Community Connections Last night, I had the privilege of meeting with the parents of Little Lane on Station St, Box Hill, as part of their very first parent information evening.  Little Lane officially opened last year and is creating some amazing things with their staff with a holistic approach to the development of their children.  Johanna from Year 5 accompanied me and was able to offer insight into the strength of our buddy program to support the transition of young people into the primary setting.  Johanna spoke with confidence and genuine interest in the role that she and her peers contribute to the mentorship of Preps.  It was most enjoyable hearing her speak and engage with a room full of unfamiliar adults.  Well done, Johanna.
Open Day We look forward to hosting our Open Day on Sunday as a way to showcase the many great things that happen at Box Hill North.  Fingers are crossed that the weather holds up for tomorrow’s twilight working bee.  Our students will be busy after lunch helping tidy up our grounds and there will be opportunity for lots of little jobs such as planting out small spaces to enhance outdoor learning spaces.   Sporting Teams Good luck to our basketball kids who have made it to the grand final this weekend.  We wish you well and know you’ll proudly represent your team.  Good luck also to our senior students as they compete in tomorrow’s interschool gala day.  It has been a long time since students have been able to participate at this level and it should be lots of fun.  Go Box Hill North!

Concert Helpers Needed
Hello Box Hill North Community!   For those of you who don't know me, I am Kelly (Ms Wild) - 5/6 teacher and also coordinator for this year's concert!
The date for the concert has been set (Tuesday the 20th July) and preparations have already began. This is a call-out for concert helpers.  We need to create teams for costumes, props and hair/make-up and there are jobs to suit all interests and skill levels in these areas.  As well as assisting the school in a worthy project for our students, it is also a way for parents and carers to make new connections within the school community. If you are interested, please email me (email below) with your area of interest (costume, props, or hair/makeup), any helpful background information, as well as your child's name/grade. I look forward to hearing from you. Kelly Wild [email protected]

Looking for Donations
Kinder has had a wonderful start to the year, with lots of new and returning faces, we can’t wait to get to know all the new families this year. We also have a couple of big projects that we are looking to launch this year. Our first being our kinder lending library. Families will be able to access and borrow books from kinder. We know how important reading to children is while they are young and how much being read to can assist children in developing their language skills before school.
We are therefore seeking any donations of preloved books appropriate for kinder children from our school community. If you have any books that you would like to donate to the kindergarten to get our lending library up and running please drop them off to the kinder foyer at your convenience.
