Canticle—A Song of David (1 Chronicles 29:10b-13, 14b)

Blessed are you, God of Israel, for ever and ever; * for yours is the greatness, the power, the glory, the splendour and the majesty.

Everything in heaven and on earth is yours; * you are sovereign, O Lord, and you are exalted as head over all.

Riches and honour come from you* and you rule overall.

In your hand are power and might; * yours it is to give power and strength to all.

And now we give you thanks, our God,* and praise your glorious name.

For all things come from you, * and of your own have we given you.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now and will be for ever. Amen.

CUSTODIAN NEEDED

Our custodian has moved away, so we are looking for a new one. If you or someone you know is interested, please contact David Warnock, Stan Peters, or Michelle Josefson.

While we are seeking someone to hire for this paid position, we need volunteers to help us keep the church clean. Please contact Michelle if you are able to help this summer.

GENERAL SYNOD INFORMATION JULY 10—16, 2019

Election of the 14th Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada

Next month, General Synod meets in Vancouver, BC. At this meeting, we will elect the next (14th) Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada as Archbishop Fred Hiltz retires after 12 years in this position. The Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada is the bishop elected to serve as the head of the Anglican Church of Canada, playing a significant administrative role as well as a pastoral and educational role. The Primate presides over the House of Bishops, General Synod, Council of General Synod and represents the Anglican Church of Canada ecumenically and within the worldwide Anglican Communion.

The five candidates for Primate are:

The Right Rev. Jane Alexander of the diocese of Edmonton The Most Rev. Ron Cutler of the diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island and Metropolitan of the Ecclesiastical Province Of Canada The Most Rev. Gregory Kerr-Wilson of the diocese of Calgary and Metropolitan of the Ecclesiastical Province of Rupert’s Land The Right Rev. Linda Nicholls of the diocese of Huron The Right Rev. Michael Oulton of the Diocese of Ontario

The election of our next Primate is very important in the life of the Anglican church. We are encouraged to pray for the 5 bishops who have been discerned as candidates for this position and that God’s will be done in the election process as we seek to discern the person God is calling and preparing for this position.

What is Spiritual Direction?

Throughout the centuries, Christians have sought one-on-one prayerful

support, guidance in discernment, and creative challenge in their faith

journeys through the company of spiritual directors. In spiritual direction,

believers meet confidentially with “someone who can help us see and name

our own experience of God. Each of us needs to grow...to a knowledge of

the way the Spirit works in our own lives. We need to learn to recognize the

daily tracings of divine grace and to respond to them… Spiritual directors

act as companions, encouraging and supporting us, praying for us, listening

to us.” (Marjorie J. Thompson)

The goal of spiritual direction is not to fix problems but rather to recognize

where God is at work and to assist with growth in prayer and other spiritual

disciplines.

The cost is a suggested fee of $25-$50 paid to the spiritual director.*

If you are interested in learning more, please feel free to approach Catherine

Reichel ([email protected]), Darlene Pinter ([email protected]),

or Michelle Josefson ([email protected]) in person or by email.

*If the cost is prohibitive, please approach us to discuss options.

Monthly Stewardship Update Envelope offering (budgeted) to May 31, 2019 $79,167.00 Envelope offering actually received to May 31, 2019 $68, 885.00 Shortfall to date $10,282.00

The following options are available for you if you are planning on being away on vacation and want to keep current with your offering pledge: post-dated cheques, pre-authorized giving, or Paypal. Thank you for your ongoing support of the ministry of our parish.
