Mental ArithmeticNumber Talks Check Up Week

Try to get into Teams – you can go in through Glow on a web browser, or you can download the app in the app store or play store – it looks like this:
We have a new channel in our P4 Teams where I will post your tasks – it’s called Announcements – don’t forget to check it!
Don’t forget you can still read 1st News – the online version of the newspaper is on the school website and in Files on Teams.
Remember to check your Glow email if you can! Log into Glow then check the Outlook tile.
Don’t forget Sumdog – contact me if you need a login reminder. There are spelling and maths tasks for you to complete and a times table competition.
How did your crystals go? Mine are growing in my kitchen – the instructions said leave them for a week – my week is up on Monday 18th May so I will put a picture up on Teams when they are finished! This week, you could try a salt rainbow – see the picture below.

Fire Arrows and Pascals – Alphabetical Order
Here is a reminder both of alphabetical order and of the letter formation you should be using.
Rewrite your spelling lists in alphabetical order – strive for neatest handwriting possible.
Challenge! Use your own dictionary or an online dictionary like http://wordcentral.com/ to look up your spelling words and find out their meaning. You could write out their meaning or use each word in a sentence.
Remember if you use word online in Glow, you can listen to immersive reader read out your sentences!

Writing Skills - Homophones
Task 1 – make a list of all the homophones you can think of. Check spelling!
Task 2 - Complete the task sheet below – you can just do this in your jotter or a piece of paper – find a homophone for each word.
Task 3 – Can you think up 5 sentences which have pairs of homophones in them? For example:
I ate a pear while I was wearing my new pair of shoes.

Finding fractions of a quantity

Look at the Scottish seascape paintings in the link http://www.scottishartpaintings.co.uk/seascape-paintings.asp or any others you might be able to find.
1. Which artist was your favourite and why?2. Do you have any pictures like this in your house, or have you ever seen
them anywhere else?3. Which ocean do you think these artists are probably painting and
drawing?4. Do you ever walk/cycle/scoot at the seaside during your daily exercise?5. Have you ever walked along a beach? Where was it?6. Can you draw or paint a seascape picture? Or even share a photograph
you have taken? The photographs I have shared are all ones I have taken at Troon or Barassie beach recently.
