BOOK Of Intentions

The Catholic Catechism reminds us, “that interceding for others shows a heart attuned to God's mercy and that we participate in Christ's intercession by praying for the interests of others”.

Praying for each other is an important part of our parish life at St. Stephen’s. To assist us in our role as intercessors a Book of Intentions will be located at the entrance of the Church near the Confessional. You are invited to write your request, after mass today, for those you would like to lift up in prayer. During the Prayer of the Faithful at our weekend masses we will have one petition for the written requests of our parishioners.

Please consider giving to this week’s special collection, which supports the Catholic Campaign for Human Devel-opment. In the United States, one in six people live in poverty. Through this collection you support programs that address the causes of poverty and provide a sustainable future for people across the country who struggle. In addition, 25% of the funds collected will remain in our diocese to fund local antipoverty projects. Please prayer-fully consider how you can support this collection and work on the margins.

Advent Giving Tree This Christmas, help a needy family in our city by taking an envelope off of our Advent Giving Tree, located at the entrance of the church.

Prayer for the Sick “Father of goodness and love, hear our pray-ers for the sick members of our community and for all who are in need. Amid mental and physical suffering may they find consolation in your healing presence. Show your mercy as you close wounds, cure illness, make broken bodies whole and free downcast spirits. May these special people find lasting health and deliverance, and so join us in thanking you for all your gifts. We ask this through the Lord Jesus who healed those who believed. Amen.”
