New book on Gandhi to be unveiled on 1 Jan

A new book on Mahatma Gandhi is scheduled to be launched on January 1, 2021, by RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat.

The book ―Making of a Hindu Patriot: Background of Gandhiji‘s Hind Swaraj‖ is authored by J K Bajaj and M D Srinivas.

It is an authentic edition of ―Hind Swaraj‖ based on Gandhi‘s handwritten manuscript of 1909 in Gujarati and his English translation of the text published in 1910.

Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay-NIF book prize

Jairam Ramesh and Amit Ahuja were jointly awarded the Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay-New India Foundation (NIF) Book Prize for 2020 out of a shortlist of six writers.

The 2020 winners will share the prize money of ₹15 lakhs for their respective books and will each receive the trophy.

The award was established in 2018, the first winner of the prize was the political scientist Milan Vaishnav

PM Modi releases book on Atal Bihari Vajpayee

PM Narendra Modi released a book ‗Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Parliament: A Commemorative Volume‘ to mark the 96th birth anniversary of the former prime minister.

The book was released at a function in the Central Hall of Parliament.

The book, published by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, highlights the life and works of the former PM and contains his notable speeches delivered in Parliament.

Justice Rajindar Sachar's autobiography

Late Justice Rajindar Sachar‘s autobiography ―In Pursuit of Justice: An Autobiography‖ was launched posthumously on 22 December 2020.

It was launched by The Indian Society of International Law and The Indian Law Institute in a virtual event.

He is most remembered for the Sachar Committee report of 2006 which documented the social and economic condition of Muslims in India.

Devendra Fadnavis releases book 'Ayodhya'

Former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis released the book 'Ayodhya' on 22 December 2020 in Mumbai.

It has been written by BJP's State Vice President Madhav Bhandari.

The book contains a study of all the events in history, all the historical evidence and the evidence of different researchers.

There is no political commentary in it.

Kailash Satyarthi's new book

Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi's new book titled ‗COVID-19: Sabhyata ka Sankat Aur Samadhan‘ (COVID-19: Crisis of Civilisation and Solutions) has been launched.

The new book discusses how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the common way of life while suggesting solutions to the ongoing crisis triggered by the disease.

Amish announces second book

Best-selling author Amish has announced a new non-fiction book Dharma: Decoding the Epics for a Meaningful Life.

This would be his second in the genre after Immortal India, which was released in 2017.

The book has been co-authored by Amish‘s sister Bhavna Roy, and offers practical and philosophical lessons from our epics that are relevant in the modern world.

Vice President releases a book

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu has virtually released the book, ‘40 Years with Abdul Kalam- Untold Stories‘ authored by Dr Sivathanu Pillai.

The book provides a gripping first-hand account of Dr Kalam‘s life.

It has been published by Pentagon Press LLP and the foreword has been written by Pranab Mukherjee, former President of India.

A book released on the occasion of Gurupurab

Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri released a book titled 'Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Government's Special Relationship with Sikhs' on the occasion of Gurupurab.

The book, published by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, was released in English, Hindi and Punjabi languages.

The book is based on the messages of Guru Nanak Dev.

Book on life and ideals of Guru Nanak Dev

PM Narendra Modi has released a book on the life and ideals of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism and first of its ten gurus.

The book has been penned by Kirpal Singh, who is based in Chandigarh.

The book was released on 25 November 2020.

Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi was also present during the book release.

Tharoor‟s “The Battle of Belonging” launched

Shashi Tharoor‘s latest book ―The Battle of Belonging‖ was formally launched at the Prabha Khaitan Foundation‘s signature event Kitab.

This is Shashi Tharoor‘s 22nd book which delves into current social, political and cultural issues confronting India.

Kitab is a signature event of Prabha Khaitan Foundation of Kolkata conceptualised by Sundeep Bhutoria.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh unveils 2 books

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has unveiled two books ‗The Republican

Ethic Volume III‘ and ‗Loktantra Ke Swar'.

These are a collection of selected speeches of President Ram Nath Kovind during the third year of his presidency.

Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar unveiled the e-book versions of the two books.

The books comprise speeches on the country's efforts to fight COVID.

Chitra Banerjee's new book 'The Last Queen'

Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni's new book, 'The Last Queen' is a historical fiction on Rani Jindan Kaur.

Jindan Kaur was the daughter of the royal kennel keeper and went on to be Maharaja Ranjit Singh's last queen.

Her son Dalip inherited the throne at the young ago of 6 and she became the queen regent.

The book is being published by HarperCollins India and will be released on 22 January 2021.

„Boskiyana „ – A New Book on Gulzar

Boskiyana a new book in Hindi, brings out the personality of the veteran poet-lyricist, Gulzar, through detailed conversations and opens up readers to his thoughts and vision of the world.

The 228-page book, which navigates Gulzar's life through his films, poetry, philosophies, lifestyle, likes and dislikes, has been edited by Yashwant Vyas.

World's Youngest Author And Grand Master

The 7-year-old Abhijita Gupta has been recognized as the world's youngest author by the International Book of Records.

While the Asia Book of Records has conferred on her title of the 'Grandmaster in Writing.

Her book titled 'Happiness All Around' is an anthology of short stories and poems with illustrations acclaimed globally.

I Am No Messiah' To Release In Dec

Actor Sonu Sood who is been dubbed as the Messiah of the migrant for his relentless services towards the people and society is all set to pen his autobiography.

The actor‘s autobiography will be titled ‗I am no Messiah.‘ The book will be co-written by Meena Iyer.

The book is published by Penguin Random House India.

Maha Governor releases book 'Majhi Bhint'

Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari released the book 'Majhi Bhint' (My Wall) authored by former Maharashtra minister of education Rajendra Darda at Raj Bhavan.

The book is a compilation of Darda's selected Facebook posts pertaining to a range of issues written over the last four years.

Darda is the Editor-in-Chief of Lokmat Media.

A novel on transgenders

'Rasaathi: The Other Side of a Transgender', a novel by Sasindran Kallinkeel has been released.

The novel looks at the lives, customs, rituals and struggle of transgenders.

Sasindran was with the Central Reserve Police for 23 years and had a seven-year stint with the Special Protection Group (Prime Minister‘s Security).

The book has been released by BookMitra.

PRSI Dehradun Chapter announces launch of book

Minister of Education, Indian Government, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank', announced the launch of the book, 'Bharat Ki NavinRashtriya Shiksha Niti 2020: Navyug Ka Abhinandan', compiled by PRSI.

Nepal President unveils pictorial anthology

A pictorial anthology on Mahatma Gandhi in the Nepali language was released on 9 Nov 2020 by President Bidya Devi Bhandari to mark his 151st birth anniversary.

The book titled "Maile Bujheko Gandhi" or "the Gandhi as I understood," was released at Rashtrapati Bhawan in Kathmandu.

The book has been published by the Embassy of India along with the BP Koirala India-Nepal Foundation.

„Till We Win‟: Book on COVID-19

The book, titled ―Till We Win‖ will hit the stands in November 2020.

It has been co-written by leading public policy and health systems expert Chandrakant Lahariya and renowned vaccine researcher and virologist Gagandeep Kang.

It will give a definitive account of India‘s fight against COVID-19 and how to deal with the pandemic in the days to come.

NK Singh's new book

Veteran economist and bureaucrat N K Singh's autobiography 'Portraits of Power' has been released.

‗Portraits of Power‘ recalls Singh‘s various stints over the decades- starting from 1964 when he joined the IAS, serving at highest echelons of the government of India before taking a political plunge with a Rajya Sabha term.

He is currently the Chairman of the 15th Finance Commission.

Author Kairavi Bharat Ram‟s new book

Author Kairavi Bharat Ram has written a children‘s book about depression, especially among younger children.

Dr Balasaheb Vikhe Patil served as Member of Lok Sabha for multiple terms.

His autobiography is titled ‗Deh Vechwa

Karani‘ which means ‗dedicating one‘s life for a noble cause‘.

GBS Sidhu's new book to be released

A former intelligence officer with the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), GBS Sidhu has written a book.

The upcoming book 'The Khalistan Conspiracy', is a first-person account that brings out little-known facts about the Khalistan movement and the role of senior politicians of the time in creating and sustaining it.

The book published by HarperCollins will be released on October 24, 2020.

Dr Jitendra Singh releases Coffee Table Book

Minister for Development of North Eastern Region, Dr Jitendra Singh has released a Coffee Table Book on Discovering the Heritage of Assam.

The foreword is by Amitabh Bachchan and the book has been published by Penguin.

―A bouquet of flowers‖, the ninth book authored by the senior English Professor, was launched at the New Delhi residence of Singh, who is the Lok Sabha MP from Lucknow.

Chef Vikas Khanna's new book

Michelin Star chef Vikas Khanna will write about his Feed India initiative, one of the world's largest food drives serving meals to the underprivileged amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, in his upcoming book.

This was announced by publishing house Penguin Random House India.

The book, Kitchens of Gratitude, will be released in 2021.

'Feed India' was launched in March 2020.

Author Arundhati Roy has come up with her new book titled ―Azadi: Freedom. Fascism. Fiction‖.

Gauri Khan will make her debut as an author with a book about her journey as a designer.

New book on Mohammad Ali Jinnah launched

A new book on the life and times of Pakistan's founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah has been launched.

The book, "Jinnah: His Successes, Failures and Role in History", is written by Swedish political scientist and a noted author of Pakistani descent Ishtiaq Ahmed.

Born on December 25th, 1876, Jinnah served as leader of the All-India Muslim League from 1913 until Pakistan's creation on Aug 14, 1947.

S Jaishankar releases a book

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar released a book titled "The India Way: Strategies for an Uncertain World".

The book is published by HarperCollins India.

The book was developed in the course of the last two years, which covers a series of events and lectures given at think tanks, conferences or business forums.

2 books on Ma Anand Sheela to be released

In a couple of months, two books on Sheela Birnstiel, popularly known as Ma Anand Sheela, are set to be published.

One of the books is an authorised biography, 'Nothing To Lose' by Manbeena Sandhu which will acquaint readers with the woman behind the strong persona.

Pope Francis is coming up with his new book titled, "Let Us Dream‖.

It will hit the stands on December 1, 2020, in English and Spanish editions simultaneously.

In the book, Pope Francis explains how a crisis can teach one to deal with the problems that they may face in their lives, by looking at three major crises in his personal life.

It will be published by Simon & Schuster.

Karan Johar is set to launch his new book titled The Big Thoughts Of Little Luv.

It is a picture book for kids, which is inspired by his experiences as a single parent.

Army Chief General MM Naravane has released a book titled "National Security Challenges: Young Scholars' Perspective" written by university students.

The book published by CLAWS (Centre for Land Warfare Studies) was released on August 17, 2020.

It is a tribute to Field Marshal Manekshaw, the great grand strategist of 1971 Indo-Pakistan War that liberated Bangladesh.

Marieke Lucas wins International Booker

Dutch author Marieke Lucas Rijneveld has won the 2020 International Booker prize for debut novel 'The Discomfort of Evening', a story of childhood grief.

She is the youngest author to win the prestigious prize.

Rijneveld shares the prize of 50,000 pounds, about $66,000, with Michele Hutchison, who translated it from Dutch.

Rijneveld‘s book was a bestseller in the Netherlands in 2018.

Chetan Bhagat's new book

Author Chetan Bhagat has announced his upcoming book, One Arranged Murder, and has released its cinematic trailer.

Published by Westland Publications, it is slated to release on September 28, 2020.

The plot revolves around a man coming home to his wife on Karvachauth only to not find her anywhere.

One Arranged Murder‘s promo video is a movie-style promo for a book.

Ex-Vice Marshal Subramaniam pens a book

Retired Air Vice Marshal Arjun Subramaniam will come out with a comprehensive account of war and conflict in contemporary India over the past five decades in Sept 2020.

"Full Spectrum: India''s Wars, 1972-2020" is a sequel to his book "India''s Wars: A Military History, 1947-1971".

He has covered every major operation that the armed forces have participated in, including the Kargil conflict.

Books penned by Mizoram governor

Mizoram CM Zoramthanga has released ''Corona Kavithakal'', a collection of poems, written by Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai during the lockdown.

The governor has recently penned at least 13 books in English and Malayalam.

Two more books, ''Republic Day 2020'' and ''Thus Speaks the Governor'', written by Pillai, were also released by Gauhati High Court Chief Justice Ajai Lamba.

Union Defence Minister released a book

A book chronicling the third year in office of the Vice President of India, M. Venkaiah Naidu was released by the Union Minister of Defence, Rajnath Singh on August 11, 2020.

The book is titled 'Connecting, Communicating, Changing'.

The electronic version of the book (e-book) was launched by the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar.

„Swachh Bharat Kranti‟ book launched

The book 'The Swachh Bharat Revolution', edited by Parameswaran Iyer, has been translated into Hindi and published as the 'Swachh Bharat Kranti'.

The book was officially launched by Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Union Minister of Textiles and Women & Child Development Smriti Irani in New Delhi.

Nitish Kumar releases a book

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has released a book - a compilation of articles, views and life journey - of Bihar Assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Choudhary.

The book is titled "Siyasat Mein Sadasyata".

Former deputy governor of RBI Viral V Acharya has come up with his new book ―Quest for Restoring Financial Stability in India‖.

It is published by SAGE Publications.

In his book, Acharya argues that several policies ―regressed‖ the economic environment while he was deputy governor between early January 2017 and mid-July 2019.

Arunachal Pradesh CM released a book

Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu has released a book titled Tangams: An Ethnolinguistic Study Of The Critically Endangered Group of Arunachal Pradesh.

The Tangams are a little-known community within the larger Adi tribe of Arunachal Pradesh and reside in the hamlet of Kugging in Upper Siang district‘s Paindem circle.

There are only 253 speakers of Tangam left.

Hussain Zaidi penned new novel 'The Endgame'

Crime writer S Hussain Zaidi has come out with a new novel "The Endgame" which talks of politics, betrayal and unimaginable terror.

Zaidi has also authored "Black Friday", "Mafia Queens of Mumbai", "Dongri to Dubai" and "Byculla to Bangkok".

He was the associate producer of an HBO documentary, "Terror in Mumbai", based on the 26/11 terror attacks.

Stephen King‟s new book

Stephen King is back with his new book titled, If It Bleeds.

Published by Hachette India, the story centres around a bomb at Albert Macready Middle School.

It is a sequel to his bestselling work, The Outsider, which featured Holly Gibney of the Finders Keepers detective agency on her first solo case.

It has already been published in the USA.

A new book on the Dalai Lama will be released in October 2020.

It features over 400 never-before-seen photographs and documents from the life and times of him.

Fourteenth Dalai Lama: An Illustrated Biography", in making for nearly five years, has been written by one of the Dalai Lama's closest aides and advisor of over 40 years — Tenzin Geyche Tethong.

Mahaveer: Book on 1962 Indo-China War

A novel that tells the tale of the Indo-Chinese battle of Nuranang in 1962 has been authored by award winning A.K. Srikumar.

The book, titled ‗Mahaveer: The Soldier who never died‘ is a patriotic story of indomitable courage and selfless love of the legendary Garhwali soldier, Jaswant Singh Rawat.

Former RBI governor Urjit Patel wrote a book

Former RBI Governor Urjit Patel will be releasing a book later in July 2020.

Titled 'Overdraft: Saving the Indian Saver', the book focuses on the non-performing assets (NPAs) issue that has afflicted Indian banking in recent years, its causes and Patel's efforts as the RBI Governor in dealing with it.

Patel resigned from RBI in 2018.

Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu virtually released a book on ―Future of Higher Education – Nine Mega Trends‖.

Authored by CA V Pattabhi Ram, it is based on a survey of around 5000 educators across India, who were part of ICT Academy‘s ―SkyCampus‖ Digital Knowledge Series.

The book was brought out by ICT Academy, an initiative of the Government of India and the state governments.

Kazuo Ishiguro's new novel to be out in Mar'21

Nobel Prize-winning author Kazuo Ishiguro will come out with his new novel Klara and the Sun in March 2021.

This is the first novel by Ishiguro since he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature and will be published by Faber & Faber in the UK, Alfred A Knopf in the US and Knopf in Canada on 2 Mar 2021.

His 8 previous works of fiction have earned

“A Burning” novel released

The Penguin Hamish Hamilton has released the ―A Burning‖, a debut novel of Megha Majumdar.

The book is about the lives of three characters, Tommy Orange, Yaa Gyasi and Jhumpa Lahiri who want to rise to the middle class, to political power, to gain fame in the film industry and how their lives changed in Indian society.

The book was published by Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group.

HRD Minister launched an information booklet

HRD Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has launched the information booklet titled 'Safe online learning in the times of COVID-19'.

It will raise awareness among students and teachers.

NCERT and UNESCO have jointly developed this booklet which will facilitate in raising awareness of students and teachers as well as ensure timely action in cases of cyberbullying.

The Modi government has released an e-booklet highlighting its key achievements during the second term.

The 92-page booklet 'One Year of Modi 2.0 - Towards A Self-Reliant India' has been brought out by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

The booklet has a separate section for the actions taken to fight the Covid-19 pandemic and deal with the economic fallout of the crisis.

Behind the Mask: A book on COVID-19

Mohammed Abdul Mannan‘s has authored a book titled Behind the Mask.

The book details the origin and spread of the coronavirus and how it has made the world sick, panicky and topsy-turvy.

"Harry Potter" author JK Rowling has announced a new story called "The Ickabog" to entertain children during coronavirus lockdown.

The new story will be serialized, with a chapter or more posted on "The Ickabog" website every weekday from Tuesday to July 10, 2020.

She has also invited children to provide illustrations for the story, to keep them occupied during coronavirus lockdown.

Ruskin Bond‟s new book released

On Ruskin Bond's 86th birthday, Speaking Tiger has brought out his new e-book which is about his adventures on boats, trains and planes.

An eyewitness account of the events pertaining to coronavirus outbreak that unfolded in Wuhan is now available as an ebook in India.

The book called ‗Wuhan Diary: Dispatches from a Quarantined City‘ is reportedly a compilation of online diary entries and social media posts by Chinese Literary writer Fang Fang.

It is a documentation based on the 60 days of lockdown during COVID-19 epidemic.

Captain Vijyant Thapar was only 22 when he was martyred in the Kargil war in 1999.

Now two decades after his demise comes his first-ever biography giving a rare insight of one of India's bravest soldiers.

The e-book, which will be released on May 15, 2020 is titled as Vijyant at Kargil: The Life of a Kargil Hero.

A Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter for The Washington Post has written an unauthorized biography of first lady Melania Trump.

Mary Jordan‘s ―The Art of Her Deal,‖ will come out on 16 June 2020.

Jordan began working on the book in 2015, well before Donald Trump‘s surprise victory in the presidential election.

A book on the life of bureaucrat-turned-politician Manohar Parrikar, who served as the defence minister and Goa chief minister, will hit the stands in April 2020.

This was announced by publishing house Penguin Random House India on 16 March 2020.

India-born author Jasbinder Bilan has bagged a coveted UK children's book award for her debut novel 'Asha and the Spirit Bird'.

Bilan will receive 5,000 pounds as the winner of the award.

Bilan's book was shortlisted from 144 entries alongside 'Crossfire' by Malorie Blackman, 'In the Shadow of Heroes' by Nicholas Bowling and 'Furious Thing' by Jenny Downham.
