RED CARPET OPENING NIGHTFriday, February 24, 4PM - Dishman Art MuseumOpening ceremonies for the fes val begin 4 PM Friday, February 24th, at the Dishman Museum on the Lamar University Campus with a ribbon cu ng ceremony and proclama on to be read by Mayor Becky Ames. A endees are encouraged to dress in red carpet a re, as there will be photographers, members of the press, and an opening recep on with representa on from many of the films scheduled to screen that evening.

FILM AWARDS CEREMONYSaturday, February 25, 5PM -Dishman Art MuseumWe will be handing out awards for first through third place for each of the film categories: Feature, short, documentary, experimental, and student. There will also be a Best in Show award as well.

48 HOUR VIDEO RACE SCREENING & AWARDSSaturday, February 25, 5:30PM - Dishman Art MuseumFollowing the fes val award ceremony will be the screening of the 48 Hour Film Race entries. Awards will also be given for first through third place shortly a er.

FESTIVAL WRAP-UP PARTYSaturday, February 25, 10PM – Ten LoungeThe fes val ends with a wrap party at Ten Lounge on Crocke Street. Come mingle with fes val volunteers, sponsors, bands, and filmmakers. Music performed by the band UltraSuede.

The band was originally started by Elliot Frazier in his hometown, Beau-mont, but soon he moved to the musically ac ve town of Aus n. The band's debut EP, Ringo Deathstarr, was released on SVC Records in 2007, and on Fan Death Records in 2009. They recently finished up a s nt opening for the Smashing Pumpkins in Europe.

UltraSuede is based out of Beau-mont, Texas. They have been tearing up the Golden Triangle for the last year and have now hooked up with the Jen Flynn booking agency out of Houston and are ready , willing and able to bring their unique blend.

What is the price society pays when it treats ex-cons as nothing? Working for 19 years in the Santa Fe Correc onal facility, Ronnie forms a lifelong friendship with heroin addict Mike, who, now out of prison, resides in the same government housing project in Ojo Caliente, New Mexico. Despite the best of inten ons, Mike shows us why his life on the outside keeps him returning to prison.

What if a group of high school stoners grew up and became the faculty at their own high school? This irreverent comedy finally answers that age-old ques on. Fueled by the threat of a city-wide crackdown on marijuana, the story follows the adventures of the blazed staff of Aus n High and a collec on of colorful charac-ters around Aus n. Writer/Actor Mike Wilson will be in a endance.

Shot in Corsicana, Texas, this is a dark comedy about Raleigh Elm, a small- me photojournalist. A er a family crisis sends his world into a tailspin, Raleigh a empts to find relief from his grief by volunteering at a suicide preven on call center. He soon discovers that hot lines are anonymous for a reason. Sco Honea and Beaumont na ve actor Chuck Houston will be in a endance.

Lonely and disturbed, Jacob Kell loves his li le sister more than anything on Earth. When she is tragically murdered by their stepfather, Jacob retaliates the only way he knows how … and all those who cross his path will know his brutal vengeance. Produced in Houston, Michael Biehn (The Terminator, Aliens, Tombstone) is featured in this indie horror tale.

In 2007, three file boxes containing roughly 30,000 nega ves are discov-ered at the Rose Bowl Flea Market in Pasadena, CA. In the boxes are surfing's history from 1972-1993. This chronicles finding the people, photog-raphers, and beau ful stories if not TOLD would be LOST.

This rockumentary looks at historic Texas guitarist John Nitzinger a er 40 years of making music, having collaborated with legends such as Alice Cooper and Carl Palmer.

An invita on to record with The Legendary Stardust Cowboy prompts Country Willie Edwards and his band to launch their first West Coast tour. Having never broken the gravita onal pull of Nacogdoches, Texas, the band invites three unique individuals with dreams of striking it rich in California to make the trip. This is the story of six men, two roosters, and one bus on a perilous journey to the other side of a dream.

A teenager finds himself at the center of a mysterious adventure in this ambi ous homemade high school feature film project that mixes mar al arts and fantasy elements.

All panels will be moderated by Alfred Cervantes, Deputy Director of the Houston Film Commission and a na ve Houstonian. He has worked in various capaci es in film for the past 20 years. As a freelancer he worked on Reality Bites, The Chase, Jason’s Lyric, Apollo 13, and Powder. His duty with the film commission is to promote the greater Houston area to film producers, produc on execu ves and independent filmmakers, to scout loca ons and facilitate any produc on’s local filming experience. Some of the projects he has assisted or scouted for are Head Hunter, Puncture, and The Tree Of Life.
