This engaging format was developed by our new advertising agency TBWA (see page 17) and our aim is to make this a full blown digital magazine with articles and facts that will keep you informed and entertained along the way.

Inside every issue you’ll find the latest news, views and happenings within our Bank of Africa family, but we cannot do this without you – we would love to know what is on your mind and keeping you busy so we can fill the INsider with interesting stories from all over the Bank.

A message from the M.D

s we get close to the end of the first half of the year,

I deem it appropriate to challenge ourselves to deliver what we promised to deliver. It is challenging and not easy. There are huge obstacles and events that you did not anticipate. But that is still no reason to give up. We must be determined to Own, Execute and Review to deliver Our very best. I am confident that at the end of the day, we will win.

So far, despite the challenges to increase our deposits, we are on course with our profit targets. Our year to date profit is TZS 1.734 billion against a budget of TZS 1.561 billion. However on deposits we are far behind, with actuals of TZS 255 billion against a budget of TZS 265 billion. We are also short of advances by TZS 5 billion. We have not also done well on recoveries since recoveries year to

date with impact on P&L is nil. We have to do our very best to increase our deposits, sell the new products, embrace change, reduce our cost and please our customers with the best service. If we do this we will surely win.

The short video clip (we showed at the staff meeting) on doing our very best is part of a movie entitled, “Facing The Giants”. I would like to encourage you to get the movie and

watch in your own time. I believe they will be a lot of lessons for you as an individual as you face your own giants of this world.

Let me end my short chat by quoting from the movie. I also encourage you to also send one quote that you like most from the movie.

- Ammish Owusu-Amoah

A message from the M.D

“I want God to bless this team so much people will talk about what He did. But it means we gotta give Him our best in every area. And if we win, we praise Him. And if we lose, we praise Him. Either way we honor Him with our actions and our attitudes. So I’m askin’ you... What are you living for? I resolve to give God everything I’ve got, then I’ll leave the results up to Him. I want to know if you’ll join me”.

“You can’t win … games if you don’t play together as a team! … If we’re not here to win …, then WHY ARE WE HERE?”

BANK OF AFRICA\TBWA

We are happy to announce that BANK OF AFRICA will be working with hot new agency TBWA\Tanzania on advertising and communications in 2013. After an extensive selection process the agency proved to be the best choice to help us with a fresh approach to communication that will take our brand to the next level in Tanzania.

We started the collaboration in April and are looking forward to a long term relationship that will start bearing fruit in the near future.

A first example of the ‘fruits’ of this relationship is the new campaign for our VUNA account, see below, and coming up soon will be the exciting launch of our 19th branch in Mtwara.

TBWA\ and BANK OF AFRICA are working closely together on all our communications so keep your eyes peeled for more exciting work.
