There is often an inevitable objectification in bodies drawn for art . How many models and muses are left anonymous, hanging in galleries? Most of the faces and bodies immortalised in drawing are immortal only in their ties to the artist.

Why not imagine these people instead? People manifested in ones mind can be used without fear of objectification when they don’t exist as objects at all.

Lives for these people can be created by the creator and the viewer and no one would be right or wrong; they don’t exist in an objective world.

My work explores ancient symbolism as a reference of the solar, lunar and female embodiment. I explore times before the immensity of the fe-male was forgotten, when the female was adorned and portrayed through goddesses representative of the oceans, the moon and the stars.

In perceiving an object, one occupies a separate space; it is this de-tachment that I want to ‘interrupt’ within my work. Alternating the space of a room itself by the presence of an object, as is done in the everyday, playing upon creating structures that physically and al-most aggressively disturb the environment in which the viewer is with-in. Forming boundaries that question the idea of an object having its own existence as well as its relationship to the four walls that sur-round it. Architectural in style, within my work I am creating something that is minimalist with geometrical abstraction that occupies multiple planes.

Collaging has become a means to detach, examine and re-group memories or recurrent moments in my life. Exploring the fragmented self with rem-iniscence of plasticity has led me to questioning around the value of entities that document memories. By using materials typically throw-away or considered less permanent, I am interested in exploring themes of preservation, sentiment and formality.

My displayed work shows memories and objects of varied significance to myself which transcribe narratives of fluidity in relationships and self identification. These have been archived into two forms: the wall of plaques and the display installation.

Statement:Throughout my work I have transcendentally reclaimed pink. It has become a symbol of strength rather than the delicate stereotype that accompa-nies colours and gender politics. Recently I have explored graffiti and abstract expressionism. With my largescale abstract painting I intended to create a contrast between the derelict Brixton bloc and my art, jux-taposing the ideas of fine art and street art. Creating a powerful paint-ing that is feminine, but not gentle and ladylike. I want to reclaim feminine, because I want words like strength and bold to represent me.
