BOIDIER HURST SCOUT CAMP SITE - Conditions of use

The Boider Hurst Management Committee requires the person signing the booking form as Camp Leader to take responsibility for ensuring that all adults invited onto site have a valid Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) clearance.

a. The rules of the Site must be observed at all times. Failure to comply may lead to expulsion from the Site by either the duty warden or a member of the management committee.

b. Drive carefully when using the access from Box Hill Road to the Site - this is a bridleway and provides access to other properties. Vehicles must be driven SLOWLY, especially past the stables.

c. Boidier Hurst will not accept liability for damage, loss or theft of campers or visitors property from the site.

d. When young campers are on Site without a Leader for say a patrol camp, the name and telephone number of an adult responsible for them must be given to the warden. The adult must be able to attend site at short notice if needed.

e. Vehicles are not allowed on the numbered camping sites.

Site Rules

1. Scout and Guide members must arrive in correct uniform.

2. Campers and all visitors must report to the Warden on arrival and departure from site.

3. ONLY unloading and loading may be carried out on the main track adjacent to individual sites at the discretion of the Warden. Vehicles must be returned to the car park immediately.

4. Pits must not be dug. Dirty water must be filtered through buckets, (available from the Warden). Natural filter material is to be used then burnt or removed from site and disposed of with normal rubbish.

5. All rubbish to be removed from site. Details of a local disposal site are displayed on noticeboard.

6. Altar fires or slab bases must be used for open fires. No turfs are to be cut. Open fires must be of a controlled size and not left unattended.

7. Growing timber must not be cut or damaged.

8. Do not waste electricity, gas, water or wood.

9. No washing up is to be done at water taps or in the toilet block Use the outside washing up area behind the toilet block.

10. The cleanliness of the toilets is the responsibility of all campers. Where more than one group is on site a cleaning rota will be established by the Warden.

11. To protect the function of the septic tank, chemical toilets are not allowed.

12. The use of motor cycles, go-karts, cycles, guns, catapults, archery and fireworks is prohibited on Site.

13. Noise to be kept to a minimum between 22:30 h and 07:00h.

14. All accidents must be reported to the Warden and recorded in the accident book at Royden House.

15. Dogs are not encouraged. If they are temporarily on site, they must be on a lead and any mess cleared up.

16. If Headley Heath is to be used for activities, the National Trust Warden must be told (Tel: 01372 375552) and the National Trust rules respected.

17. Before departure, the site used and/or the Manly Building MUST be inspected by the warden or a member of the Management Committee.
