TRADITIONAL GENERES OF MUSIC IN
OLTENIA REGION
MADE by
Bocetul- it represents the mourn of dead people by the music, being a way to relief a moral pain. In essence, the bocet is lirical. In the region of Oltenia, the type of bocet is the one with a free form. It is characterized by a metarial sound with a low number of words, speaking and syllabic form, descendant profile and a progressive going, parlando rhythm.
Doina- lirical melodically style, with an open form. In the region of Oltenia, long, mourn, nature, arrant song. The main themes: alienation, separation from someone, nature relation, love. Theme has an unitary character that includes the variety and the diversity.
Cantecul zorilor ( the dawn song)- it is known like a funeral ceremony song. It is interpreted by a female group at the corner of the house, with the faces headed towards the sunrise. It is performed in the two mornings when the dead person is still in the house. It dominates the sound structures with a low number of words.
Haulitul- spring habbit spreaded in Oltenia, sung by children. In terms of music, it is characterized by the special way of chest vowel emision. The sound structure which is based on, contains harmonica notes 3, 4 and 5 or 4,5 and 6. The rythm is made by simple formula. The architectural form if free, structured on 2 sections.
Cantecul de dragoste ( the love song)- )- “Love” differs from other musical types by being free, giving a number of formula to the singer who use them how he wants and likes. For this song it is typical the speeding of the ambitus, the very long distance between the extreme notes or from the highest note to the lowest.
Colind- is a musical genre representative for the winter period. The name of colind comes from Greek Kalendae and from slave Koleda. The habit take place over 2,3 days, in the afternoon of 24 december or around the New Year. The oldest carols are "colindele laice" which indirectly shows aspects of work and family life. Carol interpretation in Oltenia is Instrumental-voice.
Cantecul de stea- differs from carol by theme related to the religious aspect and culturated origin. The texts are adapted to religious songs, in Oltenia they sing folk tunes.Cantecul de stea doesn't have a chorus,the lyrics are grupated in stanzas. Nowadays those songs are interpreted of children in Christmas Eve.
Urarea cu plugusorul- It's made by children and adults. The child one it's made on a complex rhythms and simple melodies.The lyrics are humorous.It's announced by the plugusor the start of the land working and make predictions on wealth.
Scaloianul- spring habit in the category of rain call,practiced by kids in time of drought in Oltenia,a piece of a culture dedicated to god made to die into a ritual resurrection,having its echo in Greek god's culture,Adonis, Attis,as well as the couple Adonis-Afrodita. In terms of music the habit is adopted by the mourn music.
Cantecul bradului- It is sung in the onor of fir-tree by women outside the village,at it's going to diseased house. The sounds structures include a small number of words. The melodical profile is descendant within a vers. On melodical rhythms it could be mixt or ascending. The architectural form is fix being made by two\for lines.
