SILVER STAROur Silver Star for July is the amazing Myrtle Huebinger! She works at the front deskon Tuesday mornings and has done this for 15 years. However, Myrtle actually startedworking at the Silver Center when it first opened in 1993. She is one of those volunteerswho goes where there is a need and has been known to work the Friday night dances. An interesting tidbit about her, is that she was the 27th person to sign up as a memberof the Silver Center, and she still has her membership card!

Myrtle was born at home in Guadalupe County near Geronimo. She has lived in Seguinall her life except for 2 years right after she married. They moved to San Antonio, butmoved back to Geronimo, her hometown, as quickly as she could. She married Ernoon September 12, 1945, and they were married 65 wonderful years before Erno passedaway. The two of them had 4 children. Her family has grown to 6 grandchildren and

5 great-grandchildren.

Ms. Huebinger’s main hobby is her garden. She grows flowers and if you have ever been by her house, her gardens arebeautiful! Lots of color, variety, and sweet smells. Although she no longer travels, she has been to Europe and Alaskatwice, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and the Panama Canal.

Myrtle has spent her whole life volunteering. In fact, she considers volunteering as one of her hobbies. She has been amember of the Ladies Aid at Emanuel Lutheran Church for 50 years and the Clear Springs Extension Education Associationsince 1949. When the Silver Center first opened, she organized several rummage sales and helped put a cookbook togetherfor the center. She helped out at the Red Barn between Seguin and Navarro for several years and at the Guadalupe CountyFair Baked Goods Event for 30 years. Myrtle was even Director of the County Fair for a while.

Now, she has slowed down a bit, which is well-deserved, and enjoys playing Bunco and 42 (a domino game) at the SilverCenter. Myrtle believes the Silver Center is a wonderful place for Seguin. That was why she joined when it began and shebelieves strongly in it today. If you come by the center on Tuesday, please stop by and say hello to Myrtle Huebinger. Sheis friendly and helpful and can probably answer any question you may have about the Silver Center or even Seguin.

Thank you to the vendors of the Silver Center who sponsored Taste of Seguin. There were 17 vendors andtheir support was phenomenal! Thank you also to our amazing judges. It was a great success!
