mom and I hope that you will continue your journey in scouting and that one day you will be as proud of your son as we are of you.

Congratulations, we love you very much.

Congratulations Alex!!! You are an Eagle Scout. My baby boy, you have grown up way too fast. It seems like not that long ago, you could not even see over the kitchen counter and I would tell you to stay that size forever. But, I was wrong in telling you to stop growing and you have taught me that it was far better to see you get bigger, and become a mature young man. Today, you are receiving scouting’s highest honor.

I am extremely proud of the journey you have taken, and the young man that you are today.

As a leader and as a dad, I have had the great fortune of seeing each of your steps and I want to thank you for letting me tag along. I wish that I could be at your side forever. But, again I must come to the realization that I am wrong in thinking this way. You have learned valuable life skills that will carry you on your way. Always remember that scouting has influenced who you are today and continue to live the Scout Oath and Law.

Alex, never stop growing. Spread your wings and show the world that it is a far better place because you are in it. Cherish each day that you have and make a difference in other’s lives. Know that you can achieve anything that you desire with hard work and determination. One day, I hope you will also come to know the joy in my heart that you have given me today.

I love you, with alllllll my heart.

Love you, Dad

Dear Alex,

Alexander Joseph Sandoval, you were born on February 10th, 1997, at 7:32 a.m., weighing 8lbs, 12ozs. Even after countless hours of labor, I thought to myself, OMG how could you be that big. Well, I often told you that you were my Butterball Turkey because you were so big. But 17 years, 2 months, and 21 days have passed and as tears well in my eyes, I now know why you weighed so much....

You have a BIG HEART:

I am so proud that you have earned your Eagle Scout Award because Alexander Joseph you are:

Eager

Ambitious

Generous

Lovable

Excellent

Smart

Courageous

Outstanding

Undeniably Awesome

Thoughtful

That my baby boy of 17 years later has achieved the highest award in Scouting, it is no surprise to me. As I know, when you put your big heart, mind, and God-given talents together, you can conquer the world and achieve the highest awards in anything that you want to do.

I am amazed and proud of my Alexander Joseph (my Butterball Turkey), born on February 10th, 1997, at 8lbs, 12ozs, and I would have to say that every day in the Sandoval household is Thanksgiving! Nick, Anthony, Dad, and I thank God every day for such a Wonderful, Giving, and Loving Brother and Son.

FOREVER LOVED AND YOUR BIGGEST, BIGGEST SUPPORTER

Love you always, MOM!!!!!!

To My Son Rick,

I could tell you how proud of you I am, how

much I admire your hard work, effort and dedication.

I could tell you how much I respect the young man

you’ve become — the compassion and kindness I see you

show everyone around you.

I could tell you how your sense of humor and your

outlook on life just makes me smile.

But since I live everyday with you in my heart, I hope

you know that my love is forever.

Dear Rick,

Congratulations on becoming an Eagle Scout! I hope you know how very proud I am of you.

It almost seems surreal, that 10 years have gone by since you entered this scouting family. From your first day as a little Tiger Cub Scout to an Eagle Scout, your growth has been remarkable. In many ways, even as a young child, you were always serious and goal oriented, so it wasn’t much of a surprise that you completed your Cub Scout achievements and earned the Arrow of Light award. However, even when your den dwindled down to just you and Joseph Jaeger, you still hung in there and by crossing over, again made a commitment to scouting.

The past 4 years have really flown by and I’m so impressed with the young man you are today. Scouting has certainly helped to shape you into the mature, responsible person I see today. I smile as I remember all the hikes, service projects and merit badges you completed. (Thank goodness we had the Jaegers — their guidance and encouragement often propelled you along!)

I’m so glad you served as a Den Chief for your brother’s den for the past 4 years. It gave me an opportunity to see how helpful and patient you are now when working with younger scouts. I appreciate your tenacity and drive to complete what you start. The path to Eagle is long and arduous at times. I love that you don’t give up, and that you try to make the best of whatever situation comes your way. I know your project didn’t go quite the way you wanted, but you saw it through, and the veterans have benefited from your hard work. I respect your patriotism and love of country. I can only imagine the wonderful contributions you’ll make as you get older.

Above all else, I admire your sense of integrity. You truly do your best every day. I honestly don’t know many students who could maintain straight A’s in AP/honors classes, play sports year-round, donate time to service projects, stay active in church and youth group and earn the rank of Eagle Scout.

I’m grateful that you are confident and secure in being yourself. You know who you are and you’re not swayed by peer pressure. Indeed not all adults are as comfortable in their own skin as you are at 15. You are one remarkable kid, Rick. Words cannot describe how much I love you and how proud I am of you!

Love always, Mom

Be careful with fire. I will prevent wildfire. I will build my fires only where they are appropriate. When I have finished using a fire, I will make sure it is cold out. I will leave a clean fire ring, or remove all evidence of my fire.

Be considerate in the outdoors. I will treat public and private property with respect. I will use low-impact methods of hiking and camping.

Be conservation minded. I will learn how to practice good conservation of soil, waters, forests, minerals, grasslands, wildlife and energy. will urge others to do the same.

Scout Vespers (A Tradition with Troop 318)

Everyone in attendance is invited to join in with members of the Troop in singing this campfire song.

Please join hands after crossing arms, right arm over left arm

To the tune of "O Tannenbaum"

Softly falls the light of day, As our campfire fades away.

Silently each Scout should ask Have I done my daily task?

Have I kept my honor bright? When I go to sleep tonight,

Have I done and have I dared Everything to Be Prepared?

Scoutmaster’s Benediction May the great Scoutmaster of all

true Scouts be with us until we meet again. Good Night Scouts.
