The need for safety everywhere is growing by the day in industrialized countries like America and

in Europe. This growing demand for safety is clear in sports such as skiing and snowboarding, as

well as in cycling. Just a few years ago, a skier wearing a helmet on the piste was looked on as an

oddity, while today 80% of skiers and snowboarders wear them. Helmeted cyclists are a common

sight these days, and some countries already prescribe them by law. Every day millions of people

run the risk of drowning, without suitable preventive measure being taken. Every year, the OECD

nations see more than 4,000 children drown, making it the second most common cause of

accidental death among children. Despite the number of accidents compared to other leisure and

sporting activities, there are virtually no safety systems in place. The currently applied method is

observation by a pool attendant or lifeguard. But factors such as fatigue, distraction, a poor

overall view and noise may cause the attentiveness of the observer to waver, ultimately leading to

lapses in safety. What's more, to justify costs, attendants and lifeguards are often given additional

tasks.

SWISS MADE TECHNOLOGY FOR SAFETY

According to statistics from the International Life Saving Federation (www.ilsf.org), every year 1.2 million people

die due to drowning around the globe. That's more than two every minute. Many of these tragic accidents happen

in public swimming pools and private pools. Contrary to general opinion, most victims of drowning are not non-

swimmers; in fact, the largest section is made up of practised swimmers. Children frequently see how long they

can hold their breath under water, thereby placing themselves in danger of drowning. The lack of oxygen can lead

to unconsciousness and death in the water. An exaggerated opinion of abilities and medical problems such as

epilepsy, heart problems or illness can have tragic consequences in a swimming pool if they are not noticed in

time.

Ensuring swimmingremains a fun andrelaxing sport...

BlueFox is both an active and a passive system

BlueFox is a unique pool safety system from Switzerland that helps you to avoid accidents involving drowning and near-

drowning. and only sets off an alarm when certain conditions are

identified. The innovative technology allows you to determine these conditions yourself, avoiding unnecessary false alarms,

for example. The key to the system is a monitoring bracelet worn in active mode by everyone using the pool. The computer

measures both the depth and the time under water by constantly measuring the distance between the swimmer and the

water's surface. The distance can be set to between 5 and 125 cm and as soon as a swimmer goes below the programmed

depth, a stopwatch begins to count the seconds. This can be set to anywhere between 5 and 95 seconds. As soon as the pre-

set interval expires, the monitoring bracelet sends an ultrasonic signal that is detected by a receiving sensor installed in the

water. This in turn is connected to an alarm unit that triggers both an acoustic and visual alarm.

How Blue Fox works:

All swimmers wearing a monitoring bracelet (switched to active mode) are monitored by the BlueFox system. By

the way, the monitoring bracelets are not coded to any one sensor, but can be used in any pool equipped with the

system. The monitoring bracelet itself is also designed to be absolutely safe.

A warning on the monitoring bracelet appears whenever the battery falls below 50% power, which takes

around three months at approx. three hours usage under water per day.

It switches off automatically after 30 seconds if the monitoring bracelet is not moved. Touching it gently

switches it straightaway into standby mode.

The monitoring bracelet switches on automatically on contact with water.

The adjustable individual values can be trans-

ferred from a PC to the monitoring bracelet.

You decide the conditions that trigger the alarm. With BIueFox Control software, you can set the

tolerated depth and time under water yourself, and transfer them from your PC to the monitoring

bracelet.

All you have to do is download the free software from our website, connect the monitoring bracelet

with the adapter and a USB cable to your PC and you can choose when the alarm is triggered by

setting depth (5 - 125 cm) and duration (5 - 95 seconds). At the click of a mouse you can also

select one of the five pre-set values depending on the swimmer's age and ability.

Many hotel pools have no full-time lifeguard and permanent monitoring of

swimmers cannot be guaranteed in many cases. Public

swimming pools are also aware of the problem. Besides

keeping watch at the edge of the pool, swimming pool

attendants and lifeguards have a great deal of other

tasks to perform as well, meaning that swimmers

are frequently under no observation.

BIueFox provides an affordable way

of raising safety in hotel pools,

wellness complexes and public

The alarm unit produces an optical and an acoustic alarm, which can

be forwarded to existing alarm systems or radio receivers.

Depending on the size and shape of the observed pool, additional

sensors send information to the sensor control unit (SCU).

Depending on your pool's design, BlueFox has individual solutions for mounting

the underwater sensors.
