    CHAPTER I

    BLOOD OF HIS BLOOD

While I was running a service station in Arkansas, Ibroke my front tooth off. The nerves were hanging out. Eachtime I opened my mouth, the air touched my tooth. Ithought I couldn't stand it!

A seventeen year old boy laid hands on me. Suddenlythe Lord healed that tooth so I could bite a toastedsandwich.

One day Sam threw his foot out of place. It was hardfor him to get along. It swelled up real large. He carried it in aflour sack. He walked on crutches. This affected everymember of his body. It took up time. His hands had to behelping that foot all the time. Otherwise, they could havebeen performing some useful jobs.

One night Sam received a miracle. The Lord touchedhim and healed him. Then he could spend all that precioustime helping others.

All this reminds me of the body of Christ. The church isthe body of Christ. We depend on some teacher, singer, janitor, nursery attendant, bus driver, -musician, or prayerwarrior. We arrive at church and they are out of place. Thewhole body is crippled. It affects all of us and keeps the bodyfrom functioning and doing its work for the community.

Even when some of them come to church they are notprayed up. They hurt one another's feelings. They are full ofenvy, strife, complaining, and hatred. They go around with

their nerves hanging out, as I did with that broken tooth.I want you to know God still heals. That broken tooth,

or that foot that is out of joint, can be healed. The body of Christ should be in good working order. We must be faithful to the place in which we belong so

the pastor can put confidence in us and the Lord can trust uswith a position in church. If we are faithful over that which islittle, we will also be faithful in much.

"Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble islike a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint." (Proverbs25: 19.)

NOT LONG AGO I TALKED TO A SURGEON.I always wondered how they got all those veins tied

back together when they operated on a man's stomach. Thereare so many hundreds of those little veins. I was so surprisedwhen he told me they didn't tie them back. That blood findsits way into every cell of that body again.

The blood goes to every cell of your body. You can'tcut any part of your body and find a place where there is noblood. He compared it to a low place in a bottom land. Thewater goes to every grain of soil. The water seeps into everyplace, even where there is no vein of water.

We are the body of Christ and inHis blood there is life.If we do not drink His blood, there is no life in us. (John6:51-56.)These words He spoke are Spirit and they are life. (V.63.) Spiritually speaking, Christ is that life. He is the Word.We feast upon this Word daily or we would have no spirituallife in the church. That is why we have His Word in sermonand song. That is the way the church lives. We are the bodyof Christ. There are five quarts of blood in your body. Aboutthree times each minute that blood goes to every area, purifying every cell. 2

Each part of your body is in communion with all theother parts. Your cells would die if the blood did notcirculate to them. As long as your blood circulates, you arenot dead.

It is the same with the body of Christ, which is thechurch. Each of us depend on His blood to circulate throughus to keep us alive.

As we walk in the light, the blood of Jesus Christcleanses us from all sin. (I John I :7.) You are not cleansedfrom sin if you don't walk in the light. You die and go intosin when the blood is not applied to you.

A dead part of the body must be cut off from the restof the body to live, said the surgeon.

The blood of Christ continually cleanses us from sin justas your tears in your eye continually cleanses your eye andkeeps it clean.

The blood of Christ continually makes- each one of usalive. Itmakes us members, brothers, and relatives.

We differ in structure, function, in color, in race, intalents, location, form, or work. Yet, Christ is the head andaU of us are members one of another. We must have oneanother. All the members of the body are necessary. Wedepend on the blood of Christ to flow through uscon tin ually. Christ is Life. Life is in the blood as it is in thenatural body.

"For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I havegiven it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for yoursouls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for thesoul." (Leviticus 17: 11.)RIGHTLY DISCERN THE BODY.

Some are weak. Some are sick. Some are dead becausethey don't rightly discern the bod y. (lCor. I I :29-30.)

Now we are the body of Christ. (12:27.)We must have fellowship with all of the body, and not

If the blood of Christ cleanses us from all sin, we havefellowship with all of God's people. It is a continual cleansingas we walk in the tight. You are seeing more light as you readthese lines. If you do not have fellowship with all of God's people, you are not walking in the light and it is there that you ceaseto be cleansed from all sin. It is a continual cleansing as youwalk in the light. All of God's promises are on conditions. We must meetHis condition to claim the benefits. When God says the bloodof Jesus cleanses us from all sin, He was only talking to thosepeople who walk in the light and have fellowship with all ofGod's people. He was not talking to those people who onlyfellowship their own group and count other groups secondclass or "off bra nds" or "off limits."

He is talking to those who rightly discern the body ofChrist to those who recognize all the Christians and admitthat all Christians are part of the bod y of Christ and are inthe family."But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we havefellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christhis Son cJeanseth us from all sin." (I John 1:7.)WITHOUT THE BLOOD THERE IS NO LIFE.

The blood makes us all of one family. It makes allborn-again believers in one body.

Regardless of your color, race, or citizenship, all naturalpeople are relatives by Adam's blood. This blood is defiled, sinful, and impure.God has made of one blood all nations. (Acts 17: 26.)We have Adam as our grandfather. In the vein of all naturalmen is the blood of Adam. Because Adam fell and becamesinful the sentence of death is in the defiled blood. Becauseof this, all natural men will die a common death. Spiritualdeath is in this blood of Adam.

with one denomination, or segment only.If we are born from above, we are all of one family.

Regardless if you are from Alaska, Africa, or China you are inthe body. Regardless if you are Methodist, Baptist, Catholic,or Lutheran, if you are born again, you are in the body.

We are brothers and sisters through the blood line. Weare in one body and one family. Presidents and peasants areall members necessary because they are all in the body.

Regardless of our men-made groups and denominations,we are in the body. There should be no divisions in the body.(lCor.12:25.)

Our hair-splitting formulas and self-righteous rulesshould not keep the blood of Christ from bringing His life toall the body.

We must not spend our time tearing down onedenomination to build another. We must not rob Peter to payPaul. We must spend our time getting people born againrather than building more organizations and denominations.Win souls instead of spending all your precious timeproselyting. Build the body of Christ rather than trying tobuild your own name.

We are lost unless the blood cleanses us daily. You don'tknow about the purifying blood of Christ that unifies if youspend your time building on organization. We must haveorganism in our organization.

We must all be one in Him. He does not have twobodies. He has one body. We are one. (John 17: 11, 21.)Don't get so taken up in getting members that you never winsouls for Christ.

"For both he that sanctifieth and they who aresanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed tocall them brethren." (Heb, 2: 11.)HAVE FELLOWSHIP WITH ALL THE BODY OF CHRIST.

    Recognize all Christians everywhere.5

When Adam and Eve ate of the sinful fruit, that bloodwas poisoned. All natural men are of that blood line. Whenthey ate of that fruit, they died a spiritual death. This sinfulpoison is transmitted through Adam's blood down until now.All men have in their veins Adam's sinful blood.

We are made from the same clay out of which Adamwas formed. Without life, Adam was a form. When Godbreathed into Adam, he began to live.

God breathed into Adam life. That life was in the blood.God is the life giver.Man became dead spiritually because he took spiritual

death into his blood when he ate of the forbidden fruit. Theblood of every natural man is affected by sin. All natural menhave sinful flesh because every part of his flesh is kept aliveby the blood.

You can see why Jesus had to be born of the HolyGhost without a natural father.

Christ could not have Adam's blood, though he hadAdam's flesh. It is because Adam's blood was sinful.Jesus was a perfect man because he had none of Adam'sblood in His body. He was not defiled by the Adamic natureor by Adam's sin!

Redemption resolves around the blood line because sinwas in the blood, because life is in the blood.

"For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes ofa heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying ofthe flesh: how much more shall the blood of Christ, whothrough the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot toGod, purge your conscience from dead works to serve theliving God?" (Hebrews 9: 13-14.)YOU CAN HAVE A BLOOD TRANSFUSION.

Not long ago, I walked into the hospital. A lady walkedup to me and said, "Do you remember me?" Of course, I seeso many people that I didn't call her by name. Then she toldme her story:

She had come to our services for prayer. Up until then, she had R.R negative blood. All her children had died justafter they were born. .

After prayer. she went back for her next check-up. Theyfound that she had A positive blood. God had given to her ablood transfusion by a miracle. Her case is on the recordthere at the hospital. One morning about 2:00 a.m., I received an emergencycall. I rushed over to the address the lady gave me. There laya man in the blood. All five quarts of his blood was on thefloor. He had a hole in his heart. He was lying there on thefloor with a butcher knife beside him. His brother, thatstabbed him was sitting in the car beside the house. Theambulance had not yet arrived. We prayed.

When they arrived with him at the hospital, he had beendead fifteen minutes. For some reason, they gave him a bloodtransfusion. Life came into him again. Life is in the blood. Ina few weeks, that man was out preaching. He is abusinessman and is going strong. Many lives have been saved by blood transfusions.Healthy people give part of their life to the sick andsuffering. When I was defiled by sin, Christ gave to me a bloodtransfusion. He gave me pure and undefiled blood. It wasbecause I had faith in His atoning blood.

"Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemedwith corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vainconversation received by tradition from your fathers." (IPeter 1: 18.)GOD HAS A BLOOD BANK FOR YOU.

A pastor in Los Angeles had a portable blood bank tostop in front of his church. He had a few thousand people togo out and donate blood in order that some dying personmight live. He was given a 13.4 hour -telecast every Sunday,

All Christians are saved alike.Men talk and argue over gasoline. Some say that Lion

gasoline is better, because it is the only major gasoline that isrefined in Arkansas. Some say that Gulf gasoline is bestbecause "it has no knocks." Others declare that Sinclairshould be used because "it gets more miles per gallon."Then we learned that to save transportation expense andinterstate tax, it all carne out of the same tank.

All conversions came from the same place-the blood ofJesus. For propaganda purposes, and in order to proselyte, people put their own brand on their religion, and say theirs isthe best.

Bible school boys have taken away the key ofknowledge and tried to make something simple soundcomplicated. Jesus has put His blood in reach of everyindividual under the sun. There is no respect to persons withGod.

"But in every nation he that feareth him, and workethrighteousness, is accepted with him." (Acts 10: 35.)THE SUPPLY IS IN CHRIST.

Our redemption comes from one place. At a factory outlet in St. Louis, Missouri, I started to

buy a suit."What brand is it?" I asked as I looked on the inside."We make them all," he laughed, "People put their own

brand on them to sell them."How true it is with some of our churches. They try to

monopolize on what has been done. They put their ownbrand on their salvation in order to promote and proselyte. We want to keep salvation simple. It all comes from thesame place-through the blood.

The plan of salvation rests on the atoning work ofCalvary. The blood reaches every cell of the body and keepsit alive. It unites all parts of the body of Christ.

free, when others could not buy time.Your blood can be kept in a blood bank for some dying

individual. You may give your blood this year to save the lifeof some dying person next year, regardless of his race orcolor. He may be some stranger on the other side of theworld, but you may save his life. Life is in the blood. No onewould think of charging money for this blood.

Nearly two thousand years ago, on the other side of theearth, a man gave the last drop of His sinless blood for me.The blood of the Lamb of God went into a blood bank. It isthere now free for any sinner on demand.

This blood is free to all who will apply it. It fits anytype and any race in the world. The sinless blood isINCORRUPTIBLE and undefiled. It will keep. It is neverwasted. It needs no preservatives to keep it. It can't spoil orperish. It is as fresh today as it was there on the cross ofCalvary. (lCor. 10: 16.)

Unless we drink His blood, we have no life in us. (John6:24.) When we obey the Word, we are drinking of His blood, for the Word and the blood are one. (I John 5:8.) When wepartake of the communion, we partake of His blood also, forthat is His Word. He said the fruit of the vine is His blood.(Matt. 26:28.) His Word is Spirit. (John 6:63.)

He willfully shed His blood for you. Accidents causemuch blood to be spilt in our time, but when the blood ofJesus was shed for me, it was no accident. He willfully laiddown His life for me. The blood (not a doctrine about theblood) makes peace and sanctifies us. (Heb. 13: 12.)

"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we havefellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christhis Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we confess our sins, he isfaithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us fromall unrighteousness." (1 John 1:7,9.)THIS MAKES US ALL OF ONE FAMIL Y.

The blood builds new tissues. Only a scar remains. One time my two year sister, Hazel, was playing around

a high stump where dad had just cut down a China tree witha new, sharp, double-bit ax. I had just wedged the ax into thestump four feet high leaving the handle sticking downward.

-Hazel kept playing with that handle until the ax turnedbackward and fell to the ground, one blade cutting off two ofHazel's toes and the ball of her feet.

We buried the toes and carefully washed her foot eachday and wrapped it up with a clean white cloth. Hours werespent as we kept the foot washed with warm water.

After a few weeks, we saw that the foot was not healing. We got in the wagon and drove 25 miles to the doctor. Whenhe looked at the wound, he said, "No wonder it is nothealing. You are washing all the blood off every day. Leavethat blood on there. Healing is in the blood."

We quit washing the blood off. Soon a scab formed andthe foot healed over. Life is in the blood.

Healing is in the blood. I cut my hand and nature healedit in a few days. John cut his hand. After several months ithad not healed. I had pure blood. John's blood wascontaminated with alcohol and nicotine.THERE IS HEALING IN THE BLOOD OF JESUS.

We overcame by the blood of the Lamb. (Heb.12: 10-11.) The devil accuses us before God day and night.

When Satan accuses me before God day arid night, Jesuspoints to His blood that was shed for me. He shed His ownblood and carried it into the presence of God for me. (Heb.9: 12.)Jesus is at this moment my High Priest. He is now in thepresence of God for me making intercession. (Heb.12:24-25.)If I look at myself, 1- may become defeated anddiscouraged. If I look to His blood 'that was shed for me, I

My life depends on the flow of my blood. The blood is essential to my body. The blood of Jesus is

essential to the body of Christ. The blood in my body carries the nourishment to every

cell. It carries off the waste products from my body. The blood of Jesus is the source of life. It brings my

spiritual nourishment continually, even while I am asleep. The blood of Jesus continually cleanses me from all sin, as Iwalk in the light. (I John 1:9.)The blood reaches every member of the body of Christregardless of-how far they may be from one another.

Fellowship is not on paper; it is not in a denomination;it is not in credentials, laws, or bylaws. Fellowship is not inwater baptism, creeds, or ordinances. It is in the blood. If weare cleansed from sin, we have fellowship one with another.

The saints of God have washed their robes white in theblood of Jesus. (Rev. 7: 14.)

If our robes are washed in the blood of some religiousleader, they won't be white. Try washing them in the bloodof Mary, Paul, Peter or John. Try washing them in the bloodof Moody, Finney, or Spurgeon. They will not be white.

Human blood will never make our garments white. Theblood of Jesus removes all stains from off our garments.

"I will praise thee: for I am fearfully and wonderfullymade: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knowethright well." (Psalm 139: 14.)

The blood is busy day and night healing our body. Thewhite cells increase in number rapidly. They rush to theinfected part of our bod y and bring the sore to a head and letthe pus discharge. Thus we are healed. Life is in the blood.

The white cells in our blood intercepts germs andengulfs them. When we have a wound on any part of ourbody the blood rushes to that place, forms a scab, and heelsit. The wound turns red and angry, showing the blood hasrushed to that place.

Christians in the church. "Abstain from blood." (Acts 15.)The Christians were not under the law; yet, they were

not permitted to eat blood.God is not unreasonable. He says, "Come and let us

reason together." God is for health and hygiene. Man has thebreath of life in him. He is a living soul. Life is in the blood.

Adam had an earthly body without life until God putlife (blood) into him. God's breath filled him with blood.Blood was God's price for our redemption. Man sinnedand his blood became corruptible. Incorruptible blood had tobe shed to purify man.

In Adam all died. All have sinned. Angels have no blood,so they could not redeem us. So there was one man withsinless blood. He shed his blood for us all.

The mother furnishes the flesh. The father furnishes theblood. Jesus was without an earthly father. An earthly fatherhas sinful blood. Death was destroyed by life. Life is in theblood.

The Lord counts blood sacred because life is in theblood. He tens us to eat meat that has no blood in it.,"For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, tolay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;that ye abstain from meats offered tOridols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from whichif ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well. (Acts15: 28-29.)

remember I overcame by the blood.I have no confidence in the flesh. I see no good thing inmyself. Then I look to the blood. I point Satan to Calvary. Itall depends on the blood.I overcame Satan by the blood of the Lamb, not by myblood. The white cells of Christ's blood begins to heal thewound. It atones for all my sins, faults, failures and shortcomings."And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not theirlives unto the death." (Revelations 12: II.)ONE WAY OF REDEMPTION.When the death angel flew over each home there in theLand of Goshen, the people trusted in the blood of the Lambthat was over the doorpost. Then the first born in eachfamily lived. The death angel saw the blood. It passed over. Thepeople looked to the blood. They did not look to waterbaptism, a denomination, or some ceremony. The death angelwould not have paid any attention to an organization, apreacher, or some dogma. One thing did the work. That wasthe blood. (Ex. Chapter II and 12.)

People say, "There are so many ways, I don't knowwhich way to go." That excuse will not stand at thejudgment. Jesus says, "I am the way." When you trust in thedivinity of Christ and the atoning blood, you can sing, "I'veFound The Way."GOD DOES NOT WANT US TO EAT BLOOD.

Blood is sacred, because life is in the blood. The Lordtells us to not eat blood. This commandment was before thelaw, under the law, and since the law. Noah was commandednot to cat blood. He lived long before the law was given toMoses. (Gen. 9:6.) It is a sin to eat blood, under the penalityof death. (Lev. 7:26-27.) No Jew will eat blood in our time.

The Holy Spirit gave the same commandment to the

THE BLOOD GIVES JMMUNITY FROM SIN.In the natural, the white corpuscles fight against

infection when it appears. There is also an element in the blood "antibodies,"

which helps to prevent infection. They form to keep a manfrom taking the same disease the second time.

The blood of Jesus helps me not to fall into the same13

sins that I once committed. I pled the blood against thatsame sin, so it cannot return.

A pig loves a mud hole and is comfortable there. Asheep hates a mud hole. Even if the sheep falls into a mudhole, it won't remain there long.

If the blood can remit our sins, it can keep us from sin.If Jesus lifted us out of the mud hole, He can keep us out ofit. The blood does not only cleanse us, but it preserves, protects, and prevents future sin if we plead that bloodcontinually.

"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we havefellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christhis Son c1eanseth us from all sin." (lJohn 1:7.)WE MUST BELIEVE IN THE VIRGIN BIRTH OF CHRIST.

There is no other way to be saved. Ifyou do not beJievethat Jesus Christ has come in the flesh, you are antichrist. (IJohn 2:22.)

Jesus was conceived by the Holy Ghost in the womb ofa virgin. (Matt. I22-23.) Itwas without the help of a humanfather.

This is why Jesus was sinless. That is why He can give asinner a blood transfusion and cleanse him.

Sin was handed down to human beings through theblood. No drop of Jesus' blood was defiled by the sinfulblood of Adam's descendants. Jesus received His flesh fromHis mother and His blood by a supernatural miracle.

The blood in an unborn baby comes from the fatherrather than from the mother.

The female egg does not contain the element to makeblood.

An infertile egg can never hatch without a rooster. Thepresence of a rooster brings life to a hen egg. Red streaksform in a fertile egg, showing it contains blood. A roosterbrings life to the egg, for life is in the blood.

    14

It is the same with a human being. All the blood in anunborn babe forms from the embryo. No blood passes fromthe mother to the baby. All the blood in the unborn childcomes from the male sperm.

Science testifies to this in Howell's textbook ofphysiology, second edition. P. 885-886. Read William'sPractice of Obstetrics, 3rd Edition. P. 133.

The circulation starts in the embryo. It is separate fromthat of the mother.THE BLOOD OF JESUS IS INCORRUPTIBLE.

No blood can pass from the mother to the offspring.Adam's sin was transmitted through blood. Therefore, noAdamic blood could ever enter the body of Jesus. Godprovided a way so a man could be the descendant of Adamand yet have sinless blood.

The fact that Mary was sinless would not make Jesussinless since she had Adam's blood in her.

"Forasmuch then as the childr~n are partakers of fleshand blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same;that through death he might destroy him that had the powerof death, that is, the devil." (Heb, 2: 14.)

Jesus took on Himself human flesh, but He did not haveAdam's blood.

The natural children are partakers of flesh and blood, but Jesus "took part of the same," meaning He took part ofit, "but not all of it."

The children of men took on both the flesh and bloodof Adam, but Jesus took the flesh P~xt and took His bloodfrom the divine conception.Because of Adam's sin, the human blood was defiled bysin. Embalming fluid must be put into the body of a deadman because his blood is corruptible. But the body of Jesusdid not see corruption. (Acts 2:27.) His blood was undefiled. He was a holy child.

Jesus laid down His life and rose by His own power. All men are under the curse of death who do not have

the cleansing blood of Jesus"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that,

while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much morethen, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved fromwrath through him." (Romans 5:8-9.)JESUS SHED INNOCENT BLOOD.

Jesus was a perfect human being. The blood of the first Adam became sinful. The blood

of the last Ada m was undefiled. In the veins of Jesus wasinnocent blood. It was sinless and divine. Jesus' blood wasinnocent. Judas said, "I have betrayed innocent blood."(Matt. 27:4.)

Jesus was conceived by a divine Father. Therefore, Hehad divine, sinless blood. That was the only way He could beour Saviour.

Have you betrayed innocent blood? Have you countedthe blood of Jesus an unholy thing? (Heb, 10:29.) Have youinsulted Him by saying that He had human blood in Hisveins?

The blood of Abel cried out from the ground againstCain. Is the blood of our Lord crying out against you? Whenyou reach the judgment will the blood of Jesus cry outagainst you? Have you betrayed innocent blood as Judas did.

Just as God made of one blood all nations, so He hasmade of one blood all Christians. The blood of Jesus makesus all of one size. The blood of Jesus makes all Christians inthe same class and in the same family.

We are members of the same body. We are aU dependentof each other. When one member is blessed, we must allrejoice. When one member suffers, we must aU suffer with it.Rejoice with them that rejoice and weep with them thatweep.

    CHAPTER IIBONE OF HIS BONE

II When Iwas a teenager, because I was the smallest, andthe lightest person on the job Iwas designated as the "treemonkey." We were picking peaches in the Highland PeachOrchard near Nashvil1e, Arkansas.

Inoticed one thing. The same sap that ran through thevine also ran through the branches. It went in to the frui t andcaused these large peaches to be full of juice.

There were vines and branches and fruit, but it was allone tree. We are all one in Christ. (Gal. 3: 28.) Christ nowlives in us. (Gal. 2: 20.)

Sometimes a limb would break while I was up in thattree gathering peaches. In a few days we noticed that the sapfrom that tree would form around that wound. A waxformed, resembling a scab on your sore hand. That fluidwould heal that wound.

This reminds me of the blood in your body that rushesto a wound and heals it. Soon the scab falIs off, leaving somenew flesh. Only a scar remains. New skin has formed.

It is the same with the body of Christ. Itmay receive awound, but the blood that circulates through the whole bodyhas a healing balm in it. When a member of the bodybecomes wounded, spiritually or physically, the blood thatcleanses and heals rushes to that member of the body ofChrist. Soon he is healed and restored. Although a scarremains, he is in good working order again.

The rest of the tree does not cast him off, but it sendsthe healing balm to his rescue, That is the way the body ofChrist works. We are all members one of another. When weovertake a brother in a fault, we who are spiritual restoreshim.

"I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth inme, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: forwithout me yc can do nothing." (John 15:5.)

TH IS IS NOT AN ILLUSTRATION.This is not a fancy; it is an actual fact. The life of Christ

flows through every member of the body of Christ.Christ is our life. (Col. 3:4.) We live this life by the faith

of the Son of God (not in the son of God). (Gal. 2:20.)Jesus is the vine. Each of us, who are members of His

body, is a branch. His life flows through each of us. Becauseof that life, because we are connected, because His very lifeflows through LIS, we bring forth fruit, more fruit, and muchfru it.

(lis words arc Spirit and they are life. (John 6: 63.)Unless we cat of His flesh (word), we have no lire in us. (John6: 54.) We arc partakers of Christ. We have the mind ofChrist. (Col. 2: 16.)

We arc bone of His bone and flesh of His flesh. (Romans8: 5.) We arc clean, not by some doctrine or dogma, butthrough the Word which He speaks to us as we actually feedupon that Word. (John 15:3.)

Jesus is that Bread that came down from heaven. (John6:41.) He is that manna. If we feed on this bread, we willnever hunger.

The bread we ate last month, or last week, is notsufficient. He that "catcth" of this bread will not hunger. The word "cute th" means a continuation. "He that continuesto eat." Moffett's translation says, "He that fccdcth on thisbread."

He that drinkcth of this water shall never thirst or "hethat continues to drink of this water."

"Labor not [or the meat which pcrisheth, but for thatmeat which cndureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of'!Ian shall give unto you: for him hath God the Fathersealed." (John 6:27.)

The people tried to store up the manna and it bredworms. They had to gather it each day. We give ourselves to1esus all at once. He gives Himself to us day by clay as wefeed upon Him. He is the Bread of Life.

The true Bread of God is he which gives His life untothe world. (John 6:33.)"He that cometh to me shall never hunger." That"cometh" means a continuation, or he that "continues tocome."

If we believe on Him, we have everlasting life abiding inus right now. We are partakers of His divine nature. (II Peter1:4.) He hath given us all things that pertain to life andgodliness. Christ is formed in us now. (Gal. 4: 19.)

"This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die." (John 6: 53.) Forme to live is Christ. (Phil. I: 21.)

We have everlasting life abiding in us now. He is theresurrection and the life.

Someone said, "We take this by faith."If I take a biscuit by faith, I will have a real biscuit that

can cat and digest. It will not be something imaginary. Itwon't be in my mind only;' 1 can put it into my mouth andinto my stomach. It will go into my blood, in my veins, andinto every cell of my body.

We are not going to have eternal life. We have eternallife in us now, abiding in us. Jesus is that life. He is in us now.

"Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hatheternal life; and [ will raise him up at the last day. For myflesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He thatcateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwclleth in me, andI in him." (John 6:54-56.)

THE MYSTERY OF THE GENTILES.To the natural mind, this is a great mystery; this is a

stumbling bloek to many. When Jesus told His disciples this18 19

    12/18

tru th, how they must eat His flesh and drink His blood, thepeople turned around and walked no more with Him. Heturned to His disciples and asked, "Will ye also go away?"(John 6:66.)

His words are Spirit and they are life. (John 6: 6 3.) He isthe Word. If we live, we must feast on His Word. His Wordgives us strength.

What is the mystery of the Gentiles? "Christ in you, thehope of glory."The Communists drew a picture of Jesus' body. His

disciples were eating His body. They had cups drinking Hisblood as it flowed out of His side. They were making fun ofHim.

They drew a picture of Russia climbing up a ladder intoheaven to dethrone God.The Communists said, "We have conquered space. We

found God nowhere." Someone changed "nowhere" to"now-here" using the same letters Christ is in us, the hope ofglory.

"To whom God would make known what is the richesof the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which isChrist in you, the hope of glory." (Col. I: 27.)

HE WALKS AND TALKS IN US NOW. (II Cor. 6: 16.)He and His Father have taken up their abode. They aredwelling in us now. (John 14:23; John 3:24.)

We have the mind of Christ. (lCor. 2: 16.) We have Hisfaith, His wisdom, His nature, and His love. Our faith willnever cast out devils. Our love will never go the second mileand turn the other cheek. We can't live this life. He comes inus and lives it for us.

The other day a woman yielded to temptations andexcused herself by saying, "You know that 1 am onlyhuman."

We are more than human. We have in us all things that

pertain to life and godliness. (II Peter I: 3 .) We are partakersof His divine nature. (V. 4.) We are born from above. I havethe mind that was in Christ Jesus. Phil. 2:5.)

"Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for hisseed rernaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is bornof God." (I John 3:9.)

HIS WORD ABIDES IN US. (John 15:7.)Just as the sap flows through that vine into the branch

He is abiding in us now. He is the Word. We have theknowledge of Christ Jesus not "about the Lord Jesus." (Phil.3:8.)

We are God's temple. (I Cor. 3: 16.) We are His house.(Heb. 3:6.) We are His vessel. (II Tim. 2:21.) We are Histabernacle. (II Peter 1: 13.) He docs not d well in a temp Iemade with hands. (Acts 7: 48.)

From Paul's body was taken handkerchiefs. The sickwere healed. Devils fled! That was not just a doctrine, thevirtue of Christ was in those aprons. (Acts 19: 11-12.)

When the sick woman touched the clothes of Jesus, virtue went out of His body. She felt virtue go into her body. That virtue was Christ. (Mark 5.)was Christ. (Mark 5.)

We can have that same virtue in us for He is in us."And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities,

or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought himthat they might touch if it were but the border of hisgarment: and as many as touched him were made whole."(Mark 6: 56.)

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me,the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works thanthese shall he do; because I go unto my Father." (John14: 12.)

THE KlNGDOM OF GOD IS WITHIN US. (Rom.14: 17; Luke 17:21.) Our body is God's temple. (ICor. 3: 17.)

This is not an illustration. It is a fact. We are baptized withthe Iloly Ghost and fire. (Luke 3: 16.) Jesus and His Fatherabides in us now.

One preacher said, "There is nothing in my hands toheal people." Then he should keep his filthy hands off of thepeople's heads. Why Jay empty hands on empty heads?

By the hands or the apostles were many signs andwonders wrought. (Acts 5: 12.) They had power in theirhands. Every believer must have power in his hands if he "is"baptized. (Mark 15: 16-18.)

This is not water baptism, but it is the baptism ofpower. (Luke 3:16; Romans 6:3; I Cor. 12:13.) None ofthese verses mention water. Water is the symbol of the Spirit.Water baptism is the symbol of the Spirit baptism. Why havethe symbol if you clon't have the reality? We don't just learnabout Christ. We receive Christ. (Col. 2:6.)

The signs will follow he that believeth and "isbaptized," (present tense), not he that "was" baptized. Abillion people have been baptized in water, but the signsdon't follow them. Our life is hid with Christ in God. (Col.3: 3.)

"They shall Jay hands on the sick and they shallrecover." (Mark 16: 17.

PRESENT YOUR BODY TO THE LORD.Make the Lord a present of your body. If I loan you my

car once per week, you won't overhaul it. If 1 give it to youseven days per week, you will fix it up in running condition.

If you loan the Lord your body 011 Sunday, He can't useit. If you give your body to Him to be used in His serviceseven days each week, He will overhaul it and fix it up. Hewill dwell in that bo dy because it is His to be used in Hisservice.

In fact that is the only way that He will accept this gift.It must be holy and undefiled. We must cleanse ourself from

all filthiness of the flesh perfecting holiness in the fear ofGod. (II Cor. 7: 1.) Your whole body must be preservedblameless. (lThes. 5:23.) Your whole body will be full oflight. (Matt. 6:22.) God is light. (I John II :5.) God wants todwell in your body all the time. (lCor. 3: 16.) Your body is atemple in which He desires to dwell. (Y. 19.)

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies ofGod, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."(Romans 12: 1.)

EACH ONE OF US IS A MEMBER OF THE BODY OFCHRIST.

Each member is dependent on the other members. There arc many miles of tubing in your body. Any one ofthese tubes could go wrong at anytime, and your whole bodywould have to slow down or stop going.

Your body is fearfully and wonderfully made. It is busyhealing itself all the time. Any part could stop functioning atany time.

Each one of LIS in Christ's body must help the rest of thebody. Rejoice with them that rejoice and weep with themthat weep. (Rom. 12: 15.)

No man has ever hated his own body. (Eph, 5:29.) Nomember of Christ's body must hate the other members. Theymust boost and help one another.

All members have not the same office. Every member ofour natural body has its place. It has certain duties toperform.

There are no two snowflakes alike. God is a God ofvariety. There is something new every day. I've had the HolyGhost 45 years. Every day God does something new. Thisexperience never gets old. I am part of an exciting experienceevery clay.

"For as we have many members in one body, and all22 23

    14/18

members have not the same office." (Romans 12:4.)WE ARE MEMBERS ONE OF ANOTHER.None of us have the same office. Each member has its

place in the body. It wiJI not fit into any place in the bodyexcept the place for which it is made.

When Ezekiel prophesied to some bones, each bonecame to its rightful place. There stood up an exceeding greatarmy. (Ezek. 37.)

As we prophesy to the body of Christ, each member willget in its own place. We will march forth as an army withbanners. We will win the war.

On the Day of Pentecost, they were all in their place. Arevival followed.

Even a wild goose knows its place. We must have asmuch sense as a goose. I was always sorry for a little dog thathad lost its place. Every member must find its place.

No one can be faithful to two wives, two husbands, twomasters, two jobs, or two pastors. Ifwe don't find our place,we are a misfit.

No one can preach, pray, witness, sing, or testify likeyou. No one can take your place in the body. You can't takesomeone's place. When God made you, He threw away themold.

You can't hire a substitute to go in your place. Peter,Paul, John, or Philip didn't. You must win souls. God hasfixed it so everyone can get a reward for winning souls. Else abillionaire could hire substitutes to win aU the souls. Hewould get all the rewards.

"And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection fromthe dead." (Romans 1:4.)

WEWILL DEPEND ON ONE ANOTHER.If I mash my finger immediately, my other hand comes

to its rescue. I put my hand into my mouth. My eyes shed

tears. My feet begin to walk. My mouth cries for help. When you are out of place, you take up the time of the

other members of the body. They should be using that timein winning souls.Peter and John did not spend all their time praying for

one another, or prophesying over one another. They wentout where the crippled man was. After he got healed, 3000souls came to Christ.

God's perfect will is for us to have divine health andcarry healing to sinners. Healing is a door step to lead peopleto salvation. We are not to spend all our time asking God toforgive the sins of one another. We must take Salvation toothers.

We depend on one another for life. Life flows throughthe whole body of Christ.

"Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only forwrath, but also for conscience sake." (Romans 13:5.)

NO TWO MEMBERS HAVE THE SAME WORK. Thereare diversities of operations. (I Cor. 12.) No two evangelistspray for the sick alike, or make altar calls exactly alike. Wecan't copy from Moody, Finney, or Spurgeon. This is not amethod. It is a ministry. We must be original. We are not arubber stamp. We must be a voice crying out for God. Wehave too many echoes. They echo what Moody said for thosepeople back in his day.

When Brother Coe prayed for the sick, he would hit alady in the stomach. The tumor disappeared. Don't you trythat!

Don't pull a woman out of a wheel chair becausesomeone else did. You may make her worse. Brother D has aministry. He touches people. They can't stand up. They fallunder the power of God. They get up healed. Another bigman tries to copy Brother D. This big man goes along andpushes all the frail, sickly people down on the floor. They are

    24 25

not healed. They may get nothing but a broken hip or awrenched back.

"Having then gifts differing according to the grace thatis given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy accordingto the proportion of faith." (Romans 12:6.)

NO TWO HAS THE SAME GIFT.No two parts of your body have the same work to do.

No two people speak in tongues alike, interpret the same, orprophesy alike. God is a God of variety. .

You must not overstep faith. When you get throughprophesying, don't just keep on talking. You may cancel outwhat you have done already.

A man may get a revelation and reveal the names andaddresses of ten people. If he oversteps faith; and keeps on,he may miss the next time and cancel out what he has donein the service.

Peter was heavily anointed with his own spirit when hecut the man's ear off. Many good people may get anointedwith their own spirit and keep on prophesying after God hasfinished with them.

"Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering; or he thatteacheth, on teach ing." (Roma ns 12: 7.)

DON'T JUST KEEP ON TALKING.If anything be revealed to one, let the other hold his

peace. When you get a car sold, stop talking or you may"un-sell" it.

When it is time to draw in the net, don't keep onpreaching, or the fish will get away.

When you reach the climax in your teaching, all the restis anti-climax.

If God uses you to exhort someone, stop when youfinish the message, or there may be some human clement inyour ministry.

God may trust you with the gift of giving. He can't trust

you if you get in self and give all you have away. The fable says that a hen laid a golden egg. They cut her

open and got all her eggs at once. She never laid another egg.God may let a pastor straighten out a problem. He may

tackle another problem in self and make things worse. We may be sent on an errand of mercy. Then we may

brag and boast about it. We may do it grudgingly and lose ourreward. We can lose a fish from our hook.

"And prevailed not; neither was their place found anymore in heaven." (Rev. 12: 8.)

WE MUST RECOGNIZE THE OTHER MEMBERS.You are not all of Christ's body, You are only part of it.

You may have the love of God, but you must not be partialto any part of the body. There must not be any cliques andparty spirits. Be on an equal with others.

"Let love be without dissimulation." (Y. 9.)We must learn to prefer other members of the bally and

remember the golden rule. Some go by the rule of gold,"Preferring one anot her." (Y. 10.) Let's don't take adv an tageof one another because we can.

One evangelist put his tent up right in front of anothertent revival to show his strength. Your hand would not hurtyour foot.

One evangelist closed a good revival in a church. He hadan invitation back, but he chose to piteh his tent across thestreet.

Each member of the body must seck to help the othermembers when they get in trouble.

"Distributing to the necessity of saints; given tohospitality. Bless them which persecu te you: b less, and cursenot. Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with themthat weep. Be of the same mind one toward another. Mindnot high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be notwise in your own conceits. Recompense to no man evil for

evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it bepossible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with allmen." (Romans 12: 13-18.)

CHRIST DOES NOT HAVE TWO BODIES.Jesus docs not have a thousand bodies, one for each

denomination, but al l Christians in the world are in the samebody. There arc 206 bones in my body, but each of them havetheir duty to perform. There are thousands of members in

the body of Christ. Each of them have their place and theirfunction.

One of the members can't take the place of another.Christ is the head of the body. He purchased the church withHis own blood.

"The body is one, and hath many members." (I Cor.12: 12.)

WE FEAST ON CHRIST CONTINUALLY.He is the Bread of Life. He is the Water of Life. Everytime we feast on the Won], we are partaking of His flesh. He

is the Word.He took the Bread and broke it and said, "This is my

body. Anytime we obey His Word, we are feasting on Himand taking Him into our body.

Christ is our life. (Col. 3:4.) Unless we eat His flesh, wehave no life in us. (John 6: 53.)

We desire the sincere milk of the Word that we maygrow thereby. (I Peter 2: 2 .) His flesh is meat indeed. (John6: 55.) We have meat to eat that many don't know about.(John 4.)

The whole body is fitly framed together when we are inour rightful place in Christ. The love of God keeps each jointfrom running dry and screaking. God is love. That God partin our join ts is like lubrication to a car. Leave the grease outof the join ts of a car and it will screak and make noise. Leak

God out of the body and it will screak and rattle. In our natural body, we have a fluid in our joints that

keeps each joint in good working order. We bend our jointswithout friction. Without that fluid, we take arthritis or haveaU kinds of bone trouble.

The members of the body of Christ must have thisdivine strength between them as they are joined on to oneanother in order to be in good working order and not takespiritual arthritis.

"From whom the whole body fitly joined together andcompacted by that which every joint supplieth, according tothe effectual working in the measure of every part, makethincrease of the body unto the edifying of itself in love."(Eph. 4: 16.)

WE MUST SUBMIT OURSELVES ONE TOANOTHER. (Eph. 5:21.)

We must bear one another's burdens and fulfill the lawof Christ. We must weep with them that weep and rejoicewith them that rejoice. We must go to one another's rescuewhen we are in trouble. What one of us does affects theothers.

In Africa I was knocked out and left for dead. At thatmoment a sister in America felt it. She interceded for me inprayer. When I came back to life, some saints were aroundme praying. Paul was stoned to death. By intercessory prayer,he came back to life. (Acts 14.) The church prayed for Peterand he was delivered from prison.

Several times in one night God woke me up and told meto pray for certain people who were in trouble. They were inanother state or another city. Yet we were connectedtogether. We were in the same body.

Many people have told me that I came into their sickroom, or hospital room. As I laid hands on them, they werehealed. My natural body was at home. We arc all in the same

    17/18

body. Paul could visit people without his body. (I Cor. 6: 13.)We-have a natural body and a spiritual body. (ICor. 15:44.)

The blood in your body continually takes nourishmentto every cell. It makes your bones and muscles grow. Whatyou eat actually becomes a part of you. It is the same way inthe body of Christ. We feast upon Him.

"For we arc members of his body, of his flesh, and ofhis bones." (Ephesians 5:30.)EVERY MEMBER OF YOUR BODY IS NECESSARY.

(ICor. 12.)Your kidneys could stop functioning and you would bedead in a short while. You arc a member of the body of Christ. You are

necessary. Lay your hand on your heart and say, "I amnecessary. No one can take my place."

No member can say to another, "I have no need ofyou." (l Cor. 12.)Iwas told the other day that all ten toes are necessary,or we would not have the right equilibrium.I heard on-the news that lately they have found that weneed our tonsils and appendix.Just like the hidden parts in a building are necessary so

we need all the members of Christ. You don't see thefoundation, but it holds up the whole house.

Prayer warriors and intercessors are not seen in thepulpit, but they keep the church going.

Put your hand on your heart and say, "Without me Ican do nothing."We have the mind of Christ. (I Cor. 2.) The anointing

that is in us (Christ) teaches us all things. 1t abides in us at alltimes, going from one member to another just as our bloodcirculates in our body. (J John 2:27.) Christ is our life.

"Let this mind be in you, which was also in ChristJesus." (Phil. 2:5.)

WE RECENE CHRIST WHEN WE BECOME AMEMBER.

I'm not talking about becoming a member of the localchurch. I'm talking about becoming a member of His body.

We don't receive a ritual. We actually receive Christ. Hecomes into dwell.

We are baptized into Christ. (Rom. 6~I Cor. 12.) We puton Christ. (Rom. 13:14.) We get into Christ. (Rom. 6:3.) Webecome one. (Heb, 2: II.) We are baptized into. His name.(Acts 2:38.) Iam not talking about being bound by certainceremonies.

We pull off the old man and put on the new man. (Eph,4:24.) We can do the works Christ did. (John 14: J 2.) We canforgive in His person, (ICor. 2: 10), remit sins. (John 20: 23.)

When Igot married, Ididn't get a married religion, Igota person. When I received Christ, Idid not get a religion. Ireceived a person. Ican do things in His stead. It is not methat does the work, but the anointing. (Luke 4: 18.)

"And when Zechariah saw him, he was troubled, andfear fell upon him." (Luke 1:12.)

THERE MUST BE NO SCHISMS IN THE BODY. (ICor. 12:25.)

There must be no cornrnunicaition gap. We must be soclose to one another that we can feel one another's burdens, problems, and cares. We must rush to our fallen brother inintercessory prayer. We support one another as the membersof our body do. When Imash one hand the other hand goesto its rescue. Idon't cut that wounded hand off or "turn itout."

There must be no generation gaps. In the body of Christwe have all ages. This anointing is for you and your children.Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy. We mustrecognize all the body of Christ, even the teenagers andschool children.

There must be no racial gaps. The body includes everyrace, kindred, and tongue. (Rev. 5:9.) In aU nations we havebeen redeemed by the same blood. Whether we are Russians,Chinese, Africans, or Americans we are all one.

There must be no denominational gaps. We must workto heal all the body, and not make the gaps wider by buildingmore denominational fences and shutting out part of thebody from our fellowship.

"For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free;and have been all made to drink into one Spirit." (I Cor.12: 13.)

WE HAVE CHRIST IN OUR BODY.Paul bore in his body (not on his body) the works of the

Lord Jesus. (Gal. 6: 17.) He wanted Christ to be magnified inhis body. (Phil. I :20.) Christ is dwelling in our bodies. (1 Cor.3: 16.)

The Bible does not teach that only our spirits aremembers of the .body of Christ. It tells us plainly that ourbodies arc the members of Christ's body. (ICor. 6: 17.)

IT TAKES ALL OF US TO MAKE CHRIST'S BODY.Christ is the head of the body. (Col. I: 18.) His body is

the church. (V. 24.) Denomination is only a segment of Hisbody. The body is of Christ, all Christians. (2: 17.) Christfurnishes the nourishment that keeps the members of thebody alive and together. (V. 19.) Every Christian is caJledinto one body. (3: 15.)Christ fills every cell of my body. (Eph. 1: 23.) We areall reconciled into one body by what took place at Calvary. His blood circulates through the body continuaUy cleansing itand bringing life. (2: 16.) All nationalities are in the body ofChrist if they are born from above. (3:6.) There is only onebody. (4:4.) Pastors, teachers, and evangelists help to buildthis body. (4: 12.) It is kept purified by Christ's blood.
