The work session that had been scheduled for March 16 has been changed to a regular board meeting. The timeline for swearing in new members has also changed. We have reached out to the county clerk's office for guidance to share with board members about the process.

FSPSPARTNERSWITHCROSSWALKMARKETINGToday,CrosswalkMarketingGrouppresentedacheckformorethan$16,000totheFortSmithPublicSchoolsTransportationdivision.Thismoneyisdesignatedtosupportimportantsafetyinitiativesforthedistrict’s87tripandroutebuses.ArkansasAct941providestheopportunitytogenerateextrarevenueforschooldistricttransportationdepartmentsthroughoutthestate.FSPSwillusetheseadditionaldollarstopromotepositivemessagesforandaboutdistrictstudentsandtheirteachers.Thecheckrepresents60percentofthenetsponsorshiprevenue.Dr.DougBrubaker,FortSmithPublicSchoolsSuperintendent,said,“Ensuringandpromotingstudentsafetyandstudentachievementareimportantprioritiesforourdistrict.Wearegratefulforthesupportofoursponsors.Theyarehelpingtodisseminateimportantandpositivemessagesaboutourstudents,schools,andprogramsthroughtheirinvestmentsinthisbusadvertisingprogram.”CurrentprojectsponsorsincludeABB,ArvestBank,BaptistHealthSystems,CentennialBank,FirstNationalBank,HarryRobinsonBuickGMC,Sam'sClub,andUAFS.FSPStransportationwillreinvestthismoneytoenhanceandimprovesafetyonbuses.Thesedollarscouldbeusedtopurchaseadditionalcamerastoassistwithbussupervision.Districtrepresentativesarealsolookingintothecostofcollisionavoidancewarningsystemspurchasedbyotherdistrictswhoalsousethisextrarevenuestream.Accordingtothelaw,thesefundscanbeusedtoprovideaddeddrivereducation,andtocoverbusmaintenanceexpensesaswell.ASBA2020SCHOLARSHIPAWARDPROGRAMTheASBAEducationalFoundationiscurrentlyseekingapplicationsforthe2020ScholarshipAwardProgram.TheFoundationhasawardedcollegescholarshipstochildrenofArkansasschoolboardmemberssince1994.Theawardsarebasedonastudent’sacademicrecordandleadershippotential.
