2015 BMWMCCACT Club Member Survey
• The Commi8ee invited members to answer a survey seeking to idenAfy and quanAfy what members wanted of the Club.
• The survey was open for ~1 month for members to respond to.

• At 31 August 2015 the Club had 112 memberships and 145 members.
• The survey email went to 108 members, as some members choose to disable email noAficaAons from the Club.
• 75 members opened the survey, 43 clicked through it and 27 answered it.

• Okay we had 27 respondents and 50 bikes; that’s not to bad. It looks like a lot of us have opAons on what to ride and where we want to ride it.
• The Club does have S and K sport bike owners, who were out riding for the survey. • We have a good spread of models and much like BMW’s global sales a weighAng
towards R series air, oil and wet heads.

• We like sealed back roads less travelled but are not averse to finding some dirt or using the highway.
• A smaller group are looking for dirt or that more challenging off road experience. • The What’s On calendar of events aims to cater for all tastes. But you can nominate a
ride to a locaAon of your choosing. This doesn't mean leading or even organising, but that would be nice.

• A clear majority or respondents are looking for day rides of 200km maximum one way. This would include Canberra to Wagga, Temora, Bombala, Narooma, Nowra and Oberon and return.
• There is also a smaller group happy for overnight rides, mulAday and extended rides. • The Club’s ‘Iron Bu8’ sub-‐group were out training, but are there.

• We don’t really care where we go on our 400km return day ride, but happy to see/do something once we get there.
• There was no strong preference for community, joint rides or rallying with/to other motorcycle clubs or events. Although some members do support the MRA Christmas and Black Dog runs. Will we see you at the German Auto Day?

• Okay we want to ride 200km, have lunch, see or do something and then ride home. • Presumably those who like a >400km overnight ride want to stay indoors. A smaller
group will camp and all of us would like a choice of accommodaAon opAons in deciding whether we go on a ride.

Do you have any other comments or Ideas you would like to share…
From the Commi9ee
ü I would like recogniAon for Club Person of the Year for those members who a8end the weekly meeAngs as per the web site at Bungendore. There are five to ten regular members who turnip each week
Ø Whilst some members choose to have a private social ride to Bungendore for breakfast, this is no longer a Club Event and was removed from the website and calendar >12 months ago. As such, a8endance is ineligible for Club Person of the Year points.
ü I would love to have more Ame to ride. That is the main reason why I don't get out and about enough.
ü Unfortunately overcommi8ed with other acAviAes.
ü I am in between bikes at present, I have just sold a GS. Being fi8ed out for more off-‐road, I was unwilling to go on long road rides. I am looking at a new bike and hoping to go on more club rides.
Ø Not to much we can do about members other commitments, but keep an eye on What’s On for an event that suits your personal calendar.
ü With the kids being 9 and 12 chances of me parAcipaAng in a lot of club events is limited but I think that the commi8ee is doing a good job. A return to joint events with BMWTC of NSW would be good
Ø Thanks for the vote of support. The Club will invesAgate a joint event with the BMWTCNSW. Early invesAgaAons suggest a lunch in the Southern Highlands or overnight ride to the Bathurst region. The President & Ride Coordinator has contacted the BMWTCNSW.
ü Sunday breakfast not meeAngs. There are a large number of reAred members and most prefer to ride weekdays when it is quieter on the roads. A good example is the Co8er loop on a Saturday or Sunday
ü I hate early morning rides during the Winter. Rides/AcAviAes should not start before 9.30am and preferably not before 10.00am.
Ø 4 of 5 Commi8ee members sAll work. Club members are encouraged to organise rides that suit them and send details to the Ride Coordinator who can email members and/or include them to the What’s On calendar.
Ø The intenAon of the early monthly breakfast meeAngs is to allow a day ride aier. Some winter meeAngs have been programmed for a 12pm start, slightly further out of Canberra to include a ride there and home. These haven’t resulted in any more members a8ending. Different, but not more.

I would really like the Club to... From the Commi9ee ü ConAnue to provide informaAon on products, accessories
and items of interest -‐ the Newsle8er already does this. Technical informaAon as appropriate and good day rides (for my preferred rides).
Ø Members can post informaAon to the website and Club ‘blog’ as well as pictures. This funcAonality is not a Wild Apricot strongpoint, however for those on Facebook have a look and consider joining the Club Group.
ü Keep the regular rides going. At this stage I am sAll working and thus am oien not available.
ü I enjoy the overnight rides most
ü Day or weekend rides to somewhere interesAng
ü An outback tour not between Nov to June
ü As you do, when I can.
ü I just purchased a GS as there was not many rides for my K.
Ø Join the Commi8ee majority, who will conAnue to plan day, overnight and mulA-‐night rides.
Ø If your not seeing a ride of your liking then email the Ride Coordinator with a suggesAon.
