Belize beat Bonaire for third place

PANAMA CITY, Panama, August 19, 2012. - Belize beat Bonaire 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-18) for the third place of the First Round Women’s 2014 World Championship Qualification Group G. In straight sets Belize finished in third place qualifying for the second round world qualifier that will take place next year. Belize took over the match from start to finish with a 6-4 advantage in blocking, while Bonaire had some good moments.

With 15 points Sherylee Young-Thurton was the best scorer for Belize and with 12 Lu-allen Sint Jago for Bonaire. “We came out to win and I’m happy for that but we weren’t able to keep the momentum, we didn´t challenge ourselves enough” said Shrylee Young-Thurton of Belize. The team captain of Bonaire, Claudette Van Arneman indicated “I’m proud of the results as this is the first time we compete internationally, now we know how we are and in which mistakes we must work on.” Allan Sharp coach for the winners expressed “it has been a journey of four years and today winning motivates us to continue practicing to be at a higher level as the rest of teams in Central America. I want to congratulate Bonaire because they did well. Leo Richardson said to be very satisfied with their performance in the tournament “I thought it was going to be a five setter but nervousness once again took the best of us and we still have much to learn.” Belize derrota a Bonaire por el tercer lugar CIUDAD DE PANAMA, Panamá, 19 de Agosto, 2012.- Belize derrotó a Bonaire 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-18) para llevarse el tercer lugar de la Primera Ronda Femenina Grupo G Clasificatoria al Campeonato Mundial 2014 de la FIVB. En sets seguidos Belize finaliza en tercer lugar y así clasifica a la segunda ronda mundialista que se desarrollará el próximo año. Belize tomó control del juego de principio a fin con una ventaja de 6-4 en bloqueo, mientras que Bonaire tuvo algunos buenos momentos. Con 15 puntos Sherylee Young-Thurton fue la mejor anotadora por Belize y con 12 Lu-Allen Sint Jago por Bonaire. “Venimos a ganar y por eso estoy contenta pero no supimos mantener el momentum, no nos esforzamos lo suficiente” dijo Shrylee Young-Thurton de Belize.

La capitana de Bonaire, Claudette Van Arnerman indicó “por ser esta nuestra primera vez que competimos a nivel internacional me siento muy orgullosa de los resultados, ahora sabemos cómo estamos y así poder trabajar en nuestras fallas para mejorar.” Allan Sharp entrenador del equipo ganador expresó “ha sido una trayectoria de cuatro años y ganar hoy nos motiva a continuar entrenando para estar a un nivel más alto como el resto de equipos de Centro América. PANAMA CITY, Panama, August 19, 2012. - Panama took the Gold Medal at the NORCECA First Round Women’s 2014 World Championship Qualification Group G, defeating El Salvador in the final match 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-11). Panama had in Captain Joanna Arroyo its best scorer with 13 points consisting in 10 spikes, 2 blocks and one in service; Yokhanny Comrie contributed with 10 points. Panama finished in first place undefeated. For El Salvador, Adriana

Flores scored the highest with 6 points. Both teams along with Belize earned the ticked for the second round to be played next year as the qualification phase road to Italy 2014 continues. Arroyo, who was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, expressed “we prepared well for this event and I want to thank you on behalf of my teammates the support of the crowd and our coach.” Adriana Flores of El Salvador indicated “we lacked confidence in our performance, I believe that we were too anxious to win; I congratulate Panama for their victory.” “Our preparation showed today, I want to thank my team for their excellent effort without leaving God aside” said Reynado Ortega. Panamá gana el Oro en el Grupo G

CIUDAD DE PANAMA, Panamá, 19 de agosto, 2012.- Panamá se llevó la medalla de Oro de la Primera Ronda Eliminatoria Femenina Grupo G de NORCECA rumbo al Campeonato Mundial 2014 de la FIVB, derrotando a El Salvador en el encuentro final por 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-11).

Panamá tuvo en su capitana Joanna Arroyo su máxima anotadora con 13 puntos consistentes en 10 ataques, 2 bloqueos y un punto de servicio; Yokhanny Comrie contribuyó con 10 puntos. Panamá finaliza en primer lugar de

forma invicta. Por El Salvador, Adriana Flores anotó el máximo con 6 puntos. Ambos equipos junto con Belize sellaron su boleto para la segunda ronda clasificatoria a jugarse el próximo año en tanto que la eliminatoria continúa rumbo a Italia 2014.
