This guide is for the third Mario and Luigi RPG game on the DS. This guide wasoriginally made from the Japanese version of the game, but I never wrote it intime and by the time I did finish, the English version was coming soon so I haddecided to wait for the English version before releasing it. So that is whythere may (and probably will) be areas where item/boss/enemy names aredifferent... That means I have probably missed it or am not up to it yet.Please tell me if you see any!

Mario and Luigi's Latest Quest {WALK-01}================================================================================++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++MUSHROOM KINGDOM (MARIO & LUIGI)++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++- After the opening scenes, you gain control. Press A to make Mario jump, Bmakes Luigi jump. Go up to the next area.

- Jump up to the platforms in each corner and there are 4 ? blocks. Jump tobreak them.

- Enter the castle and save your game if you want to.- On the left of the save point is another ? block, break that, then enter theroom on the right.

- Watch the scene, and then have a tutorial battle with Bowser.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Attacks: Fire - Jump to avoid Err... it's not even a boss battle, just follow the prompts. After that, keepjumping on him and jumping over fire.

- After the battle, there's another scene, and then you gain control of Bowser.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++WOODS (BOWSER)++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++- Press Y to breathe fire as Bowser, and press X to punch. A and B do nothing.

- Move to the next map, and punch the rocks you see to break them.- There are three paths for you to go: east, south, and southwest. Proceedsouth.

- Use your flames to burn the trees blocking your way and go right.- Walk forward a bit and you'll reach a scene.- After the scene, you change control back to Mario.

- Go right.

- If you fall into the yellow stuff in the floor here, you'll be sent through apipe back to the start of the room, so be careful.

- Jump across a few platforms up them to a ? block. - Keep jumping across the platforms until you reach the end where there is astrange block (an Emoglobin). He'll let you save and give you hints.

- Jump the a ? block you see below you. - Climb back up to the emoglobin and proceed to the next room.

- After the scene, jump down and enter the red pipe on the right. Shoot out ofit and hit a ! block to reveal another pipe.

- Enter the new pipe, and hit another ! block, and you'll save Starlow.- Now for another tutorial battle, this one teaches you about counterattacks.- After the battle, jump up the platforms on the right to the next room.

- Hit the emoglobin to save.- Jump up the platforms, break the two ? blocks you see.

- Fall down the next gap, fight the Saibo, and enter the yellow pipe.

- The emoglobin here will restore you HP and SP if you hit it.- Continue down the linear path, and there's a ? block. - There's another ? block just before the exit.

- It's Luigi! Jump from underneath him to save him, and another battle occurs.- This battle tells you Luigi uses the B button... duh...- Enter the green pipe to head to the next room.

- Save again if you need to.- Follow the path to another ? block. - Enter the next room.

- Walk right, jump up the grey platforms for another ? block. - Jump to the right, over the yellow stuff and into the next room.

- Step on the elevator, and time your jumps to move the elevator up.- It's just A, B, A, B, etc.- Enter the next room.

- You'll find a crate with a hammer on it.- Save again if you need to.- You can't get it yet, so proceed right into the next room.

- Jump over the gap, hitting the A block gets you the Attack Parts for thisarea.

- Jump over the next gap, break the ? block. - Enter the next room.

- Break the all A blocks here: one in front of you, two below you, one in thebottom right corner, one on the right, and the last three along the top.

- Jump up the platforms and go through the upper left exit.

- Break the last A block. - This gives you a new special attack. Enter a battle tutorial for your newmove. You have to use it to finish the battle.

- Once that's over, continue left.

- Back in this room, but on an upper level.- Hit the ! block, you fall and break the hammer crate, and you ge the hammer.- Press R to switch between the hammer and jumping, use the hammer to break thecrates in your way, and continue through the lower right exit.

- Fall down, break any crates in your way.- Go all the way right, and use you hammer to hit the red switch.- Break the rock that fall with the hammer, and you'll have a battle tutorialwith two Spike Blops on how to use the hammer in battle.

- Enter the pipe that appears after the battle, and shoot up to the platform.- Go right to the next room.

- Break the ? block here. - Continue though the hallway, killing enemies, and another ? block.

- And you're now in the main 'world map' area for Mario and Luigi!

- Go down and right, to the Mushroom Plaza.- Here, you can buy items (right), and recover HP and SP (lower right).- Once you done, exit and enter Funny Bone.

- Go right to the next screen.

- You learn how to switch control between Mario & Luigui and Bowser. Stay withBowser for now.

- Break the rocks in your way with X.- If you go to the northern side of the area, you'll see a metal balls fallingdown. Time your punch so that you hit the ball on to the switch to open thegates.

- Go to the next area.

- Go left, and you'll find a spiderweb, but since Bowser doesn't have his

flame, you can't burn it down yet.- Keep going up to the next area.

- Save if you want.- Walk onto the big block, and it'll start moving.- Punch any blocks that get in your way to prevent yourself from being pushedoff.

- Once on safe ground again, go right and punch the item block.

- Go right to the next room.

- Walk right and after the scene, you face a battle with Midbus.

--------------- BOSS BATTLE: ----------------------------------------------------------------- BOWSER vs. MIDBUS HP: ?? EXP: 0 COINS: 0 DROPS: None-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Attacks: Rotating Attack - Punch when in range Another tutorial battle, you won't have any trouble. Actually, you wont even need to kill him.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- After the battle, go down the stairs on the right and to the next area.

- From now on, whenever you see smaller enemies, just walk into the them andyou'll kill them.

- Continue a little bit, and break an item block on the right. - And one down south. - You'll be blocked if you try to go down the right path, so go through theleft path down to the next area.

- Work you way down the stairs to the bottom. Getting two item blocks along theway.


- After the scene, you can now use the portals to quickly travel between areas.- Go right to the next area.

- Enter the cave here to the next area.

- You can read the rock slab here for some directions.- The tunnel past the door is still under construction, and if you try to goup, you're blocked aswell. So take the only remaining path to Plack Beach.

- Break the item block. - Save if you need to.- You can burn a tree here to reveal another portal (come back when you haveyour fire).

- Head up to the next area.

- Just running in to the enemies here will defeat them.- Ride the raft on the right right, by punching left go to the next area.

- There are walls to the east and south, punch the one to the south.

- Punch right at the line of coins to go back.

- Proceed north, grabbing the item block. - There's another two paths here: west and north.- Try going west and it's a dead end, so go north.

- After the scene, you'll switch back to Mario and Luigi.

Timeyour hammer swings to deflect them. Deflect red orbs with Mario, and greenones with Luigi.

- Once you're done with that, you'll change back to Bowser.

EXP: 30 COINS: 19 DROPS: None-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Attacks: Coin Block - Does nothing Recovery Mushroom Block - Restores 30HP (Bowser's HP) Giant Mushroom Block - Punch it to deflect it Broque Monsieur pulls out a block and breaks them to attack. If a coinappears, nothing happens. If recovery mushroom appears, just stand there andtake the mushroom. If a giant mushroom appears, he grows charges at you.

Time your punch to hit him, and his body flies away. When only his headremains, keep punching it to get coins.

- After the battle, there two more paths: west and north.- There's an Toothy if you go west, but it's a dead end.- Go north to the next area.

- Break the item block at the top, near the exit. - Go north to the next area.

- Go up to an item block hidden behind some leaves. - Go north to the next area.

- Save if you need to.- Go north to the next area.

- After the scene, you'll have a boss battle.

DROPS: Hot Drumstick-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Attacks: Blooper Attack 1 - Punch to counter Blooper Attack 2 - Punch to counter This statue attacks with bloopers, and there are two types: - Blooper flies straight at Bowser - Blooper flies around in a circle first, then at Bowser If the pipe is pointing left, the blooper flies straight at Bowser. if thepipe is point to the upper-left, it flies around in a circle first, then atBowser.

Normally, you cannot damage this boss with your punches. Your punches willonly have effect after the boss returns from Bowser's stomach, and theblooper is stuck to it.

You'll have to vacuum it...

Jump and Attacks - Counter with hammer When he drills the ground, this does 8 damage to Bowser. And when he jumps upand flies at Mario, if you sucessfully counterattack, you'll send him back toBowser's location.

- Go to the newly opened area.- Time your presses of A and B and you'll be able to swim.- Swim up to the platform above and go to the next area.

- Save

- Break two ? blocks here. - Enter the middle pipe of the three pipes.

- Break the ? block. Then a series of five M and Ls will appear, remember them.Use Mario (M) and Luigi (L) to hit the block in the correct order.

- Go back up the pipe.

- When the area is filled with water, the enemies here become Bubble Bloopers,if the water is emptied, they become Dried Blooper.

- Continue right.

- Hit the A block. - When you proceed, there is a wall your left blocking a switch.- Switch to Bowser, and make him stop drinking water.- Switch back to Mario and you can continue, hit the switch with your hammer,and a platform on the right disappears.

- Walk right to another wall blocking you.- Now, switch to Bowser again and drink so Mario can swim up.- Make Bowser stop drinking again so you can hit the other switch.

- Before heading into that pipe, make Bowser drink again and enter a pipe inupper right corner.

- Follow the path to the bottom left where there is are two ? blocks.

- Continue left to the room before.

- Hit the ? blocks. - Continue further left and hit the switch on the left with your hammer, and aplatform above disappears.

- There's a save point up there, so use it if you need to.- Either way, swim up and go right to the room you came from.

- Now enter the pipe that appeared earlier.

- There's another save point here.- Go right to the next map.

- Swim up and there two A blocks. - Swim up the other way and you'll come to a fork with a path to the north andone to the northwest. The northwest one is a dead end, so go north.

- There's an A block up here. - Continue to the next room.

- Ignore everything and go right to the next room.

- Hit a ! block in the upper right, and the wall disappears.- Go right to the next room.

- Hit the A block. - Hit a ? block in the upper right.


- Swim up and hit a ? block. - Hit a switch on the right with your hammer, and a black and red ball appears.Push it all the way to the left, and the Chombone breaks the ground under it.

- Continue down and right to a ? block, and more Ms and Ls appear, you knowwhat to do.


- A moving wall is in the way again, so switch to Bowser and a scene occurs.- Use Luigi to hammer Mario so he shrinks, and you can pass through small gaps.

- Use Mario to pass thorugh the small gap.- Hit the switch with the hammer as Mario, and the wall disappears.- Hit another switch with the hammer behind wehre Toadsworth was, and aplatform disappears.

- Fall down the gap and there is a save point there.- There is a small gap on the right, enter there with Mario, and hit a switchwith the hammer to remove another wall.

- Hit the ? block in the lower right. - Get back to Luigi, and make Bowser drink, and swim above the save block to a? block.

- Turn the water back off.- Save.- Go past where the wall was to the next area.

- Hit two ? blocks near the top. - If you look carefully, you can pass through some platforms, find one you cango through, and hit the A block down there.

- Go to the top left to the next area.

- Go left and hit the switch on the left with your hammer and another black andred ball falls, push this one to the left, and the Chombone breaks groundagain.

- Get another black and red ball, but this time, push it right.- Go down the gap in the lower right and there is an A block. - This time go down the left side and through the small gap as Mario and hit aswitch to make the wall disappear.

- Go to where the wall was and through to the next area.

- Back here, hit the A block. - This gives you another special attack, watch the new tutorial to learn how touse it.

- Swim left and there is a switch, hit it and a platform above disappears.- Also, another black and red ball appears, follow it up and push it leftthrough to the next map.

- Push it all the way left, and then change to Bowser and lose the water. Theblack and red ball enters the cannon like object.

- There's small gap at the bottom you can go through with Mario. Hit the ?block and switch there and the cannon fires right.

- Before heading back, go left another map and to the upper right of this area.There's a small gap you can use to go through to the cannon room, and thereis a ? block here.

- After getting that, go to the room where cannonball flew to.

- Go around and push the black and red ball left, the Chombone will drillanother hole.

- Go down the gap and right and touch the electrifying thing to get theStingler.

- After getting that, go back left.

- Head through the room and go left.

- Go to the bottom of the area and head left again.

- There's a save point here.- Press up infront of the gate and you'll use the Stingler, and you'llreappear at the world map.

- Head to the flame pipe.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++FLAME PIPE (MARIO & LUIGI)++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++- Go right and climb up the platforms and go though a small gap with Mario onthe left and hit the switch.

- Reunite with Luigi and go to the next room.

- Climb up the platforms and a scene occurs.- Time for a boss battle!

--------------- BOSS BATTLE: ----------------------------------------------------------------- MARIO AND LUIGI vs. SCUTLET HP: 280 EXP: 200 COINS: 50 DROPS: 1-Up Deluxe-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Attacks: Tongue Attack - Counter with jump Spits out the Starlow - Counter with hammer Flies up with fire, floats down - Counter with jump When it's going to attack with his tongue, it'll look at the person it'sattacking. Look at the person he's looking at, and prepare to jump and dodge.

This is the same with when he attacks with Starlow. When he flies up with fire, just jump with both brothers. When you damage him a bit more, he'll get two turns per round.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- After the battle, you'll change to Bowser again.

Afterall the segments turn yellow, he'll drop, so use the shell to block.

When he circles you, try to aim for the head, as hitting the bodies will onlychange their colour. Hitting the head ends the attack, but if you can't, makeall the body segments yellow and the attack will also finish.

You can't damage the head with either fire or your punches so attack thebody. Once you attack one section of the body, it turns yellow. Afterattacking all four sections of the body, so they all turn yellow, the headturns yellow aswell. Now you can damage the head. You can also attack thebody sections when Wiggler comes in to attack you.

Some time in the battle, leaf guys will appear above Wiggler, vacuum them andthey'll drop the turnip they are holding on Wiggler and help turn the bodysegments yellow.

Once Wiggler's head is yellow for two turns, it goes back to red, so you haveto repeat the entire process to change it's head back to yellow. The battlemay take a while as your window of damaging him is so short.

Cocoon Attack - Jump over it Straw - Jump or hammer it away Vacuums Biffidus - Jump to avoid When he does his tackle attack, his body fills with red, and once he's allred, he'll launch himself, so time your hammer attack properly. His cocoonattack will probably attack both brothers multiple times so stay focused tojump. If you're hit by the cocoon attack, the brother will be eaten, thenspat at the other brother. Jump to avoid.

Biffidus' will also join the battle. They only have 10HP (15HP with thechallenge medal equipped). They will also run at you, jump on them to counterthem. They'll eventually get vacuumed by the boss, and spat at you, so jumpover them.

If a straw appears, make sure you destroy it first, as after a few turns

he'll recover 40HP if you don't. The straw can be damaged by both jump andhammer. It has 16HP and 24HP if you have the challenge medal equipped.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are two ways hethrows the iron ball:

- at you - up, and on you Punching the first deflects it, and use your shell to block the second. When the boss inflates himself, he'll walk towards you, just keep repeatedlypunching his stomach until he turns red and the attack will end. You'll needto punch him nine times. If not, he'll unleash a punch sending you high inthe air.

When the boss roll himself up and bounces all over the place, there are two

places he will drop, just like the iron ball: - on top of you - on ground in front of you Guard with your shell for the first and punch him just before he lands forthe second.

If you perform an 'excellent' move, the audience gives you coins. Also,sometimes the audience throws food at the boss, which he'll use to recoverhimself. You can use the vacuum block to take the food away from him if youwant, here's what each one does (to both you and the boss):

- Cake: Recover 20HP - Donuts: Recover 10HP - Meat: Recover 50HP and POW up

If you can deal more than 20 damage per one turn, then just ignore the cakeand donuts. I recommend you take the meat though, because you'll get the POWincrease aswell.

- Head to the Flab Zone as Mario and Luigi.- Head up the platforms and go left to a ? block. - Save and go right to the next area.

- Get on the block platform and hit the ? blocks.

- Go back down and talk to the blue emoglobin. He'll give you a quiz for 5coins. Answer him correctly to get 50 coins as a reward. (Check the quizsection for answers)

- Enter the red pipe to the next area.

- Save.- Hit the ? block. Hit the block back and forth again. - Enter the red pipe.

- Bounce up the two platforms and hit the ? blocks. - Head left through the green pipe.

- Bounce up to the platforms and grab two ? blocks. - There's another blue emoglobin in the lower right. He'll give you anotherquiz for 5 coins. Answer him correctly to get 100 coins as a reward.

- Enter the upper right red pipe.

- In this room again, head through the lower right red pipe again.

- Save.- This time enter the green pipe.

- Fo down and hit the switch with your hammer to make a whirlwind appear.- You'll learn the spin jump.- From where you are standing right now, jump straight up around hereto make some blocks appear. There's two against the wall, and then three morea little left of that.

- Spin jump into the whirlwind, and then fall into the yellow stuff.- You'll land on the platform you created earlier.

- Spin jump right, into the wall and into a hidden area.

- Grab the two ? blocks here. - Go back left.

- Fall down, and then spin jump into the whirlwind and spin jump across theplatforms over the yellow stuff to the end.

- Hit the A block. - That's another SP attack, and another tutorial.- Enter the green pipe next to you.

- Climb up the platforms to two ? blocks. - Jump down to the bouncy ground and jump up in the area between the whirlwindand the platforms to reveal a hidden platform.

- Spin jump on that platform, and spin jump through the whirlwind to the nextplatform.

- Enter the red pipe.

- Enter the small gap on your right as Mario.

- Jump up all the platforms, using the bouncy ground to help you.- At the top, jump up to reveal more hidden blocks that form a platform to theswitch.

- Climb up, and hit the switch with your hammer.- Go back down to Luigi.- Jump on the ground that appear to bounce really high!- Another blue emoglobin, another quiz for 5 coins. Answer correctly for 200coins.

- Enter the red pipe.

- Get on the bouncy ground and another ? block. - Going further, head between the bouncy grounds for two more ? blocks.

- Jump up the platforms and spin jump over to the ledge with the pipes.- Enter the green pipe.

- Break the two ? blocks. - Save.- Go right to the next area.

- Watch a scene.

- Jump up there and spin jump away the orbs, and a battle!

Hit red orbs withMario, green ones with Luigi. Each orb has 20HP, 30HP with the challengemedal. And you can't hit the blue ones. Once you hit one, the connected ones

change colour, so hit it the orbs in a way so that the next brother will havesomething to hit. During the boss' turn, a light will travel through the orbs, remember theorder the light travels through the red and green orbs, as the boss is gonnafire orbs back at you in that order. Use your hammer to destroy the lightorbs. Once all the orbs turn blue, a single orb remains. Use this moment todeal some major damage! Try using your new SP attack, that will deall a good60-70 damage depending on your level.

After a few turns, the second phase starts.

In the second phaze, the boss splits into six, and surrounds the brothers.One will flash with electricity, and another jumps to signify where theelectricity will flow to (in a straight line). If Mario and/or Luigi are

between the two orbs jump to avoid the electricity. It does this a few times.Once you think its over, the six orbs retreat and then one jumps on the spota few times, keep your eye on this one! The orbs will shuffle themselvesaround, and you have to remember which was the real one. Attack that one! Ifyou attack the wrong one, it'll disappear and you deal no damage. After a fewmore turns, you go back to phaze one. This cycle repeats until you kill it.

- Break an item block in the lower right corner. - Punch the red button, and a bomb falls.- Punch the bomb all the way to the left, and use your flame to blow up thewall to reveal an entrance.

- Do this two more times, revealing two more entrances in the wall: one in themiddle of that wall, and one on the right. Except you need to light the bombfirst, then let it countdown a little then punch it, so that it explodesright in front of the crack.

- Enter the left entrance.

- Go up to the end and break the item blocks. - Return to the previous room.

- Enter the right path this time.

- Lastly, enter the middle path.

Attacks: Punch - Counter with jump Punch, but trips - Stand still Goomba attack - Dodge by jumping Goomba drop - Counter with hammer Fire - Dodge with jump Shyguy Army - Counter with hammer With Bowser's punches, if he puffs before the punch, don't jump as he'll flystraight over you, if he doesn't jump to dodge the punch.

For Goombas, if they are coming at you, jump on/over them to avoid. Try toactually jump over them as it makes it easier to time your next jump. Bowserlights some on fire and then they drop on you from above, look atwhich character it's gonna drop on, and use your hammer to hit them intoBowser and he'll take some damage. Ones that drop on you deal more damage if

you are hit. Once you dish out some damage, he'll start attacking with his fire breath.Once he does so, your star buddy will circle above, press jump with Mario andLuigi to grab onto him (hold the jump button), and you'll dodge the fire.Mistiming the jump and letting go of the jump button will result in yougetting burnt like crazy!

Bowser's last attack is he when calls a shyguy army. They'll sling Bowsertowards you and you have to hammer him back. You can't tell who he'll roll tofirst, but after the first one, he'll go to the other brother. Time yourhammer to deflect eight times and the attack ends. The timing is like the

Green Shell SP attack, so it shouldn't be hard at all. Attack Bowser with SP attacks, whichever you think you are good enough at toget consistent EXCELLENTs, combined with the Bro and Excellent! Badgesand this battle shouldn't be too hard. If you don't like SP attacks, use theMushroom Badge and if you heal whenever the bar is full, you probably won'teven be close to dying.

- After the battle, there's another scene and you begin your search for thestar cures.


- Head right again to the next screen.

- Head up and grab two ? blocks. - Now that Mario and Luigi are out of Bowser, you can walk around and exploreother areas if you want (there isn't much to do at this point).

- Save and shop.- Going right is a dead end, so go left through two purple columns.

- This house is Broque Madame's house. And it's purpose is like the challengehall inside Bowser, but for Bowser himself.

It's like a minigame playing with the special attacks you've learnt and tryto reach the highest rank. More on that in its appropriate section.

- After playing enough, go right back to the previous screen.

- Go through the lower left path.

- There are Beehoss' here, vacuum one of them to get a cat. [C09/15]- Break the item block at the bottom. - Go down to the next screen.

- Now, ride the raft on the right (punch left).

- Get off, and break the two item blocks here. - Head to the bottom right to another raft and punch left again.

- After flying over the ramp, punch right so you go back in the direction ofthe ramp. Punch down and left to get to an item block. - Get back on the raft and punch right, up, left, down, right, up (while movingwhere the arrow is), left, down, right, and you get to the next coast.

- Break the item block here. - Get back on the raft, punch left, up, left (where there is an arrow pointingright) to get to the next beach.

- Head right up the ramp to the next screen.

- Break the item block in the lower right corner. - Head down across the bridge to the next area.

- Break the item block here. - Save.- Go right to the next area.

- Approach the propeller for a scene.- You'll change to Mario and Luigi.
