Task 1: Please read the PowerPoint about earthquakes that is saved in our Natural Disasters folder on Teams.The website of the British Geological Survey (www.earthquakes.bgs.ac.uk) provides details of recent earthquakes in Britain and around the world. Look at the map showing the earthquakes around the British Isles in the last 50 days. What is the closest earthquake to where you live? Where did the earthquake happen? When did the earthquake occur? How strong was the quake? Use the worksheet attached to complete the task. Extension task – research where was the biggest earthquake to have happened recently in the world?

Task 2: Areas around the world that may be affected by earthquakes on a regular basis need to think about earthquake proofing when designing houses and buildings. Your tasks is to design a building that is earthquake proof! Look at the worksheets attached to the overview to help you with your design. Good luck!
