This nationally endorsed qualification provides licenced electricians with the training, skills and knowledge required to install, set-up, test, fault find and repair photovoltaic systems in domestic and commercial premises. It contains Units of Competency endorsed by the Clean Energy Council and information regarding the use and application of interval metering. The qualification includes the ERAC requirements for an Electrician’s Licence.

COURSE DURATIONApplicants currently working in the electrotechnology industry will typically complete the face-to-face practical and knowledge based assessment requirements of the specialisation photovoltaic core units’ full time over 6 days.

COURSE REQUIREMENTSApplicants must hold a current WA Unrestricted Electrician’s Licence or equivalent issued in an Australian State or Territory.

All core units of competency must be achieved; and a combination of elective units of competency to a total weighting 180 points.

Fully enclosed shoes must be worn at all times in CET buildings. Safety boots/shoes must be worn when working in the workshop. Refer to the Code of Conduct on the College website www.cet.asn.au for details on dress code.

• Grid-Connected PV Systems Design and Installation, by G. Stapleton, S. Garrett, S. Neill and B. McLean;

• Electrical Trade Principles, 3rd Edition, by J. Hampson and S. Hanssen;

• Electrotechnology Practice, 3rd Edition, by J. Hampson and S. Hanssen;

• Western Australian Distribution Connections Manual (latest version);

• AS/NZS 3000 (latest version); • Programmable Logic Controllers, 4th Edition, Frank D.

Petruzella;• Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines (latest version).

CERTIFICATIONGraduates will be issued with the UEE42011 Certificate IV in Electrical-Photovoltaic Systems. A Statement of Attainment will be issued for each Unit of Competency completed.

SKILLS AND NATIONAL RECOGNITION The CET Skills Recognition process benefits applicants who have undergone prior learning and recognises competencies obtained outside a formal educational or training environment, gained through life or work experience. Competencies currently held by applicants will be formally assessed against each applicable Unit of Competency and maybe recognised regardless of how, when and where they were achieved. Skills Recognition is an assessment process and a cost recovery charge will apply.

CET accepts and provides credit to learners for units of competency and/or modules (unless licensing or regulatory requirements prevent this) where these are evidenced by either AQF certification documentation issued by any other RTO or AQF authorised issuing organisation or an authenticated VET transcript issued by the Registrar.
