Bouquets Of Gratitude
Most people think of the following words to describe engineers - smart, technical, and educated. But engineers
are essentially creative, innovative problem solvers. This veiled truth has brought to light the exciting fact that
engineering is ‘fun’, not just challenging. At SLRTCE, our vision is deep, and our mission simple: ‘delivering
quality education and achieving excellence… excellence in terms of taking Engineering a step further than
Innovation to Entrepreneurship....’
The benefits of a college degree, a higher paying job and upward mobility, have been a long standing assumption
for engineering students, but the ability to realize those benefits has greatly diminished in the recent years. To
battle with this, Shree L. R. Tiwari College of Engineering has, right since its inception in 2010, been conducting
a number of National level programs in Science, Engineering & Technology and Management, both at the first
degree and higher degree levels. This experience has helped us build on our qualification, and has provided us
with the confidence to grow as a professional. Gaining hands on experience prior to graduating implies building
of knowledge, skills and a professional network which will continue to flourish.
Through this first issue of Raw Ink, the entire team wishes to pay a huge tribute to our distinguished
management, the crux of our very existence.
We extend warm and heartfelt gratitude to our Honorable Chairman, Shri Lallan Tiwari, who boldly embarked
on a new venture in the field of education, with tremendous zeal and enthusiasm to connect the deprived and
needy people to the sophisticated sector of society. His steadfast nature is the driving force of this institution
and he attributes the success of our work to a single element - Commitment. Leading by example, he takes
personal interest in the functioning of SLRTCE by constantly examining the state of affairs at the grass root level.
We are extremely grateful to our respected Hon. Secretary, Shri Rahul Tiwari who is truly a youth icon of
sterling nature and a dynamic enthusiast. This reflects in his keeping up with the latest trends by introducing
innovative and progressive techniques into the field of education right from the grass root level to higher
professional courses. His very presence allures us and compels us to emulate his conduct as we grow. Kudos!! to
our Secretary Sir… who envisioned this very Institute!
We feel sincerely blessed to have Smt. Krishna Tiwari as our Hon. Jt. Secretary. She lives up to the noble saying
by Rabindranath Tagore, ‘A lamp can never light another lamp unless and until it continues to burn its own flame’.
Her encouragement and support have played a major role in the fruitful completion of every tiny venture. Her
willingness to delve into the depths of a student’s personality and realize the problems faced while growing and
learning is what we greatly treasure.
There cannot be enough to say in thanking our Director and Academic Advisor, Dr. P. V. Pradhan. A
perfectionist by nature, he is extremely sincere and meticulous and guides us constantly with his deep
philosophy, wise instinct and excellent managerial skills, thus helping us cross milestones in a short span. He
exudes a highly positive aura and relates to each person with astuteness as well as an open approach.
We extend a debt of gratitude to our dear Principal, Dr. S. Ram Reddy, for not only providing a path but
also for helping us cross over every hurdle. The firm assurance he provides us, that our efforts will pay, is just
what we need to sustain us in this inevitably expanding and dynamic field.
Eddie Canton has rightly remarked: “It takes 20 years to become an overnight success!” We pledge not to deter
in our goal of propelling SLRTCE to great heights. With the birth of Raw Ink, the Vision is already set to
communicate to every reader that, for us at SLRTCE:
‘The sky, as we see it, is not the limit!!!!’ 1
SLRTCE - The Journey So Far!
Shree L. R. Tiwari College of Engineering, an ISO 9001-2008 QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
certified Institution & Member of INET was established in the year 2010 by Rahul Education Group to
impart need-based and application-oriented technical education, and has since then provided a sound
platform, equipping students to stand on their own feet, visualize, grow and build a bright future in the
ever growing industry.
The college offers full time UG courses for a four year duration in I.T., Computer Engineering, Electronics
& Telecommunication, Electronics, Civil and Mechanical Engineering, leading to the degree of Bachelor
of Engineering (B.E.) at University of Mumbai and Master of Engineering (M.E.) in Computer Engineering,
Electronics & Telecommunication. All courses are approved by All India Council for Technical Education
(AICTE), New Delhi & Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra State.
The college has successfully organized spectacular events at the national level such as the National
Conference on 'Emerging Trends in Engineering & Technology' NCETET 2011 and a National
Technical Festival 'Utsav', along with several inter-college and intra-college workshops and seminars,
thus fashioning young minds to innovate and present their ideas and channeling their energy towards
achieving merits throughout their professional course.
The College has been established as a Remote Center for IIT Bombay, an initiative of National Mission
on Education through ICT NMEICT by MHRD, Govt. Of India. The College is also registered as Remote
Center for Aakash Project with IIT Bombay under NMEICT fully funded by Govt. of India to promote
research activities. Further in the research area, considering the responsibility towards our society, the
college joins the forum of Resource Center of IITB in Spoken Tutorial Program to create awareness
for ICT at need based places. With a centralized system Shree L. R. Tiwari College of Engineering will
conduct a series of seminars and workshops for all its sister institutes and nearby schools to reach the
goal of NMEICT.
Opportunities and challenges continue to require engineers to literally invent the future by developing
breakthrough technologies that solve global problems and enhance the quality of life. To propel this
SLRTCE believes in building meaningful rapport and collaboration at Institute and University level,
vitally in the domains of manpower exchange programs and core research-based activities. 2013 has
brought even more changes- along with a grander ‘Utsav’ it has also started offering M.E. courses.
Also a fresh new initiative by the juniors for technical paper presentation called Nova 2013 was
organized. A new committee for robotics called “Robocon” has also been formed of-late. Thus, this
long continuous list of achievements is ever-growing and will continue to do so in the years to come.
Our college also celebrates a few occasions right from the year of inception like the Teacher's Day,
Engineer’s Day and Navratri celebrations. This continuous rise also indicates something more - a
sense of enthusiasm, excitement and vigor seen in the students which is laying down the pathway
to make our college reach even new heights in the years to come!

Freshers’ 2013
Fresher’s party, a time for the Second Year students to bond and welcome the First Year students to
the college with a grand celebration and also to prove the fact that engineers can do much more than
study. Freshers’ celebration is the one where no one is from COMPS, IT, ETRX, EXTC, MECH or CIVIL, all
have but one motive and that is to give an awesome Freshers’ party and to welcome the ‘Juniors’ with
a bang! The same was done by the current Second Year batch of our college. First time in the history
of SLRTCE, a function was organized on a venue quite away from the college, that too by the students
themselves. Is this the start of a new tradition? It is yet to be seen.
The party started with the due respects to faculty of our
college; followed by some great performances by the
organizers as well as the freshers’. The venue was “The
Colosseum”, in Vardhaman Fantasy a.k.a “Shivar Garden”
And of course how can we forget the DJ that rocked the
place and the people in it! It was four hours of singing,
dancing, eating and then again dancing. Though there were
some complains, but all is well that ends well right?
And the organizers are proud to say that they were the ‘first ones to do it outside!’ and after all –
“A little party never killed nobody.”

Top Ten Excuses Why You Didn’t Do Your Assignment
Late night, around 11 o’clock the phone rings.
“Hey dude! Do you have the ‘XYZ’ subject assignment image, it’s due TOMORROW and I haven’t even
started it yet.” You reply,”Wh-what assignment, what subject, are you serious!?!? Ask around and if you
get those images send me as well. Damn!!”
Does that ring a bell?? If it doesn’t, then you are the one who is the source of all the assignment images
that get circulated around all social groups. Thank you, you are doing a great job, keep it up!!
For the rest, which makes up for at least ninety percent or more of the total academic crowd in any
college, all I can say is, “I know the feel bro!!” (*hugs*). So what do you do when you don’t have the
assignment that was to be submitted today and the teacher clearly mentioned that today is the last
day of submission, or so you have heard from your friends? Go in a corner and cry, because life is so
unfair??
No, you give excuses!!
So I am going to list the top ten excuses that you can or would have used to justify why you forgot
your assignment.
1. Someone Died!
A perfectly flawless escape route! Death is almost the most sympathized subject, and no one
will question your excuse. Well, no one is that rude! You feel bad in your conscious about lying
about the death of your loved grandma? Well then your aunt died, it doesn’t necessarily have to
be someone that really exists. After all the teacher isn’t going to check if they really have any
natural existence or not.
Still no? Well then you should have tried doing the assignment at the first basis.
2. I got in an accident!
Just like death, accidents have a sympathy factor associated to it. Add in a story that tells how
unfortunate you were that you ended up in an accident. With some scratches on your hands and
knees as your alibi, you are good to go. Add in, one or two trusted friends to agree to your story
and that’s a bonus. Nahh? Well, continue reading and you might find your poison.
3. I gave it to a friend to copy but they never gave it back.
One of your friends is absent? Then that is the one who has your assignment! You might
get away with the submission but that friend might not be as understanding as the teacher.
But what problems can chocolate not solve, give him a Dairy Milk ‘Silk’ and all your problems
are gone.
4. My notebook got stolen in the college cafeteria and it had all my work in it.
Cafeteria is a place where many things are going on, probably the most active region of the
college. So the probability of a theft taking place there is high. Now why would the thief steal 4
your notebook? Probably they wanted the notes to study and you’ve just got the thief wrong,
or it might be all together a different story. Decide that for yourselves before using this one.
5. I left it in my other bag; I will surely bring it and submit it tomorrow.
Not many have two bags for college books, and neither do you, probably. But hey, your teacher
doesn’t know that. So what the heck!
If you are really persuasive this might work for you, but can’t bet your guns on it.
6. I had other subjects to do as well, and it got late finishing those, and I got so tired that I
slept while I was writing.
You are an engineering student, and you have a lot to write. No one knows if they are making
you an engineer or if they plan on making you a copy writer. But yeah, all the teachers are aware
of the fact that we sure as hell have tons to write. So if you are the one that can advocate this
argument flawlessly to the faculty, there is a chance that you might get through. Yet again this
is not fool proof, but a man has to take his chances.
7. There was a power cut in our area!
India is a developing nation, and a developing nation has its share of power cuts. Even if you live
in a metro city, there still is a fair chance that the region you live in has a power cut. The reason
may be myriad, from short circuit to maintenance. So make the teacher understand that it was a
power cut and you really were helpless.
Remember all those times you cursed power cuts, this is power cut at your rescue.
8. Our dog has mistaken my assignment for that GOSH DAMN newspaper.
Have a pet at home? Yes? Then you know how much a dog loves newspapers. If you don’t, take
my word for it. Tell the teacher how when you were sleeping your dog took all your assignment
and tore it and you only came to know later. But by then it was too late. If you are really lucky
this might work.
9. The cleaning lady threw it away.
House maids are not very popular for their English. Most of them can’t differentiate a question
mark from an exclamation. So your house maid threw away the assignment that you
completed and kept. Why? Because she can!
10. I sincerely forgot.
You are the most sincere student in the class? Haven’t missed a single submission date and
answer all the difficult questions with enthusiasm in class? You also can manage the puppy
eye look in front of teachers? Well then this is for you. If you actually qualify for all of the
above, then this is a perfect way to do it. And it will work, but only for you. The rest choose
something from above.

You Audio Library
Free music for all. YouTube is giving the stuff
away. Well it’s letting you use songs from its newly
launched Audio Library. The plan is to offer music
so that YouTube creators can make videos with the
right feel more easily. YouTube has currently 150
rights-free songs at 320 kbps, all ready to
download.
They are organized by Featured, Genre, Mood,
Instrument, Duration and Favorites but you can also search if you know what you are looking for.
YouTube built the library so far with the help of any musicians that were interested. Anybody wishing
to contribute to the library can do so, meaning the number of songs should grow as Audio Library
develops.
Galaxy
I am going to try to write this without mentioning the
gold iPhone 5s.
Samsung just revealed their plans for two gold-
themed Galaxy S4 smartphones: Gold Pink and Gold
Brown. Both options are seemingly cosmetic updates
to Samsung’s Galaxy series.
I can’t do this.
This news comes just two weeks after Apple
revealed the gold iPhone 5s. And if recent reports
are correct, the demand for the gold version is
higher than Apple expected. (Of course Samsung wanted in the action).
So far Samsung is only showing this off to the United Arab Emirates market. It is yet unclear
at this point if the model will hit elsewhere. (Samsung is likely looking to Apple and the iPhone
5s to make that decision for them).

Things I Learnt From This College
“SHREE L.R. TIWARI COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, I wonder how this journey will be like?” that was
my first thought after entering this college. Now I am in my final year and I have learned a couple of
things that I won’t forget, the very important thing that I learned is that “embrace changes and get
involved into this life otherwise you won’t like anything about it” here are few of the points that i would
like to share with you all, hope you all can relate:
1. Kyunki professors bhi kabhi students the, P.S. thode toh abhi bhi hai!
RESPECT your professors, they are human too! They are giving you part of time out their life and
so are you. They are normal people like us who may have cranky or annoying days or days where
they just don’t feel like teaching you. Respect them and their advices and if you mess with them
get ready to face an internal KT!
2. Be cool man stress karke kya milega? Babaji Ka Thulu?
The first day, heck, the first year may seem overwhelming and stressful but you’ll get the hang
of everything. Ultimately, we’re all in the same boat just trying to paddle by.
3. Mummy ko bolo Complan, Horlicks, Bournvita sab pilaye!
Be prepared for a rollercoaster ride! Considering that every morning walking that road outside
our college is equal to going for a trek, even if you travel by rickshaw there isn’t an inch of your
body that won’t bounce in pain. Be strong physically.
4. Don’t be a complain box! Argh!
Don’t nag, complain and be a pessimist 24X7. You come to college to have a good time so don’t
be one of those people who keeps complaining about how everything sucks about our college
OR how their own life sucks! Love your college for whatever it is! It is OUR college and we are
the ones who can make it LEGENDARY! *WINK*
5. Old is gold, new is not bad either:
College is a place where you will find people who are as crazy and weird as you are (in my
case awesome like me) and also some people who can be as annoying as a fly in your
sambhar! Don’t stop yourself from making new friends talking with new people, but don’t
forget your old best friends either, they love you.
6. Friends with benefits *wink*:
By friends with benefits I mean be friends with “the great” people who complete their
assignment before we even come to know about the fact that we have an assignment.
Without them submissions would have been tougher and incomplete and YES!! I am going
to call them great people (#RESPECT) 7
7. Wake Up Sid!
WAKE UP MY FRIENDS, there are many events that happen in our college that you won’t be even
aware about unless and until you come out of your little cocoon! Contribute something to
college, participate in college festivals, competitions and publicize it! College is not a place where
you can be spoon fed, you have to look out for opportunities.
8. Don’t be a fool on your way to be cool:
College is not only about having fun, it’s about building yourself up to face the real world, the
corporate world. Find your area of interest and be a champion in it! Don’t wait till last year to
realize that you could have done a certain certification or internship
9. Avoid ATKTs:
Yes avoid them! They are stressful and they occupy your precious time. Kill those rascals at first
sight!
10. Be awesome:
Don’t worry about a million things in the world; when you come to college leave your worries
outside the gate. Enjoy your college life and if you are passionate about something, pursue it!
Don’t be stupid to let go of it just because some people think it’s silly. Be calm and be awesome!

Story Of facebook
To say that Facebook is the most popular social networking and micro-blogging website today
would be an understatement. After almost a decade long run, the fact that Facebook has reached 1.2
billion active users today, speaks volumes about the entrepreneurship skills of Mark Zuckerberg,
chairman and CEO, Facebook Inc. But what is it that separates Mark from the rest?
Every successful entrepreneur we know of has had a higher purpose– a mission– to accomplish. ”To
make the world more open and connected” - was what drove Mark Zuckerberg. Only that kind of
selfless passion towards the mission, can give an entrepreneur, a success of that scale. Mark symbolizes
the policy of calculated risk-taking, which can make or break any startup.
He says, “The biggest risk is not taking any risk. In a world that’s changing really quickly, the only strategy
where you’re guaranteed to fail, is not taking any risk and not changing anything.”
Moreover, having a great team is crucial for any business to be successful. Mark recruited Ms. Sheryl
Sandberg, who would focus on building the business, expanding internationally, cultivating
relationships with large advertising, handling communications and public policy. This allowed Mark to
merrily focus on the technical aspects of Facebook.
“The most important thing for you as an entrepreneur trying to build something is, you need to build a
really good team. I spend probably 25 percent of my time recruiting, finding good people, both outside
the company and inside the company, to put them in more impactful roles”
As an entrepreneur, you will always face various challenges, stiff competition and countless hurdles in
your path. In Facebook’s case, be it competition from networking portals like MySpace and Orkut, or
legal tussles with co-founders, or facing intermittent ban in several countries, to name a few.. Mark has
seen through it all. And he never shies away from facing criticism from his users and from the media.
One admirable quality an entrepreneur must imbibe from Mark Zuckerberg is to keep emotions and
personal attachments at bay and only concentrate on what is in the best interests of the project. Andrew
Bosworth, software engineer at Facebook, says, “Every time Zuck looks at a product, it is as if he does so
with fresh eyes. He approaches everything from first principles every time. I've never met anyone so willing
to scrap a good product in favor of a great one. Zuck could spend a year building something and, without
hesitation, throw it away the next day to do something better. I think this trait has been one of our biggest
strategic advantages in my time here.”
And finally, as they say, there’s no substitute for hard work. Countless hours of coding, developing
the platform, brainstorming, planning and strategizing the ABCs of Facebook - it is pure
perseverance that has catapulted Mark to heights.
One of the reasons why Facebook has had an unprecedented popularity is because it has, more or
less, managed to combine entertainment and usefulness together. Facebook is simple, fast and easy
to understand. It has become the layman’s substitute for online forums and blogs, which were the
prominent platforms for social connectivity, back then. Innovative features like Wall, Facebook Chat,
the Like widget, News Feed, Timeline, Graph Search and others have only added to the effectiveness
with which people can share and communicate with each other.
11
In an exciting move, Facebook created ‘Facebook Applications’, through which developers were invited
to create apps that could be run in the Facebook environment. It received a huge response, as in no
time, hundreds of thousands of apps were created by numerous developers. Advertisements generate
a huge amount of revenue for the site. Talking about Facebook Inc. going public, Mark said that the
initial public offering of stock turned Facebook Inc. into a stronger company than it would have been
had it remained private.
Also, most news dailies have their pages on Facebook which provides up-to-date news about the
happenings of the world. The Facebook community is like a secular country where every festival is
celebrated without prejudice, which makes Facebook a warm break after work, for everyone, especially
during the festive days.
It would be interesting to see how things pan out for Facebook in the coming years. But it certainly
cannot be denied that Facebook has risen as a great phenomenon of the 21st century, and that Mark
Elliot Zuckerberg has turned out to be more than just ‘a successful entrepreneur’!

Education In Disguise
“The solution lies in the problem itself”, so goes a wise saying that encourages us to look for
answers within the area of study itself, sometimes, simply within the word or topic! Just as an
understanding of ‘what helps motivate a student’, strangely, could lie in the term ‘MOTIVATION’ by
converting it into a simple formula - ‘Mo(re) -T.V.- a c tion’, wherein ‘T’ and ‘V’ could stand for not
only TeleVision, but also Teaching-learning Variety, Tactful Vying, Tutorials & Videogames,
Technologically Vital etc. Television has gradually become one of the most effective media, imparting
high quality information. Teaching-learning variety is the pivotal feature of both formal and informal
education and involves the use of a wide range of methodologies, techniques, audiovisual aids and
evaluation strategies. Tactful Vying is what we witness of learners today, who, due to the innumerable
opportunities are moving steadily and competitively towards achieving skyscraping goals and success
at a global level. Tutorials and videogames constitute the major tools of Information and
Communication Technology to which no single person can be immune. Such tools bring about an
exceeding amount of interest and flexibility in the learner, thus enabling the individual to savor the
material presented. And lastly, Technologically Vital implies that most of the present day learners
prefer the use of mechanical gadgets, scientific instruments, electronic objects and simulated
environments in learning as it helps develop knowledge and skills at an advanced level.
Each day involves a regeneration of energy. For a child in school, or a youngster in college, no matter
at what level – the teachers, the lessons, the rooms, activities and surroundings – play a crucial role in
promoting the rejuvenation of ‘motivation’ – a force, that will lead the student to perform to his
maximum ability, and moreover enjoy each bit of it thoroughly. This ‘force’, being both intrinsic and
extrinsic is not unattainable, as achievement of either type, leads eventually to the birth of the other. A
potent tool for accomplishing this task could be ‘visual charting of one’s progress’ wherein an
extrinsic visual presentation of one’s day-to-day triumphs and failures will lead to an intrinsic urge to
pursue the set goals and face each challenge positively, taking ‘one moment at a time’. A child in class
would therefore be able to switch attention from a bad performance in a test in the previous period to
learning something new in the current period with genuine interest and vigor. Athletes keep detailed
logs of daily schedules, “wins and losses” and physiological changes. When positive progress is visually
represented, the brain receives subliminal messages that encourage and reinforce. When less than
desired progress is charted, deviations are clearly identified before irreparable consequences occur.
This places the teacher in a position to provide that ‘much required magical touch’ at an appropriate
moment, before the learner slides downwards to confusion and boredom.
Finally, and most importantly, ‘ASSURANCE’ that learning a subject or lesson is of some value, has
to be given by the teacher to every learner. A de-motivated pupil is almost sure that nothing would
come out of studying through comprehension and appreciation. Hopefully, the new evaluation
system in education will kindle in every pupil a drive to learn with a passion of self-discovery and
deep understanding, and place an eternal taboo on quantitative outcomes by laying emphasis on
qualitative growth. It is a certain fact that the prime desire of every human being is to survive, or
better, to live! And who wouldn’t be interested in learning if education wasn’t all about ‘how
to make a living’, but rather about ‘how to live?’ - Prof. Nina Narasimhan

Teacher Interview: Featuring Prof. Nina Narasimhan
How did you come to this college? So far
out in the desert?
(Amused already … after cross checking how
long the answers should be, she begins) The
thing is, I had done my Masters in English
Literature way back in 2005 and after that I was
wondering which profession to get into. You
know, usually students, they learn... get a degree
… and then go blank as to where to get into… so
I thought of going into the proof reading and
edition profession, and I really didn’t want to go
into writing or journalism because I’m a very
moody person.
Then all of a
sudden I don’t
know what
motivated me to
think of getting
into teaching,
but you know I
never wanted to
teach these
“school” kids or
children, or to be
in a school
setup. SO anyways I went further to do my B.Ed.
after which I started working in the same
college. The principal called me back because
the Diploma College was established during my
B.Ed. year, and she wanted me to be the
coordinator and lecturer because it was a new
college and they needed capable staff. So I
worked there for 3 and a half years, that’s at St.
Teresa’s Institute of Education, and at the same
time I was pursuing my Masters in Education. So
I did double masters in Literature and then I
moved into Education totally and it was real
fun!!! (she grins) During that time I shifted from
Andheri to Naigaon and after completing my
Masters in Education I thought it was time to
move from Diploma to Degree level of teaching.
I left that Institute and started dropping my
résumé at several Education Groups/Institutes in
and around Mira-Bhayander and Vasai/Virar for
the post of a lecturer in Education. Then all of a
sudden within 2 days, Rahul Group called me
and I met Ma’am Sridevi at the head office. She
actually asked me if I was interested in teaching
engineering students English! At that time, I
didn’t know what an engineering course was
really about, and for engineering students,
‘English’ seemed a weird subject. Why will they
have an English subject in Engineering? So I
looked up the syllabus online and I saw that they
had a subject known as Communication Skills
which was my forté because we had it in our
B.Ed. and other courses. Communication Skills is
a part of any professional course. I even had a
subject on communication in M.Ed., so I was
clear with the basics of what I’m going to teach,
and I needed to know what further skills were
needed for engineers. So I looked up ‘google’
….my best friend…. and I saw technical writing
etc. I was almost sure I could tackle all that as I
gain experience. They wanted me …if I wished to
join… to do so really soon because Sem II had
already started, so just within the span of 2 days
on 31 Jan 2011, I took my first lecture for you
engineers (smiles delightedly). From Day One it
has been a totally new experience for me and
I’m really enjoying!
How were you as a student before all this?
In school or college…
Oh my God… that was way back!
(Reminiscing) I started off in a co-ed school
in my primary section. At that time I was a
little bit timid. My mom tells me that I used
to cry and there were boys that used to bully
me, but I was a topper over there and uh, I
was a pet of the teachers (blushes with pride)
basically because my percentages were really
high and the first rank was held by me every
year. But the thing is by the time I reached 15
the 4th standard I wanted to move on from that
school to somewhere else so I got an admission
in St. Louis’ Convent School and that was the rise
of my academic decline because in the convent
I became all the more naughty and my focus
totally fell off studies. I still scored average
percentage but I really started feeling that
working too hard towards Maths and Science
and scoring really well, and having that pressure
of scoring in the S.S.C board is not really
required. I can just get a decent percentage and
do something that involves using my creativity
and my time in a better way, than going through
that whole ordeal. Neither was I very ambitious
to try to become a big shot or end up pursuing
some very high professional course like the
Medical or the Engineering course. No one
pressurized me in my family. I remember writing
in a slam book …what is my ambition…and what
I wanted to become…at that time, was what I
wrote…a ‘Software Engineer’ (grins sheepishly).
But this so-called ambition kept changing…
from a software engineer... to a detective... to a
police lady… then back to a writer and then an
actress!!! And I was very fond of dancing so then
I got into the dancing profession but I got out
of it soon enough realizing that it is not going
to serve me long-term. A lot of things like these,
I experienced, and then finally I came back to
teaching.
What do you do when you are not teaching?
What are your hobbies?
As I told you I am a very creative person and art
was something I really enjoyed doing. I don’t
have any sibling so since the time I’ve been
growing up or when I was small, I used to sit with
my drawing book and my color pencils etc. and
do a lot of artwork. Then I became very
interested in Glass Painting so I learned it but
then my pet dog named Spock came into my
life! (Eyes twinkle) Since he came into my life all
my drawing boards and my colors are in the
cupboard. Glass Painting requires a spot
free/dust free environment. When the paint is
wet, and if even a small strand of hair falls on it
and dries up, the whole painting gets ruined, so
art was out! Then came in ‘dance’. I was totally
into dancing. I was a part of Shamak’s dance
club and I almost got a chance to be an
instructor there but again I was doing my B.Ed.
so I kind of knew that if I got into that I won’t be
able to focus on my studies. I painfully left that
thought and continued with my studies. I
pursued learning the keyboard but soon
dropped out. I also enjoy singing since I’m a
good singer. When it comes to ‘not teaching’,
these are a ‘few’ of my favorite things!!!!! And
reading!!!! I love reading anything!!! As I told
you, I’m moody. So I pick up anything and read.
It could be a scripture, it could be something
online or a technical work, or it could be just a
novel, sometimes fiction or biography, could be
anything! Nothing set as such. My latest passion
is singing along with the piano/karaoke and
recording.
Any particular dance form you enjoy?
The dance form I enjoy the most is
Contemporary Style because as I told you when
I joined Shamak’s I remember that was the style
I was trained in, and I believe it really allows your
body to explore to its fullest. It’s a very versatile
dance form.
Which is the best novel you have read?
Since I’ve done literature, I have read many
novels as a part of my study and leisure too. I
remember enjoying ‘The French Lieutenant’s
Woman’ but I don’t remember the author
because I’m bad at remembering names. And
literature is full of names! I have also wanted
to start a library because of the amount of
books I possess. Recently I’ve read a lot of
Dan Brown novels that are really well written
and full of suspense.
What about movies?
There was a time, when I was at Andheri, that
I used to go to all the late-night shows with
mom because she enjoyed watching them! I 16
kind of feel guilty if I don’t go with her for a
movie. Sometimes I’ll watch a movie 2 to 3
times, once with mummy and then with friends
etc. Even now we go and see a lot of movies
together. When it comes to movies I don’t
believe in reading reviews and going to “5-star
rated movies” so to say…. I just blindly go for a
watch.
Do you have any favorite students in the
college?
When it comes to favorites, the reason why any
student would be my favorite is when it comes
to work. For example if I have to do a task with
students and someone asks me to choose any 5
students, I would spontaneously choose the 5
students based on the task, because I can
identify the caliber of different students ….like if
it comes to music or editing the first names I
think if is Aditya Valera and Rishi Jasapara. When
it comes to dance I think of Shweta Iyer and
Karthik. If it comes to stand-up comedy or
spontaneous comparing, Zubeen Sayed and
Shubhajeet Bishwas. When technical stuff
involved and a lot of documentation and
accurate work to be done then Uday Joshi. I can
actually name so many favorites in different
areas of work.
How is your rapport with the other teachers?
That question is two-sided. One side is my
opinion. But the ultimate rapport depends upon
not only my perception, but even theirs. So from
my side, I believe everyone works for a purpose.
Also, each does their work in a particular aspect,
based on what they are interested in. So I can’t
judge people based on what I am interested in.
And my personal bonding is such that there is
not a single person in college who I do not
speak to. I’m however closer to few professors
since I joined as we were the first group of staff
members in this college. Everyone knows me
since I teach Communication Skills and every
now and then they need me to help them with
something in English. So that works well for me.
What was your opinion about this college the
time you joined, and what is your opinion
now?
At that time I knew it was a new college, and the
college I worked in previously was in its infancy
too. I knew all the difficulties that a new institute
faces with regards to infrastructure, staff,
handling of students and many more
administrative duties. Because of that I really
managed to settle here really well. Hindrances
are bound to appear but the thing is not to stop,
or create a mind-set that is too critical to the
situation. I’ve never had any great expectations.
I feel very comfy in this college and I know I will
be here for a very long time.
What do you see in the future of our college?
As to the infrastructure we’ll be able to manage
to get that thing working, with a new building
coming up next to this one, it will surely work!!
With regards to the vision, I’m sure that, come
what may, we are going to make sure that this
is going to be a very successful college because
there were times when even we felt really low
and had our own doubts in the first year. But
right now I’m very confident in saying that this
college is just going to get better year by year
with loads of achievements.
Do you have a message for all the students
that are going to read this magazine?
My message for the students is simply that
‘they should realize WHY they are here!!’.
That is the only thing I have ever wanted
students to do. Everything else will follow.
(Nono ma’am, as we dearly address her,
smiles contentedly)

’Pizza With An Edge’
‘Square Pizza’ Located in our very own Mira Road, opposite of Old petrol pump, sells square pizzas
which are great in quality and less in price, exactly what college students are looking for, right? So we
paid them a visit and asked them to narrate the story of their origin and how did they make it as an
entrepreneur.
Very thank you for welcoming us at Square
Pizza - “Pizza with an edge” Mr. Jignesh
Pandeyji. First of all, we would like to ask why
did you opt for business?
Actually I hold a Degree in Hotel Management
and had an interest in this field since long time;
so after completing my degree, I did a small
business and then met this person Mr. Sonu and
we started these pizza outlets in partnership.
What was your aim when you were still
studying? I mean was it pre planned that you
want to run a business of your own someday?
Yes, my aim was to establish a business, start a
restaurant or something in same field.
Accordingly, I met Mr. Sonu and we started
these Pizza outlets.
What would you say about your partner Mr.
Sonu?
He helped a lot, unfortunately he had to be
somewhere else today. I met him through my
sister and he was looking for business partner
for few of his branches, so we both sort of got
along.
How long have you been in this industry?
I am in this industry since about a year now but
Mr. Sonu is in this industry since a long time,
about 7-8 years now.
What did he do before starting this pizza
chain?
He used to work in a pizza outlet before starting
this business.
What problems did you face while starting
this business?
We didn’t actually face much problems. You
should just know how to grab customers and
you are good to go in this industry.
What are/were your tactics to make this
business rise? Because there are many
other pizza outlets in this town, it must be
very competitive? What is your USP?
Basically our name says everything-Square
Pizza. It is how we are different from those
other pizza outlets. Everyone makes pizza in
round shape, we thought why only round,
18
and we made it square. This is what makes us
different. That is our USP.
How did you get this idea?
We were talking casually and this thought came
up, we tried it first and customers liked it, this
way quantity of pizza also increases.
Sir, you are an entrepreneur, you started a
business, according to you what is the thing
required to start a business. I mean is it
necessary to have experience before starting
anything?
Of course you need experience. You need
proper study of the field you want to start
business in. You need experience to make
anything successful.
Sir how do you manage all your workers, I
mean you gave us time today, how do you
manage your time between all this?
You obviously need time, you need to make
time for your workers, if they are happy only
then your business will run properly. You need
to listen to them and their needs also on a
regular basis.
Sir, you have this fabulous pizza outlet and
so many other branches. What is your
target/aim with this business?
I have only one target. Everyone should know
and talk about square pizzas.
How much have you achieved your goal yet?
Well, if I say I have achieved like 90% of my goal
then that might stop me, this is nothing what we
have done and it’s just 50%. We have a long way
to go yet and achieve a lot bigger goals.
What is your short term goal at present time?
Presently we are aiming at making this branch
bigger. There are many people here, it’s a
complete residential area and people do eat
pizzas but not many know about square pizza,
they all have Dominos and Pizza Huts in their
mind. So my short term goal is to make them
know about square pizzas, that is, publicize our
product.
We are currently students, what would you
advise us, I mean should we prefer a job or
start something of our own, like you did?
I would say do whatever your heart says, do only
that which makes you happy and confident. If
you have experience in certain field and you
think you can be successful then go for it, being
a businessman is a good thing.
Sir, can you tell us more about your
collaboration with Mr. Sonu.
He started this business alone at the Andheri
branch of our outlet. Then gradually he had a
partner with whom he started more branches,
but then it didn’t go to well between them.
When I met him he had a lot of experience in
this field and I had knowledge and degree in the
same. It made a perfect combination and we
both got along pretty well.
Is there anyone in your life without whom
you wouldn’t be where you are today?
I owe it all to two very important people, one is
my fiancé and other is a co-partner of mine
whom I call my sister. It’s all thanks to her that I
met Mr. Sonu.
So sir, are you happy with your business
today.
Yes, definitely I am happy, but I want to expand
this a little more. We have much more bigger
plans for this business.
For a venture like this you obviously need
money. Some of us may have family
money to start with, but what for those
who don’t, what will you advise them if
they want to start a business?
That person should first do some job,
preferably in same field and do some savings
and then start up an enterprise. Or you can
always get loans or find a partner who can
fund you. 19
Sir we are a part of NEC and Raw Ink and after
talking to you our thinking about being an
entrepreneur has changed a lot, we are truly
inspired. Thanks a ton sir.
- Raw Ink
20
Sir, if a person wants to starts a business
and he has experience, degree and
knowledge of that field but has no
contacts. He has no idea whom to
approach. What should he do then?
If you say you have experience and
knowledge then you definitely know how to
and where to start. Even if you don’t then you
should probably work in that field first and
make contacts, like Mr. Sonu did. He has a lot
of experience in this field and that’s been very
helpful.
Chat With A Celeb: The Student/Employee - Uday Joshi
The guy who has been backstage for almost every event, the guy who you ask a document from and
he magically makes it appear, the guy who does a lot of work and deserves some arrogance but still
humble as a bee and friendly as a child - none other than Uday Joshi.
For the first issue of our magazine’s “Chat with a Celeb” we found no one better than this guy. The
interview was done in his own natural habitat Computer lab 1-B where he is usually found.
How did you come to SLRTCE?
I did my HSC from Mithibai college; I didn’t
score really well in my CET, I didn’t get in Thakur
or K.J. Somaiya, but SLRTCE welcomed me with
open arms. When I first came to the college, the
college had only the first floor and it had only
four rooms along with the CP lab. (which later
became his natural habitat :P)
You enrolled as a student. How did you
become an employee? Translation: You do a
lot of work for the college, let it be fests or
events. How did it all begin?
In the first ‘Utsav’ fest of our college, they were
asking students if someone would be able to do
the designing part. The banners and backdrops
and what not. No one stepped up, but me. So I
designed the poster and after that no one was
ready to organize the events also. So I stepped
up again. I handled all the financial tasks for the
same really well. So after that, I was
summoned in every event for some work and
I enjoy to do so :D
Who will be your legacy? What happens
when you pass out from here?
See I feel that we are covered till 2016...I
know the TE and SE ke batches and they will
manage. After that I don’t know what will
happen. No offence to the freshers I don’t
know them at all really.
21
How were you as a student?
I was always first in my class (Says the guy VERY
casually). But I was placed second in the 9th
standard.
And how many people did you kill to keep
yourself at the top.
Only 2-3 (grins) but I failed in 11th standard in
physics for 5 marks. (And he didn’t kill the
teacher. We asked him)
What do you do when you are not working
for the college (Hobbies?)
Cricket, movies, reading books; the technical
ones; making apps for mobile, not desktop.
What are the plans for your future?
Always wanted to be an engineer, I want to work
for a couple of years and then pursue MBA.
What do you have to say about our college?
When I came to the college, the infrastructure
was really nice, also there were hardly 4-5 bikes.
Now the place feels like a parking lot of some
cinema. XD
Something about you no one knows
I am an open book, there are not much
things…yeah…although mujhe dekh ke lagta
nahi but there is person jiski me bohot taang
khichta hu. XD
Your Best friends?
Aditya Valera, Rishi Jasapara, Aditya Raval, Fazal
Momin, I don’t know much of S.E. and F.E.
people.
Who according to you is the best professor
in our college (not just teaching wise. Over-
all)?
Ravi Prakash Sir. He always encourages you to
go forward with the extra-curricular
activities...and he gives you constant support for
everything.
Your Message to the readers
When you start any event, do not think to
yourself that it cannot be done. Everything is
possible if you want to make it so.
Best wishes and God bless you Man! :D

“What’s In Your Bag?” - Bakra: Aditya Valera
Why do you bring a water bottle (with a
lame tone)?
Obviously! It’s a need for every man that they
need water every time (sounding too obvious).
What is that white “thingy” in your bag?
(Pointing at an old somewhat white packet)
(Holding it in hand) This white thing is ketchup
from McDonalds, I had taken a food parcel from
there and it’s been in my bag since then I guess.
Why do you bring it to college every day, and
why is it white? (Making a face somewhere
between disgust and sounding funny)
I had no idea it was in my bag, it must be there
since last 6 to 7 months (talking in a tone which
sounded more like guesswork)
Why do you carry all this “kachra”? (pointing
and picking up some scrambled papers from
his bag)
These are some important papers which I need
to keep and carry with me.
They don’t look important the way have kept
them (scrambling them a bit more).
Now let’s not do that, they are important to me
not to you (taking them away from his hands).
What are these (shaking some kind of
musical instrument found in his bag)?
As I am a musician, I like to carry these
instruments with me wherever I go. These are
called shakers (sounding proud).
Why have you got two ID cards?
I got my current year’s ID card just a few days
back so one of them is my last years.
What are your comments on new
MacBook pro (picking up his MacBook
from his bag)
It is the most awesome thing I have ever
used, ever touched.
Something tells me you don’t have a
girlfriend.
23
Girlfriends are different, they might hurt you but
this thing (the MacBook) will never hurt me.
(Slight laughter)
Let me smack you with this (MacBook) and
let’s see if it hurts (picking it up again and
sounding funny)
No, it will not and I don’t think I will allow you to
touch it. (Taking it away from him)
(Picking up some papers) what is with this
bunch of assignments, I never took you for
an assignment doing guy!
As you know we are engineering students, no
matter how lazy you are you need to submit
them.
What is this book? Why only one book?
(Laughing) Because this is a rule in engineering,
you don’t keep different books for different
subjects. I am in fact using this same book since
last year. Engineering is about unity, all subjects
should be together.
Why this raincoat?
I have to keep it since i carry my MacBook daily
wherever i go.
Okay what are other thing that are usually
there in your bag but you forgot or didn’t
bring today?
Usually I have my drumsticks, phone, MacBook
charger, headphones and a few other things like
lunch box.
Okay that’s interesting, what are the things
you never leave home without?
This (pointing at his phone) my cell phone, and
my headphones which I forgot today and my
shakers, I make sure they are always in my bag.
(Playing them a bit)
So how do you feel about this section in our
magazine?
I have no idea what magazine is going to be
about but it looks interesting and I wish you
guys luck.
Thank you and one last question, how do you
feel that your privacy just got violated and
now everyone will know “what’s in your bag”
I don’t mind, but I would really like to see a girl’s
bag, I am always curious about what they keep
in it that they have to be so secretive about.
(Laughing) We will keep your request in mind;
Thank you for being our first bakra for “What’s in
your bag”.

Education Section
Here, we have a guy for you who is dedicated towards studies, one of the brainy few who didn’t
get any ATKTs in the first year and he is a good writer as well. So keep in mind as the scholar lets his
secrets out, ‘Jan Hit me Jaari.’ :P Engineers do cool stuff. Plus, they make a ton of money doing it,
relatively speaking. To fulfill your dreams of getting job in some multinational company. All you need
is technical knowledge and an aggregate of 60% in your BE degree, at least to get in to the interview
room of any decent company. What use is your charisma and confidence if you don’t get selected
for the personal interviews?
Getting all clear through your degree and getting 60% makes you feel awesome. (Same can’t be said
for your parents) you got a seat in engineering. Now, a nasty surprise awaits you guys, this is the
beginning of a nightmare, where many falter, fail a year or two, or even leave the college, unable to
cope. Unless, you adopt a strategy to survive (yes, survive) you won't. There are six steps to get
awesome marks in B.E. degree.
1. Do buy the books early on.
It helps if you do so, books are cheaper early on, and you are at least aware of the
topics. Or at least make your parents think you are serious.
2. Have a careful look at the subjects.
Check out the subjects which appear tougher and lengthier. Make a clear assessment
of which subjects can be done within 5-6 days during the PL (preparation leave).
3. Tackle the tough ones first, remember that way you can try to understand what
is in the subject.
From my own experience, the tough ones require more time to understand, but
sometimes they are worth the effort.
4. DO NOT think that you can get away with passing 3-4 subjects per semester.
Once you get into the vicious circle of backlogs, it gets very tough to come out of it.
5. ALL THE SUBJECTS ARE IMPORTANT.
Of course, this is obvious. But, people sometimes devote too much time to one
subject, leaving others out It is a wrong strategy. Giving too little time or too much
time are equally bad.
6. Lastly, have self-confidence.
There is a thin line of difference between 55% and 60%. With a little more hard work,
anybody can do it.

"Miracles don't happen these days…"- they say. Well, I say, they
do!! I have seen them happening, experienced them to the core and
still living these moments with utmost pride! :) How awesome it feels
to be a part of such an institution which has evolved during all these
years; beginning right from scratch!
Yes! SLRTCE- A family filled with joy, love, warmth and happiness for all
its members. An institution that is a part of Shree Rahul Education
Society, with Shree L.R. Tiwariji as its founder is discovering new heights
and will continue to do the same in the future as well. The only place
where there is no boundary between teachers and students, knowledge
has found its way- right here. The long dusty roads and a tiring journey to the college, all this seems
becoming worth, once you enter the premises. It feels as if you have stepped into an altogether new
world. A world filled with awesomeness, awesomeness and awesomeness ;)
Not to forget, to add upon all this, we the members of SLRTCE feel proud to bring to ourselves-
“RAW INK"! The one and only destination of all happening stuff, various events, competitions being
held in college, right from your classrooms, covering your academia and sports to the techno world
and canteen stories too!! The creation of this magazine has been possible because of our very own
Aditya Raval (Editor in-chief, Raw Ink) & Zubeen Sayed (Soul of student’s council!!). With so much
support of our Editor in-chief Aditya Raval - one who can manage almost everything! And an extra-
energetic and lively team of "Raw Ink" I hope we make you stick to its pages forever ;)
Our only motto being Facts with Fun and Education with Entertainment, we promise to serve to
our readers "THE BEST"- something in which the entire team specializes. ;)
As a message to all my awesome-blossom readers all I want to say-‘Be a Winner, look like a

I am excited to share with you the first
issue of the Shree L. R. Tiwari college’s
official magazine. I as an ‘Ink Expert’ of
the magazine would be shedding light
on our life in B.E. and B.E. afterlife. I am
glad that I am a part of this magazine.
Life is all about giving exams on various
steps of our life, achieving success in
every step would make you proud of
yourself. The road to success is always
under construction. After your B.E. also
you would be facing exams; someone
would be appearing for aptitude test for
campus job, some would be cracking
GATE, GRE, GMAT or TOFEL exams.
I always like guiding people if they are
stuck in some problem or if they have any confusion. So the chief editor Mr. Aditya Raval thought
of making me as an Ink Expert for this magazine, so I could publish articles for you which would help
you guys. The first time I entered in this engineering college, like me there were ‘n’ number of people
who would be thinking how to get First Class in engineering, only aggregate of 60% would make u
eligible for aptitude test or for any entrance exam. How much you study is not important, how you
study is important. I always prefer studying smart instead of studying the whole book for exam. We
would also be posting if any of our students are pursuing MS or MBA degree so you can contact
them and take their guidance too.
In life there should be resolute pursuit of one’s aim. Success is not key to happiness, but happiness
is key to success if you love what you are doing then you would be successful. My happiness is in
helping others, so I love doing it.
“Let truth and duty be your watch words Strive for your goals and future is yours”
Wishing you to be winner in all your endeavors in life.

The long dusty roads lead to a faded white
building that looks languid from outside.
Upon entry it is resplendent with activity and
a characteristic buzz. Yes, welcome to Shree
L.R. Tiwari College of Engineering! A little
offbeat, but unapologetic of itself, it does have
this special zeal as does every other
engineering college, certainly more! I am
Pratik More, proud to belong to the first batch
to enter and very soon to leave this institution.
Yes the very batch which has seen the college
grow from its empty glory filled with just 4
classrooms and a handful of professors to this
‘giant’ it seems to us now. Over the years, this
institution has seen more changes internally
(yup that’s it) and is becoming more and more
complex for us simpletons to decode! (Yes, I
belong to Computers’ :P) Entering the final year involves a lot of anxiety about career and project.
But I was more skeptical about something else too. Will the juniors taking over be able to continue
and grow? Oh yes they do!! From helping us initially, to totally organizing events, they sure have
proved every skeptic wrong! (That includes me) Getting involved right from their first year, jumping
into every possible activity, they are well and truly able to take over the reigns! And with Aditya Raval
at the forefront, able hands look written all over. Raw Ink marks a new foray for this Institution and
is yet another step towards becoming complete. Being an “Ink expert” for our College’s first
magazine, this venture will unwrap a wholly new pot of ideas. A team filled with crazy people, I feel
I am the only sane person around. Or am I a bird of the same feather? Writing this article, I feel I am
already becoming one of them. With Raval in the lead this is going to be one exciting memorable
experience. Each issue we put forth will have an element of wackiness coupled with some exciting
articles, so that you will eagerly wait for the next issue (hopefully). ”Transcendental Evolution is
what we will continuously strive for” as every new issue launches. And evolve we will! After all,
we are Tiwarians right? Cheers!

I have always found it difficult to write these “ABOUT MEs”, so it’s difficult to figure out where to
start. Quoting Stephen Fry, I’ll start my description.
“You are who you are when nobody's watching.”
The five words that very accurately define me:
RANDOM CUDDLY AWESOME SHY GENUINE
I try to be optimistic most of the times; it is not
the case always. People describe me as being
moody, but I never noticed that part of myself.
I am very shy among strangers, a fact that is
pointed out to me every day by my stupid
friends. But once I get comfortable with
someone, they get to see me in a different light.
Life is random, and that part is exciting to me.
Who knows what the future holds, maybe I can
become the President of Macedonia or save the
world from global warming, or be among the
first men to colonize Mars. You never know!
Talking about random things, I love any kind of
random words that sound complex and super-
smart, for example “divergence” and “paradox”.
Except vanilla. I hate vanilla.
I have big goals and bigger ambitions, like starting my own game development company and single-
handedly bring up an entirely new market. And also playing the violin to a large audience!
My hobbies include reading fiction, playing games and watching TV shows, and I recently got into
the exciting world of Animes. There is nothing more satisfying than watching something that makes
you THINK - of things that you’ll never think on your own.
And that’s what I hope our magazine does! Start a discussion, debate or a healthy argument in
college: at the same time, be entertaining and fun to read!
And if you are one of those people who loves to do that, be sure to find me in college! Let’s make
some noise together, and pump some adrenaline into our quiet college life!

Born and bought up in Mumbai’s suburban area, I grew
up thinking someday all these people around me will know
me, and someday I will be famous. But as I completed my
school and turned towards adolescence, my thinking
changed completely. I started to think that being famous
doesn’t matter, it’s not about my name or fame or any such
thing but it’s about what I do that matters. Well this actually
reminds me of a fictional character I grew up reading and
watching. His writers wrote something that made a
permanent place in my brain; “It is not who I am
underneath, but what I do that defines me.”
It is funny how characters that don’t even exist affect our
lives and thinking. I am sure all of us would have at least one such character from their favorite
movie, show, book or any such thing that inspires us, inspires our thinking. Well, this went a bit off
topic, but coming back to writing about me. My name is “Pushkar” born on 24th of July, I am an
‘anarchist’ and ‘apatheist’. Many people find this offensive but I like to think that we all have freedom
of thoughts and views. Now coming to think about what I am writing, you all can find this things on
my Facebook page also. Add me if you want to know me better (trust me I am very friendly :P). I
hardly get angry. I like to smile at whatever this world has to give me. My friends tease me, frankly I
don’t care, and I just smile at them. (Well to be honest that’s partly because I know them and they
are my good friends :P).
That’s enough about me, if you people really want to know me then be my friend, and I would love
to be yours. Because that according to me is the best part of our college (my friends here). Talking
about Raw Ink, what is my role in this magazine? I am an Ink Expert for our magazine. Our magazine
covers every aspect of a student’s life. We being engineering students, technology will be our bread
and butter. It is very important for us to be updated with recent technological advancements
happening around the globe. Hence our magazine contains article related to them. Now we don’t
want to bore our readers, we have tried our best only to post articles that may interest our
generation and written them as informal as they could get. ;)
We the entire Raw Ink committee is just a medium, a medium through which we want to make you
all realize how awesomeness can be found even in a newly opened college located where many
would not even think of traveling on a regular basis for 4 years. “People might think it’s an
obsession. A compulsion. As if there were irresistible impulses to act. It’s never been like
that. We chose this. We know what we are doing. And we are proud of it.”

There is a saying that ‘if you follow all the rules you end up having a completed checklist and
when you follow your heart, you achieve happiness.... (well... not always. Life is kind of twisted that
way)..... and a complete you!’ Though it was merely marks that got me into this college, it was my
heart that led me to the crazy gang, the team of “Raw Ink” and there isn’t a part of me that regrets
being a part of this college. This college is growing to become one of the best colleges of Mumbai
and unlike any silly verdict given out by the website “stupidsid.com”, this college is NOT a below–
the-average college, but one that is going to be stellar!! .....and we the students of S.L.R.T.C.E are
going to prove it (hell yeah!!).
Since I am in my final year and am always clouded by the thoughts of assignments, placements,
projects etc., being an “Ink Expert” for Raw Ink is nothing but exciting, challenging, and a breath of
fresh air. I always have enjoyed writing and now I have a chance to do it for our college magazine.
Thanks to the college authorities and Aditya Raval aka ‘Babydoll’ (for taking the initiative of bringing
up this magazine). We, as the team of Raw Ink are going to try our best and bring in the best of
news and articles and so much more just for the students of this college (hope you all support and
love it).
One of the things that I have learnt in this college is
‘You can’t always change a certain situation but you
surely can change your attitude towards it and make
the best out of it (and attend lectures :P)’.
Cheers to the Raw Ink team and S.L.R.T.C.E engineers
because for us “good enough means perfect” and we
will attain perfection.

“People do not remember what you have told them but they
always remember what you did for them and how you made them
feel”.
This is the quote I like to live by. People are good to you if you
treat them in a good way and to earn respect you have to give
respect. This ideology always sticks by me no matter what. I am a
simple and a straightforward guy, always cherishing every moment
that passes by. I am fond of music and it is the only thing that
makes me move my lazy bum. I am lazy to the core, but I get
equally excited about things that fascinate me. I do not believe in
fairy tales and I also do not believe in luck and destiny. You have
to build your own wonderland with your own hard-work.
Seeing dreams is easy, fulfilling them is not. It is a road of stones and pits, which goes through
tumbles and rumbles but always makes you reach your destination. Being born and brought up in
Dubai, I shifted to India in 2000 and I further plan to study and settle in the United States with
probably my own company flourishing in the ‘Silicon Valley’. I wish to roam the entire world one day
(like everyone wishes :p ). I have always dreamt big and always look forward to achieving them.
Another thing that always glues me to it is coding. What immense pleasure it gives to create new
things and get appreciated by people that in some way or the other changes the way they live and
function! Even a simple solution to a simple problem is what simply satisfies me. Technology drives
me and I love being surrounded by technology on all sides. BTW, I am not a geek but yes I am
passionate for technologies and also for building technological beauties.
Probably, this was the reason that the Raw Ink team found a worthwhile Technical Lead in me. I am
responsible for creating and finalizing the design of the magazine, making it LIVE! on the internet
and making the magazine ‘technologically sound and equipped’. Sometimes, I might just contribute
by writing an article or two (obviously if I am allowed by the ‘Editor in Chief’ :p ). I might then have
another badge of being an ‘Ink Expert’ for the magazine.
Looking forward to make the magazine go green, save paper and make it available online to all.
Maybe this would help me reduce my ‘Carbon Footprints’. I hope that you all would appreciate the
online version of the magazine and keep giving feedbacks about the same so as to make the
magazine better and obviously one of its kind.
Message to the readers – “Be sure to stand in the right place and then make sure you always
stand by”.

“People strive their best to make their ‘Day Dreams’ come true” –Zubeen Sayed :P
The very reason why I didn’t take any other well-known personality’s quote is that I believe in myself.
Although I think that I am good in copying somebody and going under their skin to be like them, still I
feel that no one can beat your ‘own’ originality. And thus I think that my quote is becoming true in for me
because since my childhood I am inclined towards drawings, colors, animation, dancing...and my passion
acting! Umm. well if we sum all this into one, ‘Fun’.
Born and bought up in Mumbai’s Western Suburb reading Marvel and
DC comics, Magazines like Filmfare and Top Gear, Newspapers like Times
Of India and Bombay Times and hanging around at Crossword (Heaven
for all readers ;) ). Thus being a vital part of the college magazine ‘Raw
Ink” excites me to the core which allows me to put forward my creativity
in my own way and also to socialise and interact with people.
I know that coming to college is quite a task, (and if u come walking then
#Salute :P ) but but but we should accept this fact that SLRTCE is the
world among itself. Educated as well as pampering teachers and staff
members are a very pleasant gift by Shree Rahul Education Society; with
Shree L.R. Tiwari Sir as its founder. All they need is a good belief and
support from their students to help the institute and college flourish. Thus
realising a very own magazine is an initiative to cover all the expressions of this college into one!
Raw Ink- The only destination where the base is not “Google” but ”SLRTCE”! ;) #ShowOff :D
What’s my role in Raw Ink??!! I am the Design Head of the magazine and I take care of entire appearance.
College is a place where we are ‘One yet Divided’. Thus I would like to break this cliché and invite all the
suggestions by the students as well as teachers regarding the design and appearance of Raw Ink.
We the entire Raw Ink committee are not the ‘icons’, ‘stars’ or anything like that sort of our college, but
we are just a ‘Medium’ through which we can make YOU realise that Awesomeness is within
everybody…it’s just the game of time and situation which will untangle the result.
So I will wrap up by saying “Some People Dream of Success. Others Make It Happen.”

Hey, to all the enthusiastic readers of the SLRTCE, this is our attempt to give a platform to all the
talents hidden in the SLRTCE. We the people of SLRTCE have given birth to the college magazine
named ‘Raw Ink’. I, Swapnil Salvi, the overwhelmed DOP of the same is grateful to college for giving
me a chance to portray my talent in this esteemed magazine.
The passion for photography sparked in my life
when I entered into engineering, hoping that
someday even my friend will post a letter to ‘ANDRE
ISTAVAN’ ”:P lolz :P”. So my journey started with
travelling in two coaches of different trains that were
“ENGINEERING” and “PHOTOGRAPHY”, till now
both the trains are successfully traveling to their
own destinations.
As the DOP of this magazine I would like to unfurl
the concealed talent and exhibit them on the
upcoming editions. It is not necessary for one to
have a DSLR camera (it helps but it’s not necessary
:P) to be a good photographer, all you need is a
rattled vision. As phrased “Beauty lies in the eyes of
the beholder” photography is all about perceiving,
capturing and portraying clicks to the viewers. Now
enough of this talking as a photographer, basically
what we are looking for is a totally AWESOME and
cool clicks from you guys.
To conclude with this, I just hope that you like, in
fact you love our issues of the magazine and
willingly participate in it. And lastly a small message
for all the readers
“Either click and create smiles OR smile and Get clicked.”

Sensible, smart, attentive, clear sighted,
discerning, quick, adorable, artistic, sensitive,
fabulous, fearless, fantastic, calm, captivating,
careful, giving, glorious, dashing and a lot more are
the qualities that I like in my cat. Actually I don’t
have a cat but I liked the idea of having a cat, so
yeaaaa!
Me? I am a shallow, conceited, arrogant good-for-
nothing. I can also be the most sincere, thoughtful
gentleman you’ll ever meet. I believe life is all about
taking chances and meeting new people, experiencing new things, and having your perceptions
altered. People think they have a "type". People think I have a "type". I prefer not to categorize.
Personally, I like to go out to trek, also to museums, concerts, restaurants, malls, shopping etc. I like
to have a good time wherever I am and I love to laugh and make others laugh. In my time alone I
enjoy keeping up with the news, reading novels, writing, and music. I love to sing in the shower, kick
back in my pajamas and watch movies with a bowl of pop-corn or cold drink...or both. I do give foot
rubs if I like you. I make mistakes, lots of them actually. And I am not very good with apologies, I
practically suck at it.
I am the guy with ambitions as big as the horizon : that being said, I am a workaholic when it comes
to doing something I love. I like to be creative and get very philosophical sometimes.
If you're the type who just looks at pictures to decide who you will talk to, that's great; I can be just
as one-dimensional as you. If you actually believe in getting to know the person, that's cool, too; I
love conversation.
I love music of all sorts. I'll get down with whatever's good. I've got my tastes but I'm not a snob. I
like Lady Gaga as much as I do Iron maiden, however I hate the Black Eyed Peas.
Did I tell you I love writing? Yea. So this magazine is our way of starting a new trend in our college,
raising it from an infant to a toddler. Filled with lots of articles and interesting stuff, we plan on
doing something different, and hope to make everyone laugh, smile or giggle while we are at it!
So,Mirror mirror on the wall, aint I the awesomest of them all?!?
I guess I am ;)
Thanks

When normal, healthy minded people are asked to talk about
themselves and praise themselves, they tend to hesitate! The
thing about me is, I am not a normal, healthy minded person; at
least I have been told so! The blacks and whites of life bore me.
So I have set upon a journey to find the colors that amuse me.
Born before the end of the millennium and after the
independence of India... I was destined to be weird and I am living
up to it. Everyone who doesn’t know me thinks I am weird…And
everyone who does, agrees.
Born and raised in Gujarat…moved to Mumbai, I have had my
share of experiences of different cool things and people. But never
have I had a chance to be a part of something as awesome as a magazine…!! Right now I am
overwhelmed and proud to write for the Magazine of SLRTCE…which would not have been possible
at all without the heavy lifting done by the rest of my team. Enough of modesty...Again some Me-
time! I am the Editor-in-Chief of the magazine and the Creative Head…you are welcome :P
Deciding what we should include in the magazine and also compiling the final issue and submitting
it to the authorities are just a few of my responsibilities...so as I said… you are welcome. I really hope,
apart from all the selfish articles and lame jokes we will print throughout the course of the magazine,
you will stick with us…but then again you have no choice…we are the only magazine of this college
B)
Jokes apart…We hope to entertain you and raise the roof with every issue we publish; looking
forward to entertaining you until I am in the college and then pass the torch.
I would also like to thank all the teachers who patiently bore through our nuisance. Also
‘gasidygasuiydfaus ubacgiuydgcoiahsgdchyaqw7djakoadodascdygxhyc souadyhuodjpaowidasd’
just to prove that I am indeed weird :P. My team and I are quite fond of the word “Awesome” and
its variants, because we hear that the most…whether as a compliment or as a suggestion…I would
not specify.
Summing up, I am a guy who is interested in everything interesting and likes everything likeable.
Except cricket…it sucks :P …. And for me, ‘i’ is not always capital. Fond of acting, dancing, singing
and programming (more of that on my Résumé. XD)
Also, I was told by the editor in chief (ME!! :P) to include a message for the readers as well…and
apparently the stuff I was blabbering 10 lines ago doesn’t count :/ so here goes…
