Environment for Cherry BlossomBonsai Tree:

The plant grows well in a bright environment that is well ventilated. It thrives outdoors during autumn, summer, and spring. These seasons offer adequate amounts of sunlight for the tree to develop. It is inactive during winter and does not require sunlight. The tree can be placed indoors during winter but it has to be watered every couple of weeks. In the summer and spring, the plant needs as much sun as possible. It has to be exposed to sunlight in the morning and afternoon. The tree can be placed on a terrace, patio, balcony, or garden to get adequate light. It is not advisable to place it indoors during these seasons. Lack of sun will damage the bonsai.

Watering:-

Each tree has specific water needs depending on the kind of soil used to grow it. The size of the pot and exposure to sunlight also influences how much water the tree requires. If it is exposed to direct sunlight, water it at least once every day. Watering is necessary whenever the soil seems dry. A moisture meter can help you to determine the exact amount of water the tree requires. Water should be dispensed softly to avoid soil disturbance. The plant is well watered if the water starts to run out of the bottom of the pot

Fertilizer:-

All miniature bonsai trees need fertilizer to develop properly. Fertilizer should be applied during fall, summer, and spring. Liquid fertilizers are recommended. Apply the fertilizer once every month during these seasons. Use half of the recommended amount on the package for this tree.

Pruning:-

The cherry blossom bonsai requires pruning to maintain its miniature size. Pruning also makes it easy to maintain a preferred shape. However, pruning should not be overdone. Some of the new growth should be maintained during trimming. This will keep the tree healthy and looking good. Early spring is a good time to prune the tree just before it starts to grow. Pruning controls water sprouts, gets rid of dead parts and thins out the interior branches. Sterile shears should be used during pruning to prevent diseases.

Pests:-This miniature tree attracts aphids and caterpillars and they can cause significant damage. Examining the tree regularly helps to identify the pests. Birds also like to feed on its flower buds and a safe location may be necessary to protect the plant.

Repotting:-

Repotting is necessary because the root system tends to fill up the pot after a while. It helps to supply fresh soil for the tree and promote the development of a thick root system. This tree species should be repotted at least once a year or after a couple of years. The best time to repot is in early spring when the bonsai is just about to start growing. During repotting, dead and unhealthy roots should be removed.
