Image of Book Why Did You Choose It? What did you think? Star Rating (The Day the Crayons Quit) I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this book somewhere before. This book is adorable! I kept smiling on every page! First I thought of connections to making lists in a Writer’s Notebook of the colors of things. Then I thought of connections to Writer’s Workshop mini-lessons on voice and letter writing! The cover is so cute- and I of course love dogs! Flipping through the pages I also loved the illustrations. The text is so simple. Great mentor text for adjectives and staying on topic. Very clever ending. Ummmthe title of course! It didn’t have any teaching points or use in the classroom that I could think of, but I would recommend it to any big brothers out there!

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this book somewhere before.

Ummm… the title of course!

It didn’t have any teaching points or use in the classroom that I could think of, but I would recommend it to any big brothers out there!

I wanted to know what a clash bash was.

I loved this book! It is written in both English and Spanish and I just loved the spunk of Marisol McDonald. I found one more book about Marisol- I wish there were 50! A great book to add to your collection! Especially if you are looking for multicultural literature! Well done Monica Brown!

I clearly have a thing for books with dogs! Ha!

This was a cute read. There was rhyme and a repetitive line. Just a good book to read and enjoy.

I have seen other Charlie books- just never read one. So now is the time!

It was interesting to read a book where school- is home school. Overall though- not a huge fan. I won’t recommend it or buy a copy for myself or my classroom.

This book was about a little

Kids being brave- and talking about being brave- I had to know more.

boy and his mom who is a sailor. It is heartfelt about what it’s like to be home when Mom is away. There need to be MORE books about this for kids. It makes me want to start up a shelf of them. This could be the first one.

This was intriguing to me- it reminded me right away of The Memory String by Eve Bunting!

I am so glad I brought this book home with me! I simply loved it! So many connections to Writer’s Workshop and Writer’s Notebooks how we keep things that are important to us. Connections to immigration and early life in America too!

What child hasn’t lost something in the lost and found box. I wanted to read about it.

This was another great story. Excellent voice- and you can connect with the characters. In the end you will have a favorite character- for sure!

. I loved horses as a girl and I’ve taught so many students who loved horses. This is a perfect book! Come to find out this author has LOTS of books about horses!

I enjoyed this book- and learned a little about horse shows in the process!

The cover called to me! And right away I knew it was a story of a concentration camp.

Turns out, this is the story of a real life couple and how they met! I had seen them on a talk show years ago!

This just seemed appropriate for the time of year. I’m surprised it was hiding on the shelf and not pulled out in a display of some sort.

This was a very cute story of what happens if the Easter Bunny misses Easter. Come to find out it was in print years and years and years ago too!

An early chapter book about horses. I had to know more!

I’m so glad I read this book! It is a series- and I want to own all of them for a classroom library some day! Or for my neice… or maybe just for myself! This first book was so cute! “I have a horse!”

This looked clever! Maybe a mixed up fairy tale- I wasn’t sure. But I was interested.

But then I started reading and it was not my cup of tea. I didn’t even finish it to be honest….

The title hooked me!

This book is full of rhyme and begs to be read aloud. Not sure I fully agree with the books overall message-but it would make for a great bed time story.

. Not sure what grabbed me- but I had never seen this book before- so why not.

The actual story was odd- I didn’t understand it- but I am sure kids would love how quirky it was! GREAT illustrations- they get 4 stars. There is so much to look at on every page.

I loved the cover art!

This was a sweet little surprise! It only gets three stars because I can’t think of many teaching connections- but I’ve already ordered it for my best friend who has a blue summer house just like this!

I am from Michigan- I love lighthouses so I had to see what this book was all about.

There was so much more that could have been said in this story. It didn't’ excite me.

The layout for the illustrations was intriguing to me.

The illustrations in this book were actually pieces of art! It was also a wordless book which was a surprise. Sadly though I did not have enough background knowledge to tell the story on the right side.

I am also looking for more books about this time period.

I had heard the story of Prince Christian of Denmark and this story brought my knowledge to life. It is a legend as the author has no idea if there is full truth to the actual story…. I still loved it!

I was interested by the illustrations and the title.

This book was just lovely. It’s amazing what slaves had to endure and yet they continued to be hopeful and full of optimistic spirit. These slaves went to “school” at night.

It looks like a good adventure story.

Take it or leave it. It isn’t much to write home about.

The title was unique. I also loved that the character was a child of color.

This is a great story about a child of biracial parents who is expecting a sibling. He wonders what “shade” of skin etc. his little brother or sister will have. Mom’s or Dad’s?

The title reminded me of books my grandma used to read! The Cat Who… so I was intrigued.

This book was amazing and odd and SO GREAT for your gifted students who are reading at a high level in Kinder and 1st grade! It was quirky and enjoyable! Again- a

This was a book that is part of a series and I need to learn about more beginning chapter books for students.

This was the first book (where they meet). It was sweet. I know many students who would enjoy this. And if they like one- there are tons more where that came from.

I love Paris!

This was an adorable book. Kind of reminds me of frog and toad. Clever and funny. I can’t wait to read about their adventures in other cities next.

Looked interesting and a great title.

This story would have been better if it were true, but while the event did happen, the story lost some of it’s appeal for me as it was mostly

fabricated.

I have a niece named Ella and it reminded me of Babar books I used to read growing up.

It was a sweet story. These would make great bedtime stories. If you like one… there are lots more! I love that it is a series.
