Corliss St., died early Sunday maming at a Portland hospital.
He was bom in Bath March 17, 1906, son of the late William and Henrietta Talman Boutin, and attended local schools.
As a young man be W'orked at the Bath Box Co. and was later employed in the assembly department of the Bath Iron Works Harding plant here, retiring in 1968.

He leaves his widow, the fonner Irene Denham of Bath; two step-daughters, Irene Chapman and Beverly Hamilton, both of Bath; nine step.granddilldren and several cousins and three aunts. •

He was a graduate of Bar Harbor High School and had attended Colby College in Waterville. Mr. Bovie was a retired electrician and was a member of Waterville Lodge of Masons, the Taconnet Chapter, RA.M. and St. Ornar Commandery.
He is survived by one son, Richard Bovie of New York City.
A graveside service will b t! conducted by the officers of Waterville Masonic Lodge Wednesday at 10 a.m. at· Maplewood Cemetery in Fairfield.

He was born at Oakland, Jan. 18, 1889, aon of El1aha and Etta C&lden Bowden. He was an electrlcian. He had Uved here since 1939. He was a member of Hiram Lodie, AP & AM, a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Kora Temple Shrine.
Mr. Bowdon retired in 1955 because of 111 health. He and Mrs. Bowden recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Besides his widow, the former Tessa Currier, he is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Jasper Norsworthy, Caribou, Mrs. Frederick Hood, East Mlllinocket, Mrs. Elwood Hall, Walllngfont Ct., Mra. James Hartn&lle, Glen PaUl, N. Y., and Mrs. Arnold Low'rey, Lebanon, N. H.; a son, William D. Bow~ den, Wallingford, Ct.: a brother, Edward Bowden. Waterville; four sisters. Mrs. Ernest Sawtelle, Mrs. Merle Parsons, and Mrs. Ai'thur Johnson, all of Waitervllle, and Mrs. Carrie Hewes, !North Vassalboro; If grandchil-dren and 15 &'l"e&t-gnuidchlldren.
Puneral aervlces will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tllesday at 230 Cottage Rd. and Wednesday afternoon at Caribou. Interment will be in Everp-een Cemetery there.

BRIAN A . BOWDEN
' SEARSPORT and VERONA Brian A. Bowden "llny, • 50, of Searsport, .._ died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, surrounded by his loving family, after
courageous battle with cancer. Brian was born June 13, 1957, to Merle E. and Dorothy (Gross) Bowden or Verona Island. He graduated from Bucksport High School, where he played football and was an AllAmerican defensive lineman. He carried on his love or football by coaching for the Pop Wa1 ner football league. Brian attended the University of Maine - Bangor and studied law enforcement. He had been a part-time police officer for both Bucksport and Verona. Brtan worked as a coating prep operator for Verso Paper for more than 30 years and
was e member of United Steel Workers Union, Local 1188. Brian was also a member of Rising Star Masonic LOdge No. 177, Penobscot. Brtan had been a member at both Country View Golf COurse and Searsport Pines. after taking up golf with his wife. Brian especially enjoyed spending summers at camp on Half Moon Pond, where he spent time with his family and lakeside frtends kay<Jklng, fishing and hosting cookouts. Surviving Brian ilre his wife, Patrida Tibbetts of Searsport; his children, Gabriel Bowden and his flanc?c, Erin Boyle, of Bangor and Brlanya Bowden and her boyfriend, Adam Duke, of Sullivan; stepchildren, Trlda McGinty of Prospect and Keith Tibbetts of Swanville; grandchildren, Nicholas Gould and Erin McGinty; one sister, Sonya Harriman and her husband, Marvin; and one brother, Stephen Bowden and his wife, Lynn, all of Bucksport, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Brian was predeceased by his parents. Family and friends will ga~ for v isitation 6-8 p.m. Fr1doy. Feb. 1, at Hltcheii-Tweedle Funeral Home, 28 Elm st., Bucksport. Bowden Sr. He wos a graduate of Bon· gor High School, Closs of 1928. He retired from the Stote Highway Commission after .44 years' service in the Orrington-Bucksport oreo. After his ·retirement he wos a school bus opera· tor for the town of Orring· ton for 10 years. He was o member of the First United Methodist Church of Orr· rington, a member of Eure· ko Lodge, I.O.O.F. ond Ralph J. Poflord lodge, AF & AM, both of Orrington. He served for many years as c~mmitteemon for Troop .U, B.S.A., of Orring· , ton. Besides his wife of 55 1 years, he was the beloved 1
father of three sons and · daughters-in-law, Leslie M. and Marilyn Bo~en ol Or· rington, WiHred E. "Bud" and Doris Bowden of Ken·
du$keag and Eugene W. and Esther Bowden of Bucksport; one daughter and son-in-law, Marguerite and Philip Eckert of Orring· ton. He js also survied by four brothers, Donald F. Bowden, Clifford E. Bow· den and Wallace E. Bow· den, all of Orrington, and Ernest F. Bowden Jr. of Bangor; 13 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, 16 greot·grondchildren, two step·greot-grondchildren, several nieces and neph· ews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church of Orrington. Inter· ment will be in Dean Hill Cemetery. Friends may coli 2·4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Philip E. Born In Auburn, June 5, 1926, the son 6f George and Eva Bazinet Bowden, he was educated in Auburn schools and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1944.Mr. Bowden was a veteran of World War II, serving
·With the U.S. Navy. He married Helen Fisher at Bangor, March 17, 1950.
For the past several years he bad been a fireman at Morin Brick Co. and prior to that was fore-
man in the cutting room at Belle-Moe Sboe Co. 22 years.
Mr. Bowden was a member ol Kora Temple Sluine, AAONMS, ol LeWistoo, Ancient Brothers Lodge of Masons No. 178, F and AM of Auburn, the Shrine Chanters Association of North America, Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Lewiston and Lewiston Horseshoe Association.
He was one of the founding members of Elliott A venue Little League of
LewistDn and was a former coaCh and umpire of the Elliott A venue League. He was. an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife of Lewiston· three sons, Jeffrey G. of1Greene and Stephen J . and Casey S., both of Lewiston; a daughter, Julie A. Doyon of Turner; two brothers, Gerald of Auburn and Roger of Auburn; and six grandchildren.

PENOBSCOT - Merle H. Bowden. 89, died April 7. 1986, at Mars Hill. He was born in Blue Hill , March 3, 1897, the son of Albert and Lena (Merserve) Bowden. He served i;, the U.S. Navy during World War I. He owned and operated an outot{lotive garage in Penobscot for many years and for several years was o school bus driver for the Penobscot Scbool District. Mr. Bowden was a meiT)ber of the Duffy-Wescott Post No. 85 of Blue Hill, a life member of the Rising Star Lodge No. 177 AF 8 AM of Pe· nobscot and a life member of the Penobscot Chapter No. 107, Order of the Eastern Star. He is survived by his son, Boyd Bowden of presque Isle: one grandson, Gory Bowden of Portland; one granddaughter, Mrs. Bruce (Beth) Brown of Presque Isle; one great-granddaughter, Tiffany Brown; several nieces and nephews. Funeral servic~s will be held I p.m. Thursday at the Healey Funeral Home, Blue Hill. Burial will be in the family cemetery, West Blue Hill. "Friends may call at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

PENOBSCOT - Ross A. Bowden, 88, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 1991, at a Penobscot nursing home after a long illness. He was born Sept. 25, 1902, the son of James (Fred) and Minnie Bowden. He was o lifelong resident of Penobscot. He was head caretaker for the Dr. Pierce Estate in Castine for 14 years. In 1965 he retired from St. Regis Paper Co. with more than 20 years of service. Upon his retirement, he formed his own landscaping business, Ross Bowden & Son, which he operated for 22 years. He was o 50-year member of the Risin~ Star Lodge No. 177 AF & AM of Penobscot. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beatrice Bowden of West Penobscot; two sons, Allen and his wife, Priscilla Bowden, and linwood Bowden, all of Penobscot; five grandchildren , Jeffrey and Dione, both of California, Rosemary of the Armed Services. stationed in Kansas, Gregory and Miriam. both of Penobscot; seven great-grandchildren, the youngest of which bears his nome. He was predeceased by one son, Rolph; and one grandson, Mark. There will be no visiting hours. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the MitcheiiTweedie Funeral Home, Bucksport.

Ernest D. Bowen, 65, died Monday, May 21, 1990, at his John Street home in Rockland.
He was born in Morrill, Sept. 18, 1924, to Flora (Knowlton) and Ernest Bowen.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he had worked most of his life as a cook. He belonged to the Rockland Lodge of Masons.
Surviving are two sons, Alfred and Daniel Bowen, both of Rockland; four sisters, Elsie Bowen of Morrill, Etta Cummings of Gainesville, Fla., Lois Overlock of Camden and Dorothy Wood of Swanville; four brothers, Laurence Bowen of Liberty, Amdrew Bowen of Rockland, Carl Bowen of Morrill and Philip Bowen of Rockport, Wash.; five grandsons; one great-grandson and by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a sis- · ter, Marion.
Funeral services will be held Thursday (today) at 11 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel at the Maine Veteran Memorial Cemetery in Augusta. Arrangements are with the Carpenter Funeral Home. Rockland.

AUGUSTA- Ralph H. Bowen, 91, of Eastern Avenue, a former clerical officer at the Togus Center, died Saturday at an area hospital.
He was born In Searsport, a son of Elroy R. and Allee H. Hart BoweQ.
He was a clerical officer at the Veteran's Administration Medical and Regional Office Center, Togus, until his retirement.
He was a World War I Army veteran, and a member of the MonmouthLodge # llOAF&AM.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lucille Lovell, of Danvers, Mass.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Frances John· BOlt. of Winslow; two grandsons, seven great-grandsooa and a great· great-grandchild.
A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Knewlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta. Burial will be iD Mount Aubum Cemetery, Auburn.
