    Acknowledgement

This is a journal of inspiration on the priorities of life from 40 years ofwriting, taking notes, and sharing advice to others. We often read booksto seek information and to explore stories. However, we never knowhow much our own lives may be a story in the making that has helpedsomebody in their personal journey in life until we are told by them orthey are gone. We start out in life wanting to pursue our own dreamsand goals that are personally fulfilling only realizing that in time themost fulfilling purpose is serving and helping others. We mustacknowledge that often there is more love, more value, and more hope tolive life to the fullest in our times of trials and test and when we arealone. The holidays are a great example that seem to be moments ofmemories and special occasions. These are the special occasions ofwhat we value in our cultures and way of life as we were introduced into

believing of the meaning of each holiday. It is important to rememberduring these times when we must refocus and prioritize the mostimportant things in life. Often this begins with our families and friendsand extends into our jobs, community, and others. If Lois were here, shewould remind us that it begins with our exercise of faith and lovedisplayed in this world not just on a special day but in every day.

    Introduction

In the dedication and life lessons that are shared in this book fromDelores J. Morris, there is a relevance of her nickname of Lois compared to the bible character of Lois. There is a coincidence in that

both of them were grandmothers and known for their faith. Even thoughthere is not a lot information in the bible about Lois, the little that isshared tells readers everything. We do know she was a Jew from Lystraaccording to the book of Acts 16:1 and this was one of the firstmissionary trips of the great Apostle Paul. Also, there is significance inLois being mentioned as the grandmother of Timothy and a woman offaith in the book of 2 Timothy 1:5. First, there is the matter of her beingentitled as a grandmother in the bible as this is not common listingthroughout the bible but relevant to role of influence on Timothy.Second, Timothy is one of the most notable young pastors that became a

protg of the Apostle Paul and that foundation points back from theinfluence of his grandmother.

Subsequently, this faith that is recognized is relevant and present amongmany of us today. It is the faith and teachings that have been passeddown that set a standard for the priorities of life. The foundation of anindividuals values, perspectives, and choices contributes to onescharacter and growth in cultivating relationships and maximizing the

potential to obtain success. By developing faith as a virtue of positivethinking and spiritual practice, there is a belief that holds an individualaccountable and responsible for their actions and delivered actionsamong others. By maintaining healthy relationships with family andfriends there is an establishment of a support system through lifetransitions. In addition, family and friends are partakers in experiencesthat will take place for personal development and prepare individuals forthe demands of prioritizing family, work, and life balances. Our future

will consist of our self-awareness in our identities, priorities, and planning a head.

Our past is filled with history but guidance from those that have

experienced life transitions prior to our existence. This is the examplewe have from Lois in our present and it will assist us in our futurematters to come.

She loved the holiday season because of the gathering of family andfriends sharing and reminiscing on the past to reflect on ambitions forthe present and future. It was a time that granted everyone a chance toreflect on their priorities of life and enjoy the time spent among all theloved ones. If Lois were here, she would say, dont limit good timesto holidays but to live life to the fullest and maximize the potential andopportunities that will be presented along the way.

We encourage readers in this journal, to use it as a resource to simplythink about their priorities in life. We are sharing practical things fordaily usage that will create a focus to reinforce positive actions in yourevaluating what is important to you. We recommend identifying the besttime of the day to spend quality time applying the presented information. We have found that right after getting up in the morning or right before

bed are the best times to meditate and store the information in your long-term memory. The ultimate goal should be to get an understanding inorder to challenge actions that are needed to assist in positive thinkingand identifying what are you priorities to obtain. Lois in the bible is acharacter, but our Lois was a woman of present day that gave us morethat we wanted to share her life stories to motivate others.

    Day 1: Priority #1

    Foundation

There are many meanings attributed to the term foundation. Theimportant relevance here is to think about it as the beginning. It is thesource of reference to the start of something that is of meaning or value. It can be the origination of a location or belief that is implemented in anindividuals daily practice. Often the foundation is contributed tosomething that is built upon and extends into a byproduct of its display.

What does foundation mean to you?

It meant everything to Lois as a matter of her family history andexperiences that came about throughout her life. During the holidays, this meaning was more evident as she encouraged family gatherings, church services, and giving in the community. The holidays wassymbolic to her as a reminder to family and friends to gather and keepgood memories alive. It was a time period for discussion of progression

or opportunities that needed to be addressed to evaluate options to makethe right decisions. This was a time of fun, laughter, and sometimessadness in remembering those of the past but maintaining a positiveoutlook on the preparation of those relationships for the future. Lois hada heart to reach out and share with others and wanted to give to thosethat were in need. You could hear her say, I dont have much but I willgive what I do have. Her gift of love, service, and wisdom worke d wellin ministry and she knew how to apply it in all matters of personal, spiritual, and professional business. She learned to use the potential thatshe had as her foundation and build from it.

Amazingly, it is ironic how she retired as a newspaper carrier that hadone of the biggest newspaper routes in her town. She was privileged toreceive news and information often before anyone but maintainedintegrity and used wisdom in public relations. Often she literally spread

the good news and encouraged others whenever the opportunity presented itself. This was displayed in her life in all encounters and she believed that we should always leave a positive impression in all personal and business matters.

This thought process and advocacy was a lifestyle and can becontributed to the foundation of something that Lois build upon. Herfoundation begin at home, in her experiences, in how she believed, inher support, and displayed in the choices that she made. Take time thisweek to discover the activities that can encourage you to evaluate andexercise your priorities of life.

    Day 2

What does HOME represent to you?

The foundation of an individuals values, perspectives, and choicescontributes to ones character and growth in managing relationships andit begins at Home. An individuals home can refer to a place, location,or the beginning of where one is raised to contribute to this world. It is arepresentation of where the priorities for someone begins and extendsinto daily practice. A home can represent physical beauty from the

outside but once entered it can be an environment of structure, guidance, discipline, comfort, and instruction from the family that dwells within. We often grow up and leave home to explore an unknown world beyondthe preparation in our transitions in life. We discover that many thingsthat we have been taught may be challenged and present opportunitiesfor us to rely on our foundational beliefs. Most importantly, there is agratitude that contributes to what home means but this gratitude must berecognized and appreciated to gain understanding.

Take time today to reflect on what home means to you.

    Beliefs

Our beliefs are created over a period of time from the foundation of whatwe learn at home, at school, at church, and our communities. There aremany people that can contribute to our beliefs in the beginning due tothe environment that we grow up around. Often these beliefs aredeveloped among our family members and encouraged by our friends. However, as we grow in the age of understanding, we have the ability to

determine what we want to believe. As we proceed in life our beliefs aretested because of the influence and belief of others. Its important torecognize these moments of being tested to determine the response. Atest can be in any form or presented by someone to evaluate what youknow. It is these moments of recognition that a stand must be taken onwhat is believed. It is good to keep an open mind to learn as our beliefsare formed over a period of time of learning based on facts, experiences,or influences of others. The opportunity that is always present is whatare we doing with our beliefs? Do we use our beliefs in our daily livesfor personal gain, priorities, or helping others? What kind of influencedo others experience in your presents because of your beliefs? There aremany individual answers to these questions but the truth in the answersdepend on you.

What are your beliefs that are assisting you in your priorities of life?

    Day 7: Priority #2

    Faith

Faith is one of the most important terms that we use relevant to how we believe. It is used interchangeably in meaning but it is influential inaddressing our priorities in life. We discover that if we do not have faithour values and morals will often be challenged in terms of what we

believe. There could be more challenges rather than positive influencesamong others. This leads to the possibilities of being influenced and candelay an individuals focus on what they are striving to accomplish in

life.We have discovered faith to be relevant to love, time, purpose, commitment, and service to others. Each of these virtues is relevant tomankind in our daily social, civic, and professional interactions. Theway faith is used in these areas can determine positive and negativeoutcomes that can be life changing. There are many demands that areapplicable to how faith is applied but it is up to the individual to

determine their belief and practice of faith. Our family obtained a meaning of faith that was inherited, taught, andshared with others. Faith meant everything from the interpretations ofmeaning relevant to our spiritual and natural beliefs. If Lois were here, she would not waiver in the expectations of what faith meant and how itshould be used in our priorities of life. She encouraged everyone toutilize the 66 Books in the Holy Bible as a resource to learn and discoverall applications of faith. Faith can be used to build an individualscharacter in hope, love, patience, and service to others. We learned fromher that faith was the priority in life and how it was used woulddetermine the outcome of us maximizing our potential and gainingsuccess.

    Purpose

It is common for many of us at some point in our lives to question whatour purpose is. We focus on our gifts and talents and strive to findcontentment in the potential on how we need to use them. Often, we aresearching for answers to discovering our purpose but the demand of itsuse is questioned and in some cases ignored. It can be considered amatter of denial or not accepting it because we have allowed ourselvesto be consumed with others use of purpose. Our purpose has everythingto do with how we apply our faith in our lives for personal fulfillmentand serving others. The purpose we spend time striving to accept is a

matter of hope but it can be the evidence that is present and unseen.Once we discover this purpose, we use it based off of our beliefs and thefoundation that we have established for how we will operate in our dailylives. Everyone should discover or identify their purpose and make it a

priority in life to use it as needed. We may not be able to choose whatour purpose may consist of based off of our gifts and talents but we canchoose how we apply our purpose.

    Commitment

In our lives today commitment is a term that receives a lot of attention inthe forms of all media communication including social media. It isassociated mostly in relationships and the opinions spread and createvarious topics of discussion. However, commitment means so muchmore. It begins with an individuals character and desire to startsomething and finish it. It is something that is learned early anddeveloped in time in distinguishing what it takes to obtain something

that is desired. Commitment is directly related to faith by an individualunderstanding it takes believing and productive effort. Commitmentcarries a responsibility in putting in the work over time to becomestronger.

An individual that understands what a commitment means is not afraidof it as it is publicized in the media. The committed person is sincereand does not waiver in their belief and will take a stand on doing what it

right. The commitment that we value consist of ones character, actions, and practiced faith in distinguishing the priorities of life. Ultimately, this is the commitment that is encouraged and passed down to others to

promote something positive and reinforcing values to be used in ourlives.

    Day 11

    Time

By understanding time, it will help individuals manage their prioritiesand make plans to obtain their goals. Time is used as an estimatedmeasure in evaluating how long it may take to get something desired. This is relevant in all aspects of life therefore by being aware, anindividual must learn and prepare how to be effective in the waiting

period. The waiting period is significant because this is the time thatindividuals learn about patience and how it applies to building character

and faith. Faith plays a role with time because of the significance of weapply faith to obtaining what we want. We are tested in the waiting

period through temptations and other influences to strive to take controlor do something to reduce time or not stand on our faith. Yet, there aresome things that we cannot control therefore we must remain productivewhile we wait. This is how one becomes stronger and learn to use

positive things to keep us focused and patient. As time passes and thefocus is not negative or dwelling on the how of things coming about, time can become valued in our mindset. The more we value time, theless we can live life to the fullest and not regret the experiences alongthe way.

    Day 12

    Sharing with Others

Many of us learned about sharing as we transitioned through childhood.

It was the beginning of building relationships and expressing care about

another individual. It is a positive reinforcement that demonstrates that,

if one does things for another, most likely there would be a return. The

holidays was significant in our family in sharing with others. It was a

time of giving and sharing to others that were in need. The holidays alsowas a time of gratitude and memories that we used to express our faith

and belief in encouraging others. This is relevant in recognizing your

ability to share with others and utilizing it beyond personal gain. It is

great to have talents, abilities, possessions, and financial gains, but I

believe it is useless if it is not shared. Sharing goes beyond the tangible

things we see given because it could be a matter of information that

helps reveal knowledge or a solution to getting something done.

One of the greatest things that we can offer to this world is service to

one another and sharing. It does not require a lot, but it means

everything to share with another person. Today we discover the need to

share information even more in our personal and professional lives. We

need others to share information to assist us in our everyday living.

Networking is a common term relevant to sharing in the business world

and it can strengthen relationships and empower individuals with

information. In many cases, one may never know the extent or impact

one may have by sharing with another individual. Yet, sharing and

providing a service to someone in need is a positive gain for relationship

building, partnerships in achieving a common goal, and building a

    network.

Has anyone shared something with you? How often do you share with

    Day 13: Priority #3

    Family

As we are born into this world we learn about those that will be a part ofour lives. It starts with our parents, siblings, and extends to other familymembers. As time pass we begin to learn more about each other and

build a relationship because of the discovered similarities. Once wereach an age of understanding, we gain family history. We begin to takeon a sense of ownership and value in our family name and we want tocontribute to positive things that the family is known for among others.

Indeed, every family has someone that plays a major role among allmembers. It starts with the leadership of strong men rather it is agrandfather, father, or uncle these men usually demonstrate values incharacter by strength, wisdom, and their work ethic. They are problemsolvers and lead by example in demonstrating how things should bedone. The other common leadership and support we see is among thewomen such as a grandmother, mother, or aunt. These women teaches

others about communication, matters of emotion, management of house, and business needs. We understand these roles varies among all families but everyone plays a role in the family unit and it usually start at somelevel of parenting.

One of the greatest values of family is the memories that are created. Afamily shares experiences that are personal and public and theseexperiences find a way into family discussion. This family discussionusually was at a family dinner and it meant everything for everyone togather. It was a time of great food but it meant that as a family unit wewould come together and there would always be something to talkabout. We learn fast how to separate the positive from the negative andhow to enjoy the fun in all experiences. There were many other timesthat we came together as well. We took pride in the family working

together in the community, participating in church events, andencouraging the youth to maximize all opportunities in getting aneducation and participating in activities at school. All are opportunitiesthat create lasting memories.

Leadership in the FamilyAs mentioned before, everyone has role that they play in the family

beyond being related. This role is significant because everyone isimportant and can contribute to assisting family members in some way.For example, we look to our parents and grandparents for leadership, advice, and mentorship. However, we should remember that thisleadership evolved from the foundation set before them as children. Itscommon to identify who is the oldest sibling, cousin, aunt, or uncle andidentify them as leaders. They are taught to be responsible and assist intaking care of the younger kids and showing them how to do things.Leadership can begin within your household or small family and extendamong the others when gathered. At these times the values of sharing, communicating, and building relationships are practiced. Anotherdynamic in the family is the identification of talents and how they areused at home, church, school, and the community. The family rallies

together to be the first supporters of their relative of talent and claim bragging rights among others. The family environment is the first placeof training and learning the important values in life that will buildcharacter and ambitions for success. It is the beginning of yourfoundation into your interactions with the world. We encourage you to

    Road Trips

In the family dynamics of learning we believe road trips play asignificant role in spending time together, learning, and gainingexperiences. A road trip can consist of any place that family membersdecide to come together and travel rather it is short or long distance. It isan opportunity to travel outside of the common environment. Most ofthe time due to travel arrangements, it creates a chance of spendingquality time sharing and discussing everyday life experiences. Actually,it was a time of fun and games that assisted in learning. For example, we

played games that required reading a map or following a GPS,identifying the different state license plate and identifying the capitalcity, or claiming the passing car and identifying the make, model, andyear of production of the car. There were many valuable lessons learnedin these games and they assisted in the passing of time and building

relationships among the family. We knew that around one of theholidays that we would be taking a road trip. It was the best time to planfor road trips and create excitement of anticipation for everyone togather. Every road trip presented an opportunity for us to play catch up,spend time together, and learn something. We knew when it was overthat we would have an experience that would be a lasting memory.

    Memories

The memories in a family will last a lifetime. There is not a value thatcan be placed on them because they mean so much too many of us. We

believe that positive memories can be created and this is the focus forthis day. The foundation that is created begins while we are young andlearning about the family dynamics. As parents there are events, places, and things that we can do for our children to have memories. Often, theholidays are great opportunities because children receive gifts but should

be taught the meanings of love, sharing, and value of the holidayshistorical meaning. The quality time that is spent with family andfriends grant many chances to create and recall positive memories.Typically, we all have some major events that happen in our life such asat home, school, church, or participating in a social event that are filledwith memories. These memories should be utilized in exercising

gratitude and sharing experiences to help others. We think one of the best memories to hold on to would be recalling the person or persons inyour life that have had the most positive influence. This individual canextend beyond your family to your school to your community butremember what stands out the most about them. The most importantthing is to make the best use of these memories.

    Family Dinner

A family dinner was a time not just for gathering the family and eating, but it meant so much more. This was the time that the family cametogether as a team and utilized individual responsibilities to create aspecial occasion. Most of the time the family dinner would be on amajor holiday or a special day relevant to a celebration. It signified anopportunity for sharing, caring, and gratitude. It was a time that was a

part of our foundation, faith, and expectation in the family. We alllooked forward to these moments as it brought anticipation of laughter,

bragging, and playing catchup with our relatives priorities in life.

The grandparents usually hosted the family dinner. Rather it would be atchurch or at their home, they were the leaders that expressed their inputfor the preparation. Other family members would be responsible fororganizing the specific food, games, or responsibility for all that were

planning on attending the dinner. We are grateful for these times in ourlife because it promoted unity, encouragement, and contributed to ourfamily memories. We learned as children that the family dinner was oneof the main opportunities to learn about our family history. It presenteda chance to discover things that made us proud. If Lois was here, shewould hold everyone accountable for keeping the family dinners going. In her regards, it presented an opportunity to reflect on the past, present, and future growth of the family. It was significant in encouraging thegeneration of today to prepare them for the generation of tomorrow.

    Day 19: Priority #4

    Friends

Our friends are the next closest people to us beyond our familymembers. We encounter people in our everyday life in theneighborhood, school, church, and in the community. There is thediscovery of individuals sharing values and interest in common. This isthe beginning of interaction that leads to friendships. As time passes, the relationships become stronger and so there is more value in theindividuals. This leads to matters of influence and making decisions forthe priorities of life.

As creditability is given to an individual that we identify as a friend, wemust remember the values that are taught in our foundation. It isimportant that before we maintain a relationship with someone that they

possess the characteristics of someone friendly. Do they have things incommon with you that have been passed down from the way you was

raised? We should ask ourselves questions relevant to what we want inrelationships. There should be an evaluation of the positive and negativethings that will come about by accepting the relationship.

If Lois was here, she would say be careful of the company that youkeep. It was always important to her that we maintain the right peoplein our lives. The other important lesson she taught was to recognize thateverybody is not your friend. Even though there may be many

individuals in your life, it does not mean each one will be your friend. Itis good to be involved in many activities, participate on a team, andutilize support groups but only a few in those encounters will be afriend. The reality is that we have to prioritize our responsibilities andtime and multiple of friends will demand a lot of time.

    Day 20

    The Right People

The right people are those that are good for you and contribute to a positive reinforcement in your life. Identifying the right people that can be friends is not hard. We should all maintain certain characteristics, values, and expectations in ourselves. This should be the same in

choosing the right people that we have any kind of relationship withsuch as a friend. The choice does begin with the foundation andexpectation that we learn as we grow up. These choices are practiced aswe grow up and gain various experiences. By the time we are at an ageof understanding, it should be determined that the right people can only

be identified by knowing what is right.

Indeed, this is the mistake that we see often in choosing the right people. There are those that does a great job in manipulating and deceivingothers of their true identity. They may extend a hand in giving, sharing, and maintaining a relationship but there is a self-interest, personalmotive, and expectation of a return. By having the right perspectivesome of this may be understood but once there is a conflict of values, there should be questions raised. The right people will provide a benefitthat will make you stronger and assist you in reaching your goals.

What does the right people mean to you?

    Relationships

Looking at relationships relevant to the friends and family environmentwill vary from person to person. As mentioned in identifying the right

people, all relationships are determined first individually. Relationshipscan be positive experiences that assist in everyday life. It really depends

on individually what you want. Its common to have multiplerelationships that may have some type of friend perspective. We see thisin professional and personal encounters.

However, it takes two in order to have a relationship of any kind. Evenamong the family or friend environment, relationships must be evaluatedand worked out to assist all involved. Lois would tell all of us to becareful of the company you keep. She recognized that once someonewas declared a friend that the relationship was already established. Ifthe relationship was worth keeping it was best to give advice. When shesaid be careful it meant there was something that she knew and it was amatter of time before everyone would find out.

    Day 22

    Neighbors

Growing up we discovered some of the closest friends we had was ourneighbors. We were taught to love them like they were one of ourfamily members. As kids we played together and the adults was alwaysover each other house. There was times that we helped each other withyard work and borrowed things that we needed right away. Most of thetime as neighbors we went to the same schools, church, communityevents, and shared similar values. During the holidays the neighborswere invited and always brought something. They were a part of specialtimes and was supportive when it was needed.

The lesson we learned was that there is an accountability as a neighbor. It begin within yourself as an individual with character, values, and

priorities in life. As a neighbor, there is a responsibility for your ownhousehold but to your neighborhood and community as well. There arefar more benefits in working together than working a part. As aneighbor these opportunities present themselves in many ways. One ofthe greatest benefits is maintaining the maintenance and safety of theneighborhood. This helped everyone when they were away from home

but it build relationships that were life lasting. If Lois was here, shewould simply ask, Are you neighborly?

What does it mean to you to be a neighbor?

    Attractive Character

We have discussed character many times already because it should be a priority of life. It is relevant to our foundation, faith, family, friends, and anticipation of our future. An attractive character that is positivewill attract other positive people. We should desire those with attractivecharacters in our life. In particular, it is good to have family and friendsthat have attractive character to encourage and assist throughout ourdifferent experiences. This was one of many expectations that our

parents set in the foundation of growing up. Unlike others, the characterof an individual represented more meaning in representing yourindividuality. Lois would advise us all that our character would carry usa long way. She would add that it was good to be intelligent but howyou used it was the building of your character. It was simple to her

because it meant being respectful, practice all forms of manners, andleading by example. As time would pass, she said that you would learnmore from experiences and seeing the difference in others. The attractivecharacter made a big difference that presented leadership opportunities.Yet, this character was more important in leadership to lead people theright way.

    Common Goals

One of the most important things that you will do to help in your

priorities of life is setting goals. In addition to having goals is managing

these goals with the right support rather it is friends or family. Goals provide a plan, a course of action, and a vision of something that an

individual wants to accomplish. Many people talk about goals, often to

their friends, and elaborate on the things that they want. At times, these

same friends may seek advice on the best approach to achieve these

desired goals. The answer is simple, and it begins with understanding the

    meaning and use of goals.

First, a goal must be written down in order to provide a vision and plan

to evaluate periodically. If a goal is not written down, it is limited to

being a matter of desire without a plan of action. Second, we

recommend reviewing the written goals periodically to keep them fresh

in your mind and hold you accountable for putting things in action to

achieve the goals. Finally, as the goals are achieved, do not delete them,

but instead cross them out or put a date beside them. These

accomplished goals will be a reminder that will create positive

    Day 25: Priority#5

    Future

The future for many of us is a matter of anticipation of what is to come. Our priorities in life are based on things we desire and things we want toachieve in our future. All of this is good with the right perspective. However, the future doesnt have a set time line and it can vary inmeaning for everyone. The important thing is the focus on preparationand utilizing a course of action to accomplish what is desired.

We learned that each day was an opportunity to prepare for the next.Everyone has the opportunity to be an example for someone as younever know who is watching how you are preparing for the future. The

work ethic, decisions, and preparation done in the present, can createopportunities in the future. Our past experiences should be a frame ofreference to look back and learn and assist in making better decisions. We have to use wisdom to help ourselves and help others. Yet, it doesdepend on how an individual believes, think, and recognize their self-identity and maintain priorities.

Planning ahead for the future was another indicator of the wisdom thatLois shared with her family and friends. She understood that planningrequired taking action and that individually we are all responsible for ouractions. It was common to hear her tell kids that if you want a good jobor earn extra money, do well in school. This is something that is socommon that we all hear, yet when the meaning is internalized, it is very

powerful. It was not about being smart by getting an education. It was

about getting and understanding and learning all that you could so youwould have options to prepare for the future.

How are you preparing for your future?

    Day 26

    Self-Awareness

In preparing for the future, you have to know who you are and be honest

with yourself. To ask who you are is a very simple question. However,

the question can be interpreted many ways. The response can give the

details of what you think, feel, or want shared about yourself. A person

cannot plan for the future if they do not know themselves and what it

will take for them to prepare or make the right decisions for things that

they will face in preparing for the future. Individually, we are the bestsalesmen for sharing information about our individuality, experiences,

and identity. It is very important to have self-awareness about your

strengths and opportunities in order to maintain self-development. As

time passes, one should become wiser and gain experiences that will

assist in making effective decisions for a better future. This should be a

part of your everyday priorities in order to keep growing and moving

    Being an Example

As there is a continuation in maintaining a perspective with the prioritiesof life in preparation for the future, it is important to remember what itmeans to be an example. To be an example requires a responsibilitysometimes that is unknown. We are not always aware of who iswatching us but once we are aware, there is a greater responsibility.Being an example is relevant to leadership but one does not have to be ina leadership role to be an example. In many cases someone may bewatching how you are going to respond to a situation just to share withothers. Therefore we should always be aware of who is around us andwhat are we consistently doing that may influence another. We can be a

positive influence or negative one but it depends on our choices. Astime passes, it will be revealed by others the type of example that youhave been.

What type of example are you?

    Day 28

    Priorities

Throughout this journal there has been several discussions about

priorities. We should recognize that priorities have a direct influence on

our future. Applying daily practice to prepare for the future is a matter

of evaluation and recognition of priorities. Every day one must awake

and be prepared to put things into action in a practical manner to help

one obtain the goals for the day. Every day counts towards using your

potential to obtain a level of success. Therefore, make each day count

and practice focusing, exercising, and applying things that will

contribute to your learning and accomplishing tasks. Identify activitiessuch as reading a book, exercising, and maintaining a healthy eating diet

that will continue to strengthen your mind, body, and spiritual

inspiration. Life is a daily practice, so keep an open and positive mind in

all encounters, and make the best of each opportunity. Your future is a

priority and how you manage these priorities will determine what things

will be like for you in the future.

    Wisdom

Wisdom is a form of ones intellect and understanding that is relevant toall parts of life. It is a virtue from birth but can be developed over a

period of time and it is very recognizable in individuals character.Wisdom is important in decision making and is demonstrated in how wemanage our present and future success. This is one virtue that stands outthe most on how we manage our priorities of life.

Therefore how wisdom is applied means everything. This is thestrongest virtue that we learned from Lois. As a teenager, she had todrop out of school in the 8 th grade so she only had the basics ineducation. Yet, many people never knew this about her because she was

an awesome reader, writer, organizer, and effective communicator. Herwisdom seem to be instinctive and she managed the business of thechurch and home in a manner that you would have thought she was anaccountant. She knew how to survive by saving money and food whentimes were hard. Above all, she was an effective listener that knewwhen to respond and what to say to give advice and encouragement. IfLois was here, she would simply ask; do you want wisdom? read the

    book of Proverbs.

    Planning Ahead

Planning ahead is very important in managing your priorities in life. This has been discussed often because it is significant in preparing forthe future. It is relevant to managing our goals but more precise as it isthe actual plan that leads to achieving the goals. It takes an individualthat is willing to learn and desire to take action to execute a plan.

One of the greatest benefits of planning ahead is that it provides a guideto what it takes to accomplish something desired. There are requiredactions that must be executed in order for the plan to work. By planningahead, it creates an opportunity to manage time and as we look towardsthe future, we should value how our time is spent. Even though

planning ahead is recommended and encouraged, it has to be chosen. What does planning ahead mean to you?
