    Hating your body is a spiritual issue. Although it maniests in the physical, its rootsstem rom a denial o the spiritual: your innate goodness, worthiness, and divinity.Your body is simply the message, the vessel, the container or the lack o worthinessyou eel.

    The more I travel on the path o accepting my body, the more I understand this truth:hating your body is no dierent than any other stumbling block. They share a commonpurpose: theyre all pathways to our deeper selves, our spirits. In the end, were onlyhere to learn how to love, both ourselves, and others. What greater reason or liethan love itsel? What greater reason to cherish your body, your vehicle or love?

    When I was in the thick o my body image struggle, rustrated at how this issue keptreappearing in my lie, I was exhausted by my inner tapes: the tapes that told mewhat to eat or what to look like. I was equally tired o trying to transorm my tapes

    into something positive.

    What I really wanted was to stop thinking about my body at all. I wanted to escaperom my stu. Why couldnt I deal with alcoholism, or a difcult relationship ora while? You may laugh at me, but I share this story to demonstrate how the grass isalways greener: even someone elses pain looks better than your own.

    My message is to embrace your stu as your greatest teacher. When I embraced mybody image stu, welcoming its lessons, I ound my gold: a connection with my spirit.

    My connection had been severed, or years. We are born craving that connection.Without it, we wither and all prey to lies. My lie was that I had to be skinny, young,beautiul---perect---to be acceptable. Underneath my desire to accept my body wasmy desire to accept mysel. When I welcomed my body image issues, oering myselup to the lessons they had to teach me, I reclaimed my spiritual connection.
