During hard braking and on slippery roads, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) helps prevent wheel lock and maintains steering control. EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution) evenly distributes braking force to all the wheels, regardless of passenger number, luggage load or road conditions. BA (Brake Assist System) monitors normal driving patterns and is able to distinguish normal braking and a panicked stop – when it loads the brakes with hydraulic pressure in milliseconds, delivering more stopping power sooner.

ASC helps you maintain traction on the most slippery or rugged of surfaces. This intelligent system automatically controls the engine output, preventing the wheels from spinning. By sensing a loss of traction in an independent wheel, it applies braking force to that wheel and sends extra power and torque to the other wheels with traction to keep you moving.

Designed for enhanced performance, MIVEC switches between higher and lower cam profiles as engine speed increases or decreases. This ensures the highest fuel efficiency under general operating conditions; while under high-load at low speeds it ensures optimal torque delivery.

Outlander’s compact 2.4-litre 16-valve DOHC MIVEC engine alters the intake valve timing to optimise engine output across a wider rpm range, producing high torque at low rpm and satisfying top-end power for highway cruising confidence.

MULTI-SELECT 4WD

Normally driving is performed using 2WD, which allocates torque to the front wheels. The car quickly detects when road conditions are slippery and contributes to stable driving by implementing 4WD which allocates torque to the rear wheels.

4WD ECO：FUEL-EFFICIENT MODE

4WD capability for varied road conditions, perfect for dry asphalt roads, wet roads and muddy roads.

4WD AUTO：NORMAL MODE

This mode provides the rough ground covering ability of 4-wheel drive. This mode is excellent for driving on bad roads and escaping when the vehicle is stuck. Even on normal roads, this mode achieves the powerful driving of 4-wheel drive from low speeds to high speeds.

4WD LOCK MODE

Three driving modes are available to balance fuel economy and driving performance:

The Outlander’s electric tailgate automatically opens and closes with a touch of a button - there’s no need for you to put down that golf bag or shopping. The tailgate can also be opened from the driver’s seat by using a switch, so you won’t have to exit the vehicle.

The Rear View Camera supplements the driver’s rear field of view by automatically appearing on screen when reverse gear is engaged. This is especially helpful when reversing into tight and dark parking spaces.
