Eutelsat’s new 21B satellite was launched in November2012 to 21.5 degrees East, where it has replacedEUTELSAT 21A, launched in 1999.Over the past decade, 21.5 degrees East has become amajor orbital position for data, professional video andgovernment services across Europe, North Africa, theMiddle East and Central Asia.EUTELSAT 21B offers significantly increased capacity(40 Ku-band transponders versus 29 on 21A) andimproved power and coverage.In addition to an enhanced wide-beam across Europeinto North Africa and Central Asia, the satellite alsofeatures two dedicated high power beams coveringNorth-West Africa and the Middle East/Central Asia.

Yamal-402 satellite is in the orbital position 55°E.There are twelve and sixteen standard Ku-band 72 MHz and 54 MHz transpondersrespectively and eighteen planned Ku-band 36 MHz transponders installed on thesatellite. Therefore, the total Yamal-402 capacity is 46 transponders or 66 equivalent 36MHz transponders.Satellite antennas form four fixed beams: Russian, Northern, European, Southern, andone steerable beam. Planned frequency bands (eighteen 36 MHz transponders) are usedin Russian beam, which exactly contours the Russian borders. There are additional four54 MHz transponders with standard frequency bands operating in Russian beam.
From nine to twelve 72 MHz transponders are operating in wider Northern beam which covers the visible part ofRussia, CIS countries, almost all Europe and part of Middle East.Four 54 MHz transponders are operating in European beam, which covers East and Central Europe, Middle Eastand Northern Africa. Eight 54 MHz transponders are operating in wide Southern beam, which covers the territoryof Africa to the south of Sahara. Up to three 72 MHz transponders can operate in the beam formed by the antenna,which can be steered with the commands from the earth while the satellite is in service.There is a possibility of inter-beam connection of Southern beam with Russian and European, and Northern beamwith a steerable beam.
C-Band since the start of the commercial satellite communication business the C Band remain the safe but mostexpensive satellite frequency that customers can use for communications in the most harsh environments and in thevery high rainfall. SCPC Solution Single channel per carrier (SCPC) refers to using a singlesignal at a given frequency and bandwidth. Most often, this is used onbroadcast satellites to indicate that radio stations are not multiplexed assubcarriers onto a single video carrier, but instead independently share atransponder. It may also be used to provide internet and transmit data.In other words an SCPC system, satellite bandwidth is dedicated to a singlesource.

DVB/ SCPC The forward (downstream) channel takesadvantage of the DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting)multiplex – a very high speed data stream containing datapackets from a number of individual smaller data streams.The return channel (upstream) works on the basis of themore classical SCPC (Single Channel per Carrier). UnlikeSCPC/SCPC, this solution enables connectivity based onthe allocated bandwidth from a large pool of bandwidths;hence the connectivity will be based on a dynamic SCPCrather than a point to point
