1. Revisión y actualización de los alcances y objetivos de la Meta # 5 del Programa Ambiental México – Estados Unidos: Frontera 2012

2. Revisión y actualización del “Plan Conjunto de Contingencias México-Estados Unidos para la Preparación y Respuesta a Emergencias Ambientales causadas por Fugas, Derrames, Incendios o Explosiones de Substancias Peligrosas en laFranja Fronteriza Terrestre”. Firmado el 5 de septiembre de 2008 .

3. Incorporación de la Coordinación General de Protección Civil de la Secretaria de Gobernación a la Co-Presidencia del Plan Conjunto de Contingencias y Emergencias México-Estados Unidos, a través de la Dirección General de Protección Civil.

4. Incremento del número de pares de Ciudades Hermanas, de 14 a 15, incorporándose las Ciudades Hermas de Río Bravo, Tam., Méx – Weslaco, Tx., USA.

5. Realización de exitosas reuniones anuales (2) del grupo de trabajo México – Estados Unidos.

6. Realización de ejercicios binacionales de simulacros de emergencias químicas mayores en las ciudades Hermanas Fronterizas.

Objetivo # 5:Reducir la exposición a sustancias químicas como resultado de descargas accidentales y/o actos de terrorismo.

Highlights of Goal 5 Workgroup 2011 NCM Session

• Identify best approaches to communicate our initiatives and events by developing an annual work-plan

– Post current events and initiatives on Goal 5 OITA hosted website

• Revisit the bi-national incident notification system to identify areas of improvement before conducting future exercises

– Utilize e-mails and web posting for bi-national notifications

• Finalize the proposal of a charter to include the roles and responsibilities of the workgroup as an evaluating and assessment committee • Goal 5 Workgroup accepted the recommended new sub-

objectives with the exception of sub-objective 3a:– To reflect the need to research existing agreements (including sister city plans)

that allow trans-boundary movement of equipment and personnel for benchmarking purposes
