PROTECTIVE CLOTHING
• Workers shall wear high visible clothing (retro reflectivematerial) engaged in work on site at boys and girls club.
• Garments should be worn properly, meaning they shouldbe the right size for the person wearing it.Vests and jackets should be kept closed on the front and sides toensure visibility from 360 degrees.
• Garments should be kept in good, clean condition andreplaced when worn or dirty so as to preclude theirfunction as high
visibility clothing.
HEAD PROTECTION
• Be sure that workers wear hard hats where there is a potential for objects falling from above, bumps to theirheads from fixed objects, or accidental head contact onsite.
• Hard hats are routinely inspected for dents, cracks or deterioration before workers go out to site.
• Hard hats are replaced after a heavy blow or electricalshock at (time of accident).
• Hard hats must maintain in good condition.(weekly check will be in play before work).
EYES AND FACE PROTECTION
• Safety glasses or face shields are worn anytime work operations can cause foreign objects geting into the eyesuch as during welding, cutting, grinding, nailing (or whenworking with concrete and/or harmful chemicals or whenexposed to flying particles.
• Eye and face protectors are selected based on anticipated hazards.(face protectors will be used when burningwood.)
• Safety glasses or face shields are worn when exposed toany electrical hazards including work on energized electrical systems.
FOOT PROTECTION
• Construction workers should wear work shoes or bootswith slip-resistant and puncture-resistant soles.
• Safety-toed footwear is worn to prevent crushed toeswhen working around power tools or falling objects fromabove shade structures.
HAND PROTECTION
• Workers must wear the right gloves for the job heavy-duty rubber
gloves for concrete work and insulated gloves.
• All gloves must t tight to prevent any damage to hands from machin
ery or mishandling tools.
LADDERS
• Make sure that ladders are long enough to safely reachthe top of shade structures.
• Mark or tag (“Do Not Use”) damaged or defective ladders for repair or replacement, or destroy them immediately.
• Never load ladders beyond the maximum intended loador beyond the manufacturer’s rated capacity.
• Be sure the load rating can support the weight of theuser, including materials and tools.
• Avoid using ladders with metallic components near electrical work and overhead power lines.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
• Us e only lockout/tagou t devices authorized for the particular equipment or machinery and ensure that they are durable, standardized, and substantial.
• Frayed, damaged or worn electrical cords or cables arepromptly replaced.
• All extension cords have grounding prongs.
• Protect flexible cords and cables from damage. Sharpcorners and projections should be
avoided.
• Use extension cord sets used with portable electric toolsand appliances that are the three-wire type
• Overhead electrical power lines are located and identified
• wire type and designed for hard or extra-hard service.(Look for some of the following letters imprinted on thecasing: S, ST, SO, STO.).
• All electrical tools and equipment are maintained in safecondition, checked regularly for defects, and taken out ofservice if a defect is found.
• Do not bypass any protective system or device designedto protect employees from contact with electrical energy.
• Ensure that ladders, scaffolds, equipment or materialsnever come within 10 feet ofelectrical power lines.
• All electrical tools must be properly grounded unlessthey are of the double insulated type.
