Introduction The SEG-BSC successfully organized two short courses with excursions of a day and a principal course with field trips. The main objective was to promote the knowledge in Economic Geology and techniques of exploration of the mineral resources from Bolivia, also to promote the interactions among members of the geoscientist community. 1. Field Trip

The course co-organized by the Association of Geologists of Bolivia (CGB) and the SEG-BSC was “World Class Polymetallic Deposits in Quechisla District, South of Bolivia" held 23 to 28 April 2016 in Quechisla District of the Potosi State. The theoretical portion was held in the Auditorium of Telamayu (2 Days) and field trips (4 days) included visits to the sites of Choroma, Animas y Siete Suyos, Chorolque and Tasna. The instructors were Dr. Stewart Redwood (SEG 1992 F), Dr. Kevin B. Heather (SEG 1998 F) and Dr. Osvaldo Arce (SEG 2008 F). The course was sponsored by the Association of Geologists of Bolivia (CGB), The Stewart R. Wallace Fund from SEG, SEG Bolivian Student Chapter, San Cristobal Mining, Pan American Silver and Mining Corporation of Bolivia (COMIBOL). Fifty five people including professionals, students and foreign participants participated.
The leader was Osvaldo Arce, president of the Association of Geologists of Bolivia (CGB) who worked with the executive committee of the SEG-BSC (Zahira Martinez, Jorge Jora, Prsicila Gutierrez and Claudia Coronado) and the coordinator Hernan Reynoso of COMIBOL, to make this course possible.
The Stewart R. Wallace Fund from SEG was used in this Field trip for daily food for 2 and a half days for all participants, San Cristobal Mining Fund was used to pay train tickets of the line Andina Railway Company from Oruro to Atocha just one way, also for daily food for 3 and a half days. Pan American Silver Mining Company Fund was used for Dr. Stewart Redwood and Dr. Kevin Heather return airplane tickets from La Paz to Uyuni and vice versa, and Dr. Osvaldo Arce return airplane tickets from Uyuni to La Paz, COMIBOL was the Company that was responsible for hosting all Bolivians and foreigners participants. CGB and SEG-BSC were responsible for sponsoring return bus tickets of the all Bolivian students from Telamayu to Oruro, rent a Bus car and gasoline for 4 days and all theoretical material for fifty five people. The detail is given in excel sheet. After two days of theoretical part, the next field visits were made in the district of Quechisla.

BENEFITS TO STUDENTS
The main objective of these course was to share knowledge and develop theoretical and practical concepts related to the exploration of mineral deposits, a task that could take us to generate wealth, development and more jobs for Bolivians.
Furthermore, the thriving mining industry is a key element in achieving development goals with a diversified and healthy economy that provides all regions and communities many opportunities and alternatives for a better quality of life.
2. Short Excursions
Short Course: “Geologic Mapping applied to mining exploration” From April 8 to 9, 2016
The SEG-BSC “Vision for Geosciences in Bolivia” successfully organized this Short Course of Mining Exploration which included both theory and field practice in Chacaltaya Mine. The course had 16 participants, most of them were students from the universities that teach Geology in Bolivia (La Paz, Oruro and Potosi). The Sponsors were Maldonado Explorations Company and CGB (Association of Geologist of Bolivia).

April, 9th
The field visit took place at the Chacaltaya tin Mine. Chacaltaya is located 30 Km of the City of La Paz, and is into Andean Mountain Belt. In this place it was observed lithological contacts between Andesitic Breccias and Paleozoical Rocks of the sandy composition, stock works structures, types of hydrothermal alteration and mineralization characteristics, only in surface.
The visit was since 8:00 until 16:00 hours in the work field area. The travel took an hour since the city of La Paz toward the place, on a mini-bus and the return was the same time. The leader was Dr. Wilfredo Ramos.

Short Course: “Contact Metamorphism in the “Quimsa Cruz Mountains” from Sptember 30th and October 1th 2016
The contact metamorphism rocks are not well studied and are not broadly exposed in Bolivia. The tertiary intrusive Quimsa Cruz is one of the few examples near La Paz.
October, 1th
The field area developed in Quime, nearest to Caracoles Mining District since 10:00 to 18:00 Hrs. The town of Quime is located in the Inquisivi Province to 250 Kilometers South west of city of La Paz.The objective of the field visit was to recognize metamorphic facies and ocurrence of industrials metamorphics minerals like garnet, andalusite and sillimanite, even the visit was only in surface. The round trip was made in two mini-buses since City of La Paz. Twenty six people participated in the field trip, the instructor Ramiro Matos, 2 professionals and 23 Students from the universities that teach Geology in Bolivia (La Paz, Oruro and Potosi). The Sponsor was CGB (Association of Geologist of Bolivia), and leader was Dr. Ramiro Matos
