We are learning to answer literal and inferential questions about a text. We are learning to spell adjectives that describe feelings. We are learning to create an imaginative story using exciting language to engage the reader. We are learning to use paragraphs to structure our writing. Task: Reading Comprehension & Listening and Talking Reading Challenge Read for enjoyment for at least 20 minutes each day Read – Usain Bolt and then answer the comprehension questions in your ‘work- from-home’ jotter or use the worksheet provided. Spicy: Read: The ‘Fact or Opinion’ Reading Challenge Card Retrieve and record information/ identify key details. Identify whether the statement is fact or opinion. Extend the task by justifying your choices. We have shared sentence starters to get you started this week. This week’s wow words are adjectives which describe feelings. Practice these words using a spelling task from your ‘work from home’ jotter. Discus these with a family member/ guardian and record these in your jotter. Have a parent quiz you on the spelling of these words and record your score. You may wish to use some of your spelling words to improve and enhance your story. Task: The Old Railroad Using the image ‘The Old Railroad ‘create an exciting story using adjectives and adverbs to set the scene. Structure your writing into 3 parts. There should be a clear beginning, middle and end. As we learned last term, we should introduce a new paragraph for each new idea (part of our story). Using the story starter your story may wish to consider: What might have happened on June 11th, 1911? What stories have their fathers told them? Who is sitting around the campfire? Why are they out in the woods? What is the noise that they have heard? Was it part of their imaginations, or something more sinister? Remember to use the ‘wow words’ which you have been learning to improve and up level you writing. Also remember to proof read your writing to ensure quality and excitement for the reader. We would like you to upload your writing using the assignment tab on Teams. We are learning to use appropriate vocabulary to describe the likelihood of events occurring We are learning to use the life experiences of myself and others to guide me. You will need: Glass (tall and clear if possible)/Smaller cups (x3 at least - to mix the sugar solutions)/Water/Sugar/Food Colouring/Teaspoon/Syringe or Dropper/Stirrer

NumeracyMental Arithmetic Core Learning Science : Rainbow in a glass

We are learning to improve our problem solving skills.

We are learning to use appropriate vocabulary to describe the likelihood of events occurring

You will need:Glass (tall and clear if possible)/Smaller cups (x3 at least - to mix the sugar

solutions)/Water/Sugar/Food Colouring/Teaspoon/Syringe or Dropper/Stirrer

Process:1. Pour 50ml of water into each small cup.2. Put 1 teaspoonful of sugar into cup 1, then 2 teaspoonful’s of

sugar into cup 2, then 3 teaspoonful’s of sugar into cup 3 and so on.

3. Then use your stirrer to mix them all up. 4. Add your different food colouring to your different cups and

mix well. 5. Take your tall, clear glass and using the syringe/dropper

starting with the cup with the most teaspoonful’s of sugar, transport some of your solution into your tall, clear glass.

6. Then move onto the cup with the 2nd most teaspoonful’s of sugar, using the syringe/dropper transport some of your solutions into the tall, clear glass.

7. Repeat until you have transports solution from all of your small cups into the tall, clean glass.

Please complete the ‘Unit 25’ Numeracy Problem Solving Sheet (provided).

8. Take a picture of your results and post them on Microsoft Personal Project:- Our Local Area (Buildings) Health and Wellbeing

We are learning to create art piece inspired by a famous artist.We are learning to use shading, tone and colour to create an attractive illustration

We are learning to identify positive activities which we look forward to participating and being involved in in

the future. We can reflect on the things which make us happy.

James Rizzi- Building ArtJames Rizzi is an American Pop Artist, born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. His neighbourhood of tall buildings, busy streets, taxi cabs etc., can be seen in many of his colourful paintings.  The fun, happy buildings with bright, bold colours and sharp black outlines are simple but effective. 

With a pencil, draw at least 5-9 buildings. Make sure to overlap a couple of the buildings to add depth. You may wish to base these on styles of local buildings in Troon.

Add fun faces to each building, use the examples below for inspiration. Add fun details such as clouds, sun, moon, windows, doors, etc. then neatly outline with a

black Sharpie. Finally, add a splash of colour, this may be paint, pencil, crayon or pen.

Share your completed pictures on Teams.

We would like you to upload your completed illustration on the assignment tab on Microsoft Teams.

Wellbeing Craft-Things to Look Forward to Jar

Having things to look forward to can make us feel happier and improve our mental wellbeing.

Use the craft instructions to create your own wellbeing jar.

Follow the steps on the attached template to create your own personal jar.

Share pictures of your jar on the teams page.

You may wish to keep this in your bedroom and open when the time is right.

Class Catch-up: On Tuesday log-on to Microsoft Teams and have a chat with your friends in your class. It would be great to hear from you all and TRY TO GET A FRIEND ONLINE TOO. (Wednesday 12pm-12:30pm)
