1.0 PurposeThis method statement covers the casting of blinding concrete described inSection 03300 of the contract specification.

2.0 Scope

This method statement defines the responsibilities and describes the procedureto be implemented during casting of blinding concrete for Parcels 601, 602, 603,225, 05 and 00 series to conform to the approved shop dra!ings, contractspecification and other related standards.

3.0 Responsibilities

3.1 The Site "ngineer shall be responsible for the implementation of the !or#

in accordance !ith this method statement and their responsibilities shall

be, but not limited, to the follo!ing$

3.1.1 Preparation of !or# schedule and casting dra!ing%plan.

3.1.2 &oo#ing and ordering of onl' approved concrete mi( and

preparation of re)uired tools and e)uipment.

3.1.3 *esignating s#illed !or#ers.3.1.+ Supervising the !or# to ensure the !or# is performed properl' in

accordance !ith this method statement and related specification of

the contract document.

3.2 The surve'or shall be responsible for setting out areas and levels for the

blinding concrete and surve' chec# during casting.

3.3 The Site "ngineer and ualit' -ontrol "ngineer shall continuousl' monitor

all activities related to the !or# if implemented in accordance !ith this

method statement.

4.0 Materials

+.1 -oncrete shall be ordered from approved concrete suppliers and concrete

shall be$

+.1.1 10 S/- for parcels 601, 602, 603, 225, 05

+.1.2 250 S/- for parcels 00 series

5.0 Preparatory works

5.1 casting dra!ing%plan sho!ing area for casting and concrete pump

locations shall be prepared and shall be submitted to the "ngineers

/epresentative for approval.

5.2 The subgrade shall be leveled and compacted and read' to receive the

blinding concrete.

5.3 coordination meeting shall be held a da' before the casting of the

blinding concrete.

6.0 Methodoloy

6.1 4uide lines and levels as per approved shop dra!ings shall be provided

b' the surve'or.

6.2 orm!or#s shall be installed to compl' !ith the guideline and levels.

6.3 -oncrete pumps shall be located as per casting plan.

6.+ pon arrival of concrete at site, it shall be chec#ed for temperature and

slump and composite samples shall be ta#en as per clause 3.17 of

Section 8882%03300 of the contract specification.6.5 -oncrete shall be monitored and programmed such as no interruption on

arrival of concrete truc# mi(ers at site !ill be encountered.

6.6 -oncrete shall be casted continuousl' to avoid cold 9oints.

6.: -asted concrete shall be leveled as per the re)uired elevation and level

shall be regularl' chec#ed b' the surve'or.

6. The casted concrete shall be finished b' po!er floats.

6.7 The freshl' casted shall be protected from premature dr'ing as per clause

3.13 of Section 8882%03300 of the contract specification.

:.1 The concrete blinding !or#s shall be offered for the "ngineers

/epresentatives inspection and approval on the follo!ing stages$

:.1.1 Subgrade preparation

:.1.2 orm!or#s installation prior to casting.

:.2 "ngineers /epresentative to !itness fresh concrete chec#ing andcomposite sampling, and the compressive strength testing of composite

samples.
