A word from the President

Merry Christmas Northside members! You are officially a member for the

2015-2016 year if you are getting the newsletter in the mail. Hope every-

one has their sleds ready! Mine sleds are not. The trails are ready to go

and snow is on its way. As always if you see problems on the trail like

trees down or a landowner’s property damaged please give myself or any

board member a call so we can take care of it. With a couple of properties

being sold this year we do have a couple of new landowners. Fortunately,

they are ok with us using their property to ride. Be sure to wave when you

see a landowner out in there yard. It was great to see some of you at the

Christmas party. We had a good time as always. A huge thanks to Kim for

setting up the venue. Kim also has a couple more activities planed for this

year so be sure to check her article for details. I want to thank everyone

that was involved in helping TJ get the trails ready for the season. Thanks

to Al, most of the road crossings have road names at them this year. Tom,

Larry and Don were the work horses of the club as always.

Have a great Christmas and safe New Year see you on the trail very soon.

Hope everyone is ready to get out and ride for the New Year, looks like it

might be a slow start but the snow will come! It is very important we respect

our Landowners as we always have! Without them and their generosity letting

us ride on their land there would be no Northside Snowmobile Club for us to

us and enjoy. Remember that we need 4 inches of Good snow and frozen

ground to have our trails to be open.

A lot of you know me but for those that don’t I am one of the guys in the re-

flective vests you will see out on the trail. Occasionally Larry Crandall will

put one on when he is not in Florida and our President Terry will too. If you

see any of us out on the trail feel free to flag us down if you need anything or

just want to say “HI”. Everyone on the Board enjoys talking with our club

members. I think it is a good idea for you to keep our phone numbers handy

with you when you are riding in case you have any problems or see something

that needs attention all of our phone numbers are on the front of the newslet-

ter. I don’t use Facebook but others in the club do so you can post there if you

see any issues.

Every year it seems the question of trail permits comes up. I, as trail patrol for

the club I am only looking for your Northside Sticker to make sure you are a

member– The State of Michigan is looking for your state trail permit. Keep

that in mind as you head out they can be out on our trails and they can and will

ticket you for not having it. I don’t think they were on snowmobiles last year

but they did sit at some road crossing and watch for trail permits.

Have a good time out there and remember to be courteous and ride safe!!

In cold and snowy Februarys, members of the North-

side Snowmobile Club load up their sleds and travel

to the Clear Lake Camp for the Lions Winter Week-

end for the Blind. There, they give attendees

snowmobile rides. Willing participants are either

taken up behind the rider or loaded into a sleigh for a

ride around the camp or, as in previous years, for a

spin on the lake. A good time is had by all, but the

riders all say one thing about their passengers – they

want to go fast! The Lions Weekend for the Blind in

2016 is February 5th – 7th.
