    PRESSURE JET BURNERS

    1. Simple, Inexpensive and Robust

    2. No moving parts, Hence no possibility of seizure

    3. Large range of droplet size for one pressure

    4. Turndown ratio low, about 2.5 : 1

    5. Maximum throughput about 3200 kg/h

    6. No alteration in air register arrangements for all

    outputs

    7. To vary throughput the pressure must bealtered, this results in variation in droplet size,

hence atomization and combustion will be

    affected

    THE KBO PRESSURE JET BURNER

  • 7/31/2019 Boiler Module V

    7/23

    General

The KBO burner is a pressure jet burner of the mono-block type designed for

modulating operation. The design of the burner makes installation, adjustment and

servicing easy. Furthermore, it ensures that the flame is kept highly stable at all

    loads.

    Capacity range: 650 - 3500 kW

    Description

The KBO pressure jet burner is a robust design to meet the requirements in themarine environment. It is a reliable, fully automatic heavy fuel oil burner with only

    simple requirements to the installation.

The KBO burner is a mono-block design making installation cheap and quick due

to pre-wiring, pre-piping and pre-testing before leaving the factory. The burner is

provided with hinges for easy swing out for inspection and maintenance purposes.

Electric connections are easily accessed under the top cover. The burner is

designed to be operated with the computerized MISSION Control System from

    Aalborg Industries.

    STEAM/AIR BLAST JET PRESSURE

    BURNERS

    1. A wide Turndown range while still adhering to the simple pressure jet

    principle of atomization.

    2. Single valve control of oil supply and avoidance of the use of spill back or

other complicated systems of fuel metering

    3. Quick reversion to the conventional pressure jet atomizer when steam or air

is not available.4. Improved atomization over the complete range resulting in quicker cleaner

    combustion

    5. Higher overall combustion efficiency offsetting the use of assisting steam

    energy for atomization

    6. Complete stability over the range including the extended range at low oilpressure and low air velocities

    7. Complete absence of any interaction between the steam and oil flows which

simplifies the control of each fluid and the adaptation of the atomizer to

    automatic control

    KBSD STEAM ATOMIZING BURNER

  • 7/31/2019 Boiler Module V

    12/23

    General

The KBSD steam atomizing burner is designed for use on our top-fired boilers

and is delivered pre-mounted. A dynamic wind-box provides for low pressure loss

and a stable combustion at low loads. All burner mountings are arranged to ensure

easy installation and maintenance.Capacity range: 1.7 46.6 MW

    Description

The KBSD steam atomizing burner has been designed to meet customer

requirements such as high turn-down radio, minimum installation and operation

costs, and the capability to produce inert gas at low loads. Furthermore, the burnermeets future marine environmental legislation regarding NOx and particulate

    emissions.

Combustion processes are controlled by adjusting the swirl angle of the air flow,

enhanced by very reliable system components controlling the fuel air flow. The

KBSD burner has passed a rigorous and very extensive testing program, proving

that the burner performs well on all grades of fuel oil.

Additionally, the burner design has made it possible to achieve stable combustion

with an excess air ratio of approx. 1.15. Safe ignition of the burner is ensured by the

fixed ignition burner which is equipped with its own ignition transformer, oil pump and

nozzle. During operation of the main burner, the ignition burner is purged with air in

Order to prevent coke formation on the nozzle and the electrodes.

    ROTARYCUPBURNERS

    1. High output possible

    2. Low oil supply pressure.

    3. At low throughputs, atomization due to reduced oil

    film thickness is improved

    4. Wide turndown ratio up to 20:1

    5. Oil viscosity need only be reduced to about

    satisfactory operation.

    KB ROTARY CUP BURNER

  • 7/31/2019 Boiler Module V

    18/23

    General

The operation of the KB rotary cup burner is automatic, simple and reliable, also when fired with

a combination of fuels as is often the case. The design is compact and the burners easy to

    maintain.

    Capacity range: 1.9 38 MW, 170 3,400 kg/h

    Description

The KB rotary cup burner has been designed to meet customer requirements such as reliable operation, easy

maintenance and minimum installation requirements. The design is based on Aalborg Industries long-term

experience in marine boilers and combustion technology, ensuring optimum burner performance for demanding

customers. The working principle of rotary cup burners is based on atomising by centrifugal force. The atomising cup is driven

at high speed via a heavy-duty belt drive. The oil is gently positioned at low pressure into the spinning cup where

gradually, and forced by the centrifugal action of the cup, it moves forward until it is thrown off the cup rim as a

    Very fine, uniform film.

The high-velocity primary air discharged around the cup strikes the oil film, breaks it up and converts it into a mist

of fine particles which are introduced into the combustion zone and burner. The secondary air necessary for

Complete combustion is supplied by a forced-draught fan through the wind box and burner air register. Normally, atomizing is effected at a viscosity of approx. 45 cSt. which ensures a particle size small enough to burn quickly

    and completely.

Heavy fuel oil fired rotary cup burner The KB burner is a typical rotary cup burner with combustion air according

to the forced draught fan location principle. Larger burners of types KB 16003400 have a separate primary air

fan that receives its air supply from the forced draught fan.
