Project Description
Lynchburg was once a thriving city that struggles today to economically prevail and provide for civilians. The goal of our studio group project is to create a cohesive path throughout Lynchburg to further celebrate the city’s historic, artistic, and natural attributes. Furthermore, we want to highlight aspects of the town that are often overlooked and help establish an identity for Lynchburg. I selected the historical path and looked carefully at the area surrounding the Lynchburg Museum and Monument Terrace. One of the pressing issues with Lynchburg’s grid layout and steep topography is its lack of circulation. Additionally, the building programming at the top of the Monument Terrace is strictly civic. Thus, a new development at the top of the hill would attract individuals, populate the given region, and celebrate its culture.Lynchburg has few museums in the downtown area. The most renowned is the Lynchburg Museum, followed by the Amazement Square Museum for children. That being said, there are many local artists and art organizations, but there is not a contemporary art museum where locals can exhibit their work. Thus, devel-oping a new museum by the old Lynchburg Museum would attract people to both museums.

Project DescriptionFor this project we were assigned a region of the Architecture School and were instructed to look for spaces of opportunities to build. The structure was supposed to encourage relaxation/sleep for students. My “pod” essentially acts as a bridge between the Architecture School and nearby Fine Arts Library. It is made of a flexible material and meant to encourage leisure activity.

Project DescriptionI have always had a passion for photography, which peaked my interest in architecture. Photography allows for me to see the world through a new lens & perspective, similar to the lens required for architecture. I have enjoyed taking photographs in various regions and lighting.
