Curricular Aspects :

Being affiliated to Dr.B.R.Ambedkar University, Etcherla, Srikakulam Dist., the college follows the prescribed curricula and strives for its effective operationalization. As per the instructions of the Commissionerate of Collegiate Education, AP, Hyderabad, regular teachers attend the Orientation and Refresher courses conducted by Academic Staff Colleges of various Universities in AP for professional enrichment and effective handling of the curriculum. Proper planning for curriculum transaction is made in the beginning of the academic year by all the departments which prepare topic-wise lesson plans and day-wise schedule of teaching-learning process. The college focuses on Student-Centred learning practices for effective transaction of curriculum in the class room. Curriculum will be updated by incorporating additional inputs wherever necessary to suit the job-market needs of the students. Feed back system is in vogue on classroom transaction of curriculum.

Teaching-Learning and Evaluation :

Students opting for this institution hail from different backgrounds from culture, language and locality point of view. Most of the students are of poor economic background. They hail from Ichapuram town and nearby villages. The college caters to the needs of the students with bilingual influence. Students speak both Telugu and Oriya and those students whose mother-tongue is Oriya opt for Oriya II language and Special Oriya as group subject.

5

Students are admitted to the courses by a transparent, well administered mechanism as per rules and admission procedures in vogue. It receives more applications than the sanctioned strength. The admission process is publicized through local electronic media and print media. The admission schedule is also displayed on the notice board. Students are admitted into various courses based on merit-cum-roster procedure Since students hail from diverse backgrounds from community and locality point of view, the college takes cognizance of ‘student diversity’ and caters to their diverse needs from linguistic and cultural perspective. Learners with low academic abilities will be identified and special care will be taken.. Students have access to MANA TV lessons, both live and recorded, for more effective learning through ICT. An action plan is prepared at the beginning of the academic year based on the broad guidelines provided by the Commissioner of Collegiate Education and Affiliating University and implemented accordingly.

Continuous and comprehensive evaluation is made besides formal examination system in terms of Unit tests, term examinations and University examinations.

Research, Consultancy and Extension :

As the institution confines itself to offer undergraduate programmes, the scope for research activity on the part of students is bleak. As regards teacher research activities, since most of the regular lecturers are recently recruited ones, they have not applied for either Major Research Projects or Minor Research ones. Two Staff members are PhD holders and 3 more staff members have been registered for PhD. One lecturer in Oriya has already submitted the PhD thesis to the university. Though there are no straightaway research activities on the part of the students, research oriented thinking is inculcated among them.

Free consultancy services are provided by English and Commerce departments. The English lecturer has provided training and consultancy in English Language Teaching [ELT], Teaching of English Grammar and Literature to hundreds of English teachers in School Education Department.

Infrastructure and Learning Resources:

The College needs some improvement from this perspective. Infrastructure facilities like English Language Lab, Science Lab, Auditorium, Gymnasium, Conference Hall etc. are yet to be provided in full swing. Library facility is available in the college and nearly 5500 books are available in the college. The librarian post has been vacant for 17 years. The top management i.e. the Commissionerate of Collegiate Education[CCE] issues instructions and guidelines from time to time regarding activities for effective execution and implementation at college level under the administrative control and leadership of the Principal, who is executive head of the institution. CPDC [College Planning and Development Committee] makes suggestions and resolutions for college development. IQAC under the Chairmanship of the Principal is responsible for academic governance and internal academic audit of the college. External academic audit is conducted from time to time by the academic wing of the Commissionerate of Collegiate Education.

College grooms leadership among students through academic activities like class seminars, and competitions like debate and elocution and through cultural activities like celebration of annual day, fresher’s day et. Community activities are carried out by NSS, consumer club, heritage club, red ribbon club and eco clubs of the college.

Innovations and Best Practices:

Adoption of Student-Centred Learning methodology besides other accepted methodologies is the latest innovation. Teachers are encouraged to use teaching aids, news paper clippings, subject specific video clippings downloaded from Internet for better transaction of content.

Commerce Department keeps financial bulletin in the department to give updated knowledge and information to the students about finance sector of the country.

English Department has selected certain topics of everyday importance [ about 100 topics] for students to speak on. Each student is encouraged to speak on any topic of his choice for 3 to 5 minutes at a stretch without using mother tongue. Fluency, accuracy and appropiracy are the key factors to be mastered simultaneously by the students from this practice. The practice is entitled ‘Everyday Topics for Speaking”

Another practice is on Reading Comprehension. The English Lecturer has designed some 60 cards containing 60 passages with 25 test items on each card, thus totally 1500 test items of multiple choice, blank filling, testing vocabulary, general comprehension and identifying mother tongue equivalents. Once the students answer these test items, they can perceive a lot of improvement in their ‘Reading Comprehension’ ability. Questions of factual,

7

inferential and extrapolative type have been framed. This has been proved to be very effective in the improvement of reading comprehension ability on the part of the student.

Jobs for Humanities Majors

Students of the humanities are not just well-versed in their subject, they are also great communicators and excellent writers. They often have a love of arts and people as well. These qualities translate to a host of job options. Read below to discover just a few possibilities.

Teacher

Given the focus on writing and speaking in a humanities major, graduates are well-prepared to become teachers. However, aspiring elementary, middle school or high school teachers usually need to be licensed, and licensure requirements include completion of a teacher-preparation program and a state exam, in addition to a bachelor's degree. Postsecondary teachers usually hold a doctoral degree, though some colleges hire teachers who only hold a master's degree.

Advertising Sales Agent

While a high school diploma may be sufficient for some sales positions, many employers prefer job applicants with a college degree. Some humanities majors may be well-suited for advertising sales positions - this line of work requires excellent communication skills.

Technical Writer

The subject matter may be dry, but you'll be able to continue honing your abilities as a writer. You'll also have to judge your audience and write for them accordingly.

Artist

Are you an artist or craftsman? Use the communication skills you gained while getting your degree to market yourself and be your own boss. Set up your own website and go freelance as an artist for magazines and newspapers, or sell your art to individuals.

Counseling

A humanities bachelor's degree is a perfect starting point for someone who wants to be a counselor. Most counseling positions require completion of a master's degree, and licensure is often necessary as well.

17

Event Organizer

You know how to plan and organize, and you know how to make people happy. All you have to do is utilize those skills and set up events for different companies and their clients or employees.

Public Relations Manager

Public relations is a growing career field and requires strong reading, writing and interpersonal skills. Combine this with your understanding of human nature and you are ready to help others create and maintain their public image.

Travel Agent

Help individuals and groups plan their dream vacation. Be it a cruise or a 10-day trip to Europe, you will plan each facet of the trip and tailor the trip to your client's needs. If you're bilingual, you can specialize in tours in countries where people speak your second language.

Lawyer

As a lawyer, you'll use your reasoning and people skills to advise clients and guide them through the legal system. Earning a bachelor's degree in humanities is one way to prepare for law school. In addition to a bachelor's degree, you'll need to earn a Juris Doctor (JD) and pass the bar exam to become a lawyer.

Editor

You've edited your own work and maybe other people's papers throughout college. Why not make a profession out of it? Look for a company that needs someone to edit technical work, or work from home editing magazine articles.

Museum Worker/Curator

Turn your interest in art and anthropology into your dream job at a museum. Museums are always trying to hire recent grads. They need tour guides and people to run the help desk. With some experience and a master's degree in museum studies, you might work your way up to a curator position and manage the museum's collections and activities.

FBI Agent

Working for the FBI sounds like something out of a crime drama, but the FBI needs people who know how to read and interact with others. Your knowledge of foreign cultures and languages can be an asset in this career.

Interpreter and/or Translator

If you learned a second language as a humanities student, you can become an interpreter or a translator. These professionals translate a foreign language into English or vice versa. Interpreters specialize in spoken or signed language, while translators work primarily with written materials.

Genealogist

Is your passion learning about the history of people and their origins? Genealogy could be for you. If you enjoy research and solving puzzles, take a look at prospects in this career field.

Advertising Manager

To sell something, you have to know how to speak to your audience. As a humanities major, you know how to get inside people's heads. Use your art skills and knowledge to create ads for products. Keep in mind, though, that most managers in this field have professional experience, so you probably won't land a managerial position right out of college.

18

Journalist

If you think writing is in your future, look everywhere from blogs to local newspapers. You already have a lot of the skills required here, and you might also be good at interviewing subjects.

Foreign Correspondent

If you have an interest in journalism, consider working your way up the ranks to be a foreign correspondent. Knowing about different cultures, languages and histories is a good background to have for this job.

Human Resources Specialist

If you're good at dealing with people, human resources is right for you. Human resource specialists are integral to the interviewing and hiring process. You'll also work with employees on any problems they might have, manage benefits packages and arrange certain events and seminars.

Librarian

If you're an inquisitive, organized person who likes to help people with research questions, think about becoming a librarian. While you need a master's degree to become a librarian, your humanities degree will give you an excellent base to build upon.

Education Administration

Maybe you don't want to be a teacher, but you're still interested in education. Schools, colleges and universities need all sorts of people to help them, and you might find your niche in a student affairs, admissions or financial aid department. A master's degree is generally required, but not always.

Social Worker

If you're passionate about helping people and you understand human behavior, there are a variety of careers in social services that don't require an advanced degree. If you're thinking about a graduate degree in social work or a similar field, getting some practical experience in the field is a smart move.

Linguist

A linguist is an expert in language, be it your own or a foreign language. Linguists work for the government, educational institutions and other organizations.

What is a Career Planning?

20

It is a multi-step process of choosing an occupation, getting a job, growing in job, possibly changing the career/s and eventually retiring. It requires systematic planning at every step.

Myths about choosing a career:

Choosing a career is very simple: It is a multi-step process and involves a lot efforts, time and expertise.

A career counselor can tell you what occupation you should select: A career counselor only provides you guidance and helps in decision making. But you are the only one who should take a final decision about your career.

I should choose a career from a "Best Careers" list: You shouldn't use this list to dictate your choice. Very often what is hot this year won't be hot a few years from now. You should choose your career based on your interests, aptitude, values, qualification and skills.

Making a lot of money will make me happy: Money is important however, it isn't the only factor you should consider while choosing a career. Job satisfaction is an important factor.

Once I choose a career I'll be stuck in it forever: If you are unsatisfied in your present career for any reason you must change it. However job changing should not be an addiction.

My skills will go waste if I change career: Many skills are transferable skills. The skills acquired in one job can be applied in another job but with some modifications.

If my friend/sister/uncle/neighbor is happy in a career, I will be too: Everyone is different and what works for one person will not necessarily fit for another even though many of the things are common.

Why there is need for Career planning? There is a fierce competition for getting a space in the world of jobs. Globalization of economy and advancement in science, technology and management practices has created many new career avenues. Availability of many career options results confusion in the minds of students and parents. Good understanding of career planning process is important so to face competition, to weed out confusion and to choose a right career option.

What is a proper age for career planning? Age that could be considered appropriate for starting a career planning is 14-15 years. This is because immediately after 10th standard you have to choose one stream from the three viz. science, arts/humanities and commerce. The combination of appropriate subjects is equally important. For example, if you want to do a career in Medical field, you should not only take science stream but proper combination of subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Biology).

What should be main considerations for career planning?

i) Potentiality, capability, aptitude, interests, values, personality, acquired skills and natural talent are important considerations in career planning.

ii) Financial status of family (It is important for the courses which require high fees).

iii) Practicability and authenticity of training courses (never take the claims of flashy advertisements at their face value).

iv) Accessibility for proper career guidance at affordable cost.

21

v) Availability of financial aid and scholarships.

Which are the most important steps in career planning?

Following six steps are crucial in career planning.

1. Goal setting: It depends on academic qualifications, experience, priorities and expectations in life. One can set knowledge based goals (Ph.D in four years) or hierarchical goals (Head in HR department within 5 years) or monetary goals (earn 1 million rupees per annum) or combination of goals. Goal should have a time frame otherwise goal dilutes into a wish). Goal setting is a continuous life long process.

2. Self-assessment and evaluation:Gaining knowledge about your-self (through value, interest, personality inventories and skill assessment) is crucial in a career planning. Your self assessment will help you to know which careers are suitable for you. It also helps in capitalizing your strengths and potentials. Different values viz. autonomy, prestige, security, interpersonal relations etc. are important in career planning. These values have a significant role in one's job satisfaction. Personality inventories is about one's individual traits, motivational drives, needs and attitudes. Skills assessment determines what you're good at. You must acquire the specific skills that are needed for a particular career.

3. Exploration of career options:Gathering information about careers is a pains taking but very crucial aspect in career planning. For each career you must have in-depth information about job description, qualifications required (Certificates/diploma/degrees/special course/ licenses), skills essential, personal qualities necessary, experience required, working conditions (working hours, physical efforts, stress level, etc), job location, opportunities of career advancement and salary range. Make a list of careers generated through self-assessment (it may lengthy). Short list 5-6 careers from the list based on your natural talent, qualifications you acquired, your passion and experience. Then narrow down your options (2-3) through job shadowing, part time work, internships/volunteering and informational interviews. Visit to job fairs/Exhibition/Lectures/Workshops also provides good information about careers in a short time. Volunteering and part-time work provides an actual work experience.

4. Making a decision: You have to select one career option. This decision making can be difficult since there may still be many unknowns. However, your decision making skill allows you to take appropriate decision.

5. Plan of action: Develop a job search strategy immediately after the final decision on career election. This includes a searching the availability of job, writing resume, gathering information about employer/s, training, acquiring skills (if required), preparing for job interview/s and finally accepting the job. The membership in various professional organizations (related to your job) gives you an instant access to high-ranking professionals in the field of your interest. Before attending interview you must make sure that your resume highlights your skills and strengths based on the employer’s needs.

6. Catch hold of opportunities: A successful professional takes right opportunity and turns it into a milestone of career advancement. A selection of right career offers " a lifelong economical and social stability".

Selecting a career path:

Careers after secondary education (10th std):Ideally this is the stage that sets the course of your future. You need to make one out of five choices at your disposal at this stage.

22

i) Science with maths:  Problem solving, quick understanding and application of knowledge are essential for career in engineering, Science, Technology, IT, etc.

ii) Science with biology: Problem solving, good diagram drawing and good memorization are essential for medical field, science, agriculture, microbiology, biotechnology, bioinformatics, environmental sciences, clinical research, nano-biotechnology, etc

iii) Commerce: Ability to work with numbers and good communication skill is essential for Banks, industrial accounting, managment and finance sector.

iv) Arts/Humanities: Keen interests in human civilization, society, history, political and social sciences, economics, languages, etc. Languages, performing arts, social and political sciences are important in Arts field.

v) Vocational courses: Short term courses of fitter, turner, electrician, computer repairing, mobile repairing, office assistant, typing, computer accounting provides job opportunities. Now a days vocational coureses are becoming important to get jobs with less qualification.

Careers after higher secondary (12th std): Main choices are academics, professional courses, competitive exams and entrepreneurship. Students can take conventional courses (B.Sc/B.Com/B.A). professional courses(BTech/BE/MBA/DPharm/BCA/BCS/BBA/MBBS/BBA) or start business.

Careers after graduation and post graduation:There are number of post graduates courses (M.Sc/M.Com/M.A). The post graduate diploma courses, M.Phil. and Ph.D. are also good choices at post graduate level.

Science stream:There is a general assumption of most of parents, teachers and even students in our society that the best students opt for science. In fact, brilliance and intelligence is not the exclusive domain of science. Not only stream but combination of subjects is also important. The students interested in engineering must have a combination of mathematics, physics and chemistry (MPC) subjects. Now a days students perusing BTech in biotechnology, nano-biotechnology, environmental sciences, etc requires biology. The students wish to take up medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, agricultural science, dairy science or biological sciences (biochemistry, biotechnology, bioinformatics, etc), the combination of subject should be biology, physics and chemistry (BiPC). It also opens up the gateway to a large number of career and course options such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing, computer, business administration, hotel management, tourism management, hotel management, fashion technology, industrial design, packaging, aircraft maintenance engineering and many more.

Arts/Humanities stream: This stream requires bent of artistic mind and profound interest in languages, culture, politics, sociology and human behavior. After 10 + 2 students can take BA degree course. Many career options viz. travel & tourism, advertising, journalism, performing arts, etc. are available to arts students. Arts is also the favorite choice of many students who wish to appear for the various competitive examinations.

Commerce stream:This stream opens up a variety of options after 10 + 2 stage. Commerce students must have good communication skill and should have interest in handling numerical data. Commerce students can take up Chartered accountancy, cost accountancy or company secretary-ship course after 10 + 2. It is wise to obtain the basic B.Com degree first. B.Com with Computer or management knowledge gives large base for jobs in different fields.

Proverbs : Here is the list of important proverbs. Try to get their meaning for leading your life with values.

Distance lends enchantment to the view

God helps those that help themselves Hasty climbers have sudden falls He that runs fast will not run long He who would climb the ladder, must begin at the bottom If the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch Lend your money and lose your friend Man proposes, God disposes Misfortunes never come single Necessity is the mother of invention Never judge from appearances

28

No pains, no gains No rose without a thorn No smoke without fire No wisdom like silence Nothing is impossible to a willing heart Oil and truth will come to the surface Old men are like children Praise makes good men better, and bad men worse Prevention is better than cure Promise little but do much Pull out one tooth and pull out more Rats desert a falling house Rule your passions, or they will rule you Sadness and gladness succeed each other Set a thief to catch a thief Some thing is better than nothing Spare the rod and spoil the child Speak well of the dead Speak when you are spoken to Strike while the iron is hot Sweet things are bad for the teeth Take things s they come The anger of a good man is the hardest to bear The best physicians are Dr.Diet, Dr.Quiet and Dr.Merryman The burnt child dreads the fire The frog in the well knows nothing of the great ocean The reward of unlawful pleasure is lawful pain The sandal tree perfumes the axe that fells it There is a great force hidden in a sweet command There is many a slip between the cup and the lip To err is human, to forgive divine Too many cooks spoil the broth Two in distress make sorrow less We can live without friends but not without our neighbours What can’t be cured must be endured When you are in Rome, do as Romans do Where there’s will, there’s way Sticks and stones are thrown only at fruit bearing trees Fame is the perfume of heroic deeds, the deeds last but the perfume doesn’t A man of pleasure is a man of grief A stitch in time saves nine Better late than never Don’t build castles in the air Don’t go near the water until you have learned to swim Never answer a question until it is asked All good things must come to an end He who falls today may rise tomorrow It may be a fire but tomorrow it will be ashes It is easy to be wise after the event As soon as man is born, he begins to die A day of sorrow is longer than a month of joy Great pains cease us to forget the little ones

29

Life is road beset with roses and thorns Misery loves company Misfortune does not always come to injure Old men go to death, death comes to young men She grieves sincerely who grieves unseen Six feet of earth makes all men equal The first breath is the beginning of death There is no pain so great that time will not soften They who live in a worry invite death in a hurry Love makes time pass away, and time makes love pass away Marry in haste and repent in leisure Men are April when they woo, December when they wed Never marry for money, but marry where money is Old love doesn’t rust One always returns to one’s first love The lover in the husband may be lost The quarrel of lovers is the renewal of love The weeping bride makes a laughing wife We are born crying, live complaining and die disappointed The old forget, the young don’t know The old man who is loved is winter with flowers Old age comes uncalled Life that is too short for the happy is too long for the miserable He lives longest that is awake most hours Knowledge comes but wisdom lingers They are able because they think they are able Beauty is only skin-deep Beauty is in the eye of the beholder Life is not a bed of roses A sound mind in a sound body Fortunes favour the brave In a calm sea, every man is a pilot/sailor A candle lights others and consumes itself He that is born a fool is never cured Spare the rod and spoil the child He who would climb the ladder must begin at the bottom Cowards die many times before their death Don’t cry over spilt milk Borrowing is sorrowing No sweet without sweat Faults are thick where love is thin Great men have great defects No foe to a flatterer Flattery is the food of fools Friendship is a plant which must often be watered Where there is will there is way After dark clouds comes a clear sky It is easy to be wise after the event Experience is the best teacher A little knowledge is a dangerous thing It is a fortunate head that never aches It is better to please a fool than to anger him

30

When the cat is away the mice will play Every cloud has a silver lining A friend in need is a friend in deed Strike while the iron is hot Give a man luck and throw him into the sea A little pot is soon hot = A small person is quickly annoyed There’s black sheep in every flock A tree must be bent while it is young The tree is known by its fruit = One is judged by what one does, not by what one says A word to the wise Thieves quarrel and thefts are discovered Strict law is often great injustice What you don’t know can’t hurt you

Student Charter as per IQAC/NAAC/UGC ideology and expectations:

Every stakeholder of higher education has a role to play for quality enhancement and sustenance. The stakeholders such as the Government, management, teachers, students and the external quality assurance agencies—have an important role in ensuring quality of higher education. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) strives to play a catalytic role in synergising thestakeholders efforts.

Of all the stakeholders mentioned above, the students have a unique role to play in ensuring qualityof higher education institutions (HEIs). Firstly, the students should realize that they have the right forquality education and it is the responsibility of the HEIs to provide quality

32

educational experience to learners. Secondly, the students should equally be aware of their responsibilities which in turn will help the institutions to provide quality education. This means that the students should demand quality education and demonstrate their commitment to quality education by accepting their responsibilities. Otherwise the HEIs will have very little motivation for quality enhancement. An initiation has been made by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in this direction by developing a sample student charter for all higher education institutions. It is hoped that the charter will help educational institutions to articulate their obligations to learners in clear terms and can be used as a benchmark for institution’s accountability to learners. The NAAC advocates the public display of student charter in every institution as an act of promotion of student participation in Quality Assurance.

A) Institution’s responsibilities towards studentsThe institution shall communicate its goals and objectives systematically and clearly to all students offer programmes that are consistent with its goals and objectives offer a wide range of programmes with adequate academic flexibility obtain feedback from students on the initiation, review and redesign of programmes if andwhen necessary facilitate effective running of the teaching-learning programmes implement a well-conceived plan for monitoring student progress continuously ensure that the student assessment mechanism is reliable and valid provide clear information to students about admission and completion requirements for allprogrammes, the fee structure and refund policies, financial aid and student support services ensure sufficient and well-run support services to all students promote healthy practices

Introducing yourself [ model]

I am _________. I am from Ichapuram. At present, I am studying final year BSc in Govt. Degree College. I did my schooling in our hometown Ichapuram and continued my college education in the government junior college. Ours is a middle class family. My father is a business man. My mother is a housewife. I have one sister, but no brothers. I am the elder son to my parents. My sister is studying 10th class in the govt. high school. Since I am the elder son, my parents have pinned a lot of hopes on me. After completing my degree, I would like to continue my studies besides preparing for competitive examinations. My friends and my teachers say that I am a good student.

My college is Govt. Degree college, Ichapuram. It was founded in 1983. It is located in a calm and peaceful area far from the disturbances of the town. Our teachers are very helpful and encouraging. They give career guidance and support to the students. They are very punctual to the college and classes. They never deviate from their duties and job chart. Examinations, assignments, seminars, field trips and student projects are some of the activities frequently conducted in our college. We all actively take part in these activities. We try our best to develop our knowledge and skills for bright career. We have a JKC centre in our college. It offers practical guidance in career development and extremely useful coaching in communicative skills in English. The students are trained in group discussions and interview skills also. My college life is hectic. Our students never dawdle the time away. Classes are conducted very regularly as per the time table without any deviation. We are serious about our studies. At the same time we have great fun during leisure hours. We play cricket and volley ball in the evenings. We regularly watch mana tv programmes. We take part in NSS activities also. Thus our college life is never boring. Of course, our college is poor in infrastructure facilities. We have very insufficient laboratory facilities. We have no seminar hall and e classrooms. E-resources are hardly available. Still I feel that we are academically strong. We make the best use of the available resources.

Our teachers follow student-centred teaching techniques. We actively participate in the classroom activities. We take part in the academic discussions. Our lecturers conduct classroom seminars. We present our view on certain topics of our interest. We also do project work in each subject. We select a topic of our interest, make a study of the problem, come out with our own findings and submit a report with conclusions.

About me : I am aged 20. Now I am studying final year degree. I was always successful in past years as a student. I have showed good academic performance in all the crucial examinations at school and college level. My parents, teachers and friends are very affectionate and cooperative. I have never faced any problems so far in my educational career. Hence my life has been very happy so far and I hope it will be happier in future also. I am hard-working and duty-minded. I will render my unstinted services wherever I work. I will work for the development of my organization. I will try my best to professionally enrich myself. I am young and energetic. I am not lazy. I am not selfish. I will try my best to improve my career. I will follow the advice and guidance of my superiors, elderly people and well wishers. I will work hard for my professional growth. I can convince people and motivate them. I feel I am a good communicator and have no inhibitions.

48

My family- parents, brothers and sisters : Our family is a small family. We are only 4 in our family, namely our parents, my sister and myself. Ours is a happy family. We never quarrel with one another. My parents have great care and concern for us. My father is a government servant. His yearly income is ____. I am doing my graduation and my sister is still a 10 th class student studying in the government high school in our town. I have only one sister but no brothers. I like her very much. We have mutual care and affection. I guide my sister in her studies. Sometimes she is angry with me. Then I will pacify her. My mother never intervenes in my studies. She cooks very well and serves the dishes that we like most. My father takes every care of my education. He guides me in English and offers career tips. My parents provide us good food, good clothes and everything we need. I shall be forever indebted to them.

My friends : I have some friends, but not many. We are all like-minded people. We share our ideas and feelings with one another. We work together and play together. We have mutual love and affection for one another. We discuss with one another many issues and problems, both personal and academic. I consult my friends before taking any crucial decisions. Friends are naturally our well-wishers. Their advice is very valuable. But sometimes friends, out of jealousy and envy, misguide us. But my friends are not of that sort. They are very good and helpful. They really like me very much and seek my welfare. A friend in need is a friend indeed. This is true of my life. They have helped me a lot in times of need and distress. I am forever grateful to them. I am also ready to help them whenever they need my help. Friends are real sources of entertainment.

My school education: I did my primary education and secondary education in the government high school in our town. I did my schooling up to 10 th class there. My teachers used to teach me well. They always clarified my doubts in all subjects. I worked hard in my 10 th class to get the highest grade. I got 93% of marks in SSC examinations. I had pleasant school days. I never forget those days in my life. My teachers were very encouraging and cooperative. I was very regular and punctual to school. I never avoided school. I used to work hard and play with my friends. We had freedom at school. I studied at my own pace without any external pressures. We used to have healthy competition for securing good marks and showing good performance. I always like my school friends and I always remember my school days. My aim in life is to become a manager of a good organization. I want to secure a comfortable position in managerial cadre in either public or private sector. I like to work hard. By working hard with dedication, I will try my best to strengthen the organization. I will motivate the people working under my control. I will boldly face the challenges and use all my energies and intellectual powers for the progress of the company or organization where I am going to work. I also like to be a public servant. I will appear for competitive examinations like Group I and II to secure a government job. However, it is difficult to fix a specific aim these days. Most people have some different aims and ambitions of equal significance in their lives. My intention is to serve the maximum wherever I work or whatever field of activity it may be.

Ichapuram is a municipality in Srikakulam district, with a population of about 45 thousand. It is located in Andhra-Odisha border. So it has bilingual influence of Telugu and Oriya. Literacy rate is more than 70%. There are many schools, both government and private, and Colleges. There is a Govt. Degree College also, where I am studying. Many people here are self-employed. They depend on farm sector, business, and small scale industries. People are dynamic, hard-working, amiable and good-natured. People of Ichapuram are active, talented, friendly, helpful and kind-hearted. They respect others and respond positively.

Your hobbies, habits, likes and dislikesNow I want to say a few words about my hobbies and habits. I get up early in the morning. I get up at around 5.30 am. I take exercise. Education is the most important factor of one’s life. Teachers are the real sources of one’s education. They want to see their students in high positions. They feel that that is their credit.
