BEGINNER PUPPY COMPETITION Sunday, April 17 Judge: Mrs. Lois Sanford The Four-to-Six Month Puppy competition is for dogs that are four months of age and over but under six months on the day of the event. Professional handlers are not permitted to exhibit in this class. Class will not be divided by sex in this competition. Puppies bandaged, taped, glued or stitched any-where including ears or tail will not be judged. The Certificate of Merit requires 15 points awarded in accordance with the following points structure based on ther number of dogs competing: • 2 = 1 • 4 = 2 • 8 = 3 • 12 = 4 • 16 = 5

PUPPY SWEEPSTAKESThe Sweepstakes is open to all purebred Boston Terriers who are six (6) months and under 18 months of age on the day of the show. Dogs with completed championships are not eligible. Professional handlers are permitted to show in sweepstakes. All dogs entered in Sweepstakes must also be entered in a Regular Class at the regular entry fee. Indicate Sweepstakes with the age division in the space provided for ‘Additional Classes’. (Entry fee $15)

2016 Junior Showmanship Classes JUDGES: SATURDAY PM - Alice Watkins SUNDAY - Lois Sanford

NOVICE CLASS: For Boys and Girls who are at least 9 years and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three (3) First Place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. OPEN CLASS: For Boys and Girls who are at least 9 years and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have won three (3) First Place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. Juniors which according to their records have completed the requirements to compete in the Open Class but whose status is unconfirmed by the American Kennel Club are limited to competing in the Open Class for a period of 90 days fromn the date of the show where tie Junior completed the requirements according to their records. MASTER CLASS. This class will be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years on the day of the show, and who have won the 10 first place wins in an Open class with competition to be eligible to enter the Limited Class Competition. The calendar for this class will be November 1 - October 31 of the following year. All Juniors meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the Master Class and may change their entry the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the eligibility time frame for that year has passed all participants return to the Open Class to compete for the following year.

• A dog other than the one entered may be substituted. Such substitution must be accompanied by an official AKC entry form. The junior must have the AKC number of the substitute dog. All such substitutions must be made with the Show Secretary at least one-half hour prior to the judging of any Junior Showmanship Classes at the show. • At a Specialty Show, each dog in Junior Showmanship must be of the breed for which the show is held. • BITCHES IN SEASON ARE NOT ELIGIBLE. • AKC Junior Handler Numbers are required for entry in Junior Showmanship Competition. Numbers may be obtained from the American Kennel Club (919) 816-3776.• According to AKC rules, there must be competition in order for Best Junior Handler to be awarded.

(Entry fee $20 as a first entry, $12 as a second entry of the same dog.)

REGULAR CLASSES (Classes for Dogs and Bitches)Entry fee $30, except Puppy Classes and BBE as a first entry, $20

NOTE: Bred By Exhibitor (BBE) Class Eligibility (AKC Rules Applying to Dog Shows. Chapter 3. Sect. 8.) Entry Fee $20 1. Dogs entered in Bred by Exhibitor Class must be individually registered with AKC, as of the date of the show. 2. Not champions of record on the closing date of entries for the show. 3. The person handling the dog must be both a breeder of record and an owner of record of the dog 4. To exhibit in this class, family members must be a breeder and owner of record. 5. In subsequent classes for which the BBE dog may become eligible, there are no restrictions as to who may handle. NOTE: Amateur-Owner-Handler Class Eligibility (Effective 1-1-09) Entry Fee $30 The Amateur-Owner-Handler Class shall be for dogs that are at least six months of age that are not champions. Dogs must be handled in the class by the registered owner of the dog. This class is restricted to exhibitors who have not, at any point in time, been a professional dog handler, AKC approved conformation judge, or employed as an assistant to a professional handler. Additionally, members of the immediate family or household of a current professional handler are ineligible for this class (as defined in Chapter 11, Section 13.)

NON-REGULAR CLASSES - SINGLE DOG ENTRIES for dogs & bitches (Entry fee $15)Veteran Classes - • Veteran, 7 years & under 10 years old • Veteran, 10 years & older

Winners of these classes will be eligible for Best of Breed competition. NOTE: AKC Rules Applying to Dog Shows. Chapter 11. Sect. 8. Neutered dogs and spayed bitches are allowed to compete in Veterans Classes only at independent specialties and/or those all-breed shows which do not offer any competitive classes beyond Best of Breed. This is an independent specialty.

NON-REGULAR CLASSES - MULTIPLE DOG ENTRIES (Classes for Dogs and Bitches) Stud Dog Class - For Stud Dogs and a minimum of two (2) or more of their Get, up to a maximum of four (4). It is not necessary that the Get be under the same ownership as that of the Stud Dog. The Stud Dog must be entered in the Stud Dog class and shown in the ring with his Get. The Stud Dog may be entered separately in one of the Regular or Non-Regular classes at the regular entry fee, with ‘Stud Dog’ class indicated on the entry form in the space for additional classes at an additional $15. Or, the Stud Dog may be entered in Stud Dog class ONLY for a $20 entry fee. The Get MUST be entered in one of the Regular Classes, but there is no additional entry fee for them as participants with their sire in this non-regular class. The merits of the Stud Dog are not considered in the placement of the entry. The Get only will be judged, on the merits of the Get. Therefore, the winners of these classes are not eligible to compete for Best of Breed or for Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed. All get must be examined and gaited. While the merits of the Stud Dog are not to be considered in the placement of the entry, the Stud Dog must be examined to determine if it has a condition that would require its disqualification or being excused under the Dog Show Rules, AKC policy or the standard for the Breed.

Brood Bitch Class - Same as Stud Dog Class except substitute Brood Bitch for Stud Dog, Produce for Get. NOTE: AKC Rules Applying to Dog Shows. Chapter 11. Sect. 8. A castrated male may be entered as Stud Dog in the Stud Dog Class and a spayed bitch may be entered as Brood Bitch in the Brood Bitch Class.

Brace Class - Effective January 1, 2005. A brace is defined by AKC as two (2) dogs of the same recognized breed or variety that are similar in appearance, performing in unison, and presented by a maximum of two handlers. Both dogs competing in brace competition must have at least one common owner. The dogs comprising the Brace must be named at the time of the entry. Entry fee is $15 for the pair. Specify ‘Brace Only’ on the entry form. If a dog that is to be part of a Brace is entered in another class, specify ‘Brace’ in the ‘Additional Class’ section on the entry form. If one or both are also entered in a regular class, the Brace entry fee is still $15 for the pair. Please cross-reference dog names or registered numbers on both entries of the dogs in the same Brace.

Team Class - This class shall be four (4) dogs (a Unit), irrespective of sex, belonging to at least one common owner and presented by a mazimum of four (4) handlers. • The Club and its officials are not responsible for the actions or products of commercial vendors at this show.• A $3.00 AKC Event Service Fee and a $.50 Recording Fee will be required for each dog entered at any Licensed or Member club show. These are included in the Entry Fees. Event Service and Recording fees are to be collected by the Show-giving club and paid to the American Kennel Club. If a dog is entered in more than one class in the show. Fees are to be collected on each entry, except sweepstakes, junior showmanship and multiple dog non-regular classes (American Kennel Club rule, Chapter 11, Section 2.)• No entry shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which specifies any conditions as to its acceptance.• Entry Fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of the event’s Show Committee. If because of riots, wars, strikes, civil disturbances, national emergencies, health emergencies, and the dictates of law enforcement or of the owner(s) of the grounds and/or facilities or other acts beyond the control of the management it is impossible to open or to complete the show, no refund of entry fee will be made. Extreme weather conditions, such as, but not limited to snow storms, hurricanes, lightning, extreme heat, heavy rains, or other circumstances including but not limited to, the condition of the facilities or grounds and/or the ingress and egress from the grounds, must be considered for the health and safety of the dogs, exhibitors and spectators. The well-being of dogs, exhibitors and spectators is of paramount importance and, in the event it is necessary to cancel or stop the show before completion, no refund of entry will be made.• Post-dated Checks and Returned Checks do not constitute a valid entry fee. The Show Secretary will add a collec-tion fee to the amount of each returned check or declined debit or credit card.• No refund for duplicate entries. Every effort will be made to find duplicate entries, however, if an entry has been processed, no refund will be made.• An Administrative Fee of $4.00 will be withheld from all refunds for entries cancelled prior to closing. Due to the cost of processing, no refunds under $5.00 will be made.• Errors on Entry Blanks.
