Th is will h appen no later than January 2012. The decision was thoroughly scrutinised by the Kent County Council Cabinet Scrutiny Committee on 19 January 2011 and we can now begin the closure process. I am writing to explain what the next steps will be. Firstly you will be offered a re-assessment of your needs. This will be done with you and your family or advocate to ensure we can find the right homes that can meet your updated needs. You will then be able to visit these and choose where you would like to go. Part of the assessment will be finding out what is important to you and your family in the new home, including where it is and whether you have made friends that you would like to stay in contact with.  As Bowles Lodge will remain open until January 2012, this will allow time for this re- assessment to be done at a pace that suits you and your family and also the opportunity for you to raise any issues and concerns that you have and for these to be addressed. We have recruited a Project Officer, Jayne Hodge, from the care management team who will be arranging to meet with you and your family/ advocate to begin your assessment. Jayne will also explain how the process will work. If there is anything that would help with a move to another home please make sure that you tell Jayne so she has all the information she needs to ma ke sure we can meet your ne eds through this c hange. Jayne can be contacted on 07826 868024. Alternatively, if you prefer, your existing care manager would be able to support you through this process.

Re: Future of Older Person’s Provision  – Bowles Lodge

Following the period of consultation on the Future of Older People’s services, Cllr GrahamGibbens, Cabinet member for Adult Social Services has taken the decision to close BowlesLodge. This will happen no later than January 2012. The decision was thoroughly

scrutinised by the Kent County Council Cabinet Scrutiny Committee on 19 January 2011and we can now begin the closure process.

I am writing to explain what the next steps will be.

Firstly you will be offered a re-assessment of your needs. This will be done with you andyour family or advocate to ensure we can find the right homes that can meet yourupdated needs. You will then be able to visit these and choose where you would like togo.

Part of the assessment will be finding out what is important to you and your family in thenew home, including where it is and whether you have made friends that you would liketo stay in contact with.

As Bowles Lodge will remain open until January 2012, this will allow time for this re-assessment to be done at a pace that suits you and your family and also the opportunityfor you to raise any issues and concerns that you have and for these to be addressed.

We have recruited a Project Officer, Jayne Hodge, from the care management team whowill be arranging to meet with you and your family/ advocate to begin your assessment.Jayne will also explain how the process will work. If there is anything that would help

with a move to another home please make sure that you tell Jayne so she has all theinformation she needs to make sure we can meet your needs through this change.
