OFFICIAL OPENING NIGHT
A full house of members and guests attended at the club to
see The Lord Smith of Hindhead CBE make the official open-
ing of the new look club on Saturday 1st April and unveiled
the brass plaque kindly donated by Harris Brothers.
He paid tribute to the work of the committee and officers
and thanked all of them and the members for turning around the fortunes of the
club over the past three years and taking the club in a new exciting direction.
He said how immensely proud he was as he “drove up and saw the new sign”
PORTSMOUTH CONSERVATIVE CLUB
He was grateful that the committee had taken this step, realising that a viable future
could only be achieved by expanding the scope and ambitions of the Club and he
urged all members now to show their pride in the club by introducing new members,
as this was the key to long term success. Club chair Carol Rymes thanked Lord Smith
and Dave Harris of Harris Brothers Contracting Services Ltd (main contractors) for
taking the time to visit the club, all members for attending and the executive com-
mittee for their continuing support. Following the official opening, the members and
guests enjoyed champagne supplied by Tolchards Ltd and a wonderful buffet served
by Sheila, Gill and Paula.
