Here is a FREE sample (taken from various pages of my larger reading packets) of a syllable type reading game that students
can play. Included is a game board and 30 word cards. There are 6 syllables in the English Language: Closed, Vowel-
Consonant-e, r-Controlled, Open, Vowel Teams, and Final Stable.
This reading approach gives students 6 consistent reading strategies to put in their reading toolbox. Once students can differentiate the 6 syllable types in reading, they will grow to be better readers.
If you would like more in depth information on syllable type reading along with more fun games, visit my TpT Store:

Blockbuster Game Directions: Students draw a syllable word card, and if they can read the word correctly and identify the syllable they draw a line from one dot to
the next. The first player to draw the last line to form a box, claims that box by writing their initials in it. The player who owns the
most boxes wins.
