My dear parishioners, Happy Feast of Pentecost! Fifty days ago we celebrated Easter Sunday, the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we recall how the Holy Spirit first de-scended on the Apostles and the Blessed Mother, giving them the courage to go out and proclaim the Gospel. We have received that same Holy Spirit at our Baptism and our Confir-mation. Sometimes that Holy Spirit needs to be awakened within us. One great image that helped me to understand that was how I use to make chocolate milk as a kid. To make chocolate milk, you would add chocolate syrup to the milk, but it just ends up on the bottom of the glass. In order for it to become chocolate milk, you had to stir it up. We all have the Holy Spirit by virtue of the sacraments, but sometimes we need to stir it up. How do we stir up the Holy Spirit in our lives? One big way is to attend a Life in the Spirit seminar like our Span-ish charismatic group has been hosting the last few weeks. They give talks on the gifts of the Holy Spirit, on prayer, etc. Then at the end of the seminar there is usually a prayer ser-vice when we invite the Holy Spirit to come upon individuals to stir things up. This has also been called “baptism of the Holy Spirit” or “effusion of the Holy Spirit.” Many different groups or parishes host these seminars. I have attended ab-breviated ones for many years at the Priest, Deacon, Seminar-ian Conferences in Steubenville, Ohio. They have been beau-tiful moments of grace for those who have attended them. Another way is just to invite the Holy Spirit deeper into our lives. We can say different prayers asking the Holy Spirit to stir things up in our lives, to help us to pray better, to be open to the Father’s will. There are special prayers, nove-nas and litanies to the Holy Spirit. As a way to help you un-derstand the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives, I invite you to watch a series of short videos done by Fr. Dave Pinvonka, TOR, a Third Order Franciscan who hosts the conferences that I attend each June. The series is called The Wild Goose and you can find the videos at this website: http://thewildgooseisloose.com. There are fourteen videos that can help you to have a deeper relationship with the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Most Holy Trinity. celebramos el Domingo de Pascua, la Resurrección de nuestro Señor Jesucristo de entre los muertos. Ahora recor-damos como el Espíritu Santo primero descendió en los Apóstoles y a la Santísima Madre, dándoles el valor de salir y proclamar el Evangelio. Hemos recibido el mismo Espíri-tu Santo en nuestro Bautizo y en nuestra Confirmación. A veces el Espíritu Santo necesita despertarse en nosotros. Una gran imagen que me ayudó entenderlo es cuando de niño preparaba leche de chocolate. Para hacer leche de cho-colate, agregas miel de chocolate a la leche, y se siente aba-jo dentro el vaso. Para que sea leche de chocolate tienes que revolverlo. Todos tenemos el Espíritu Santo por la virtud de los sacramentos, pero a veces necesitamos revolverlo. ¿Cómo revolvemos el Espíritu Santo en nuestras vidas? Una manera grande es asistiendo al seminario Vida en el Espíritu como el grupo carismático español que ha estado presentando las últimas semanas. Ellos dan charlas sobre los dones del Espíritu Santo, en oración, etc. Después al terminar el seminario usualmente hay un servicio de ora-ción donde invitamos al Espíritu Santo entrar a los indivi-duos. Esto también se llama el “bautizo del Espíritu Santo” o “la efusión del Espíritu Santo”. Muchos grupos diferentes o parroquias presentan esto seminarios. He asistido a semi-narios abreviados por muchos años en las conferencias de sacerdotes, diáconos, y seminaristas en Steubenville, Ohio. Han sido momentos hermosos de gracia para los que han asistido. Otra manera es con solo invitar al Espíritu Santo profundamente en nuestras vidas. Podemos orar diferentes oraciones pidiéndole al Espíritu Santo revolver las cosas en nuestra vida, que nos ayude a orar mejor, que estemos dis-puestos a la voluntad del Padre. Hay oraciones especiales, novenas y letanías al Espíritu Santo. Daily Mass A reminder that starting Memorial Day, May 30, we will not have the noon daily Mass (Monday – Friday) until after Labor Day. This does not affect the 12 noon

Mass on Sundays. We have many open Mass inten-tions for the rest of the year, therefore the Mass book

for 2017 will not be opened until September.

Save the Dates Deacons Melchizedek and Bristol will be ordained on Saturday, June 4th at 11 am at St. Joseph’s Co-Cathedral, which you can watch on NetTV, channel 97 on Time Warner cable or channel 48 on Fios. Deacon Melchizedek will celebrate his first Mass here at St. Mary’s on Sunday, June 5th at the 10 am. A small reception and first blessings will be available in the parish room after the Mass. Deacon Bristol will return on Sunday, June 19 (Father’s Day) to cele-brate the 10 am Mass. We will also have a reception and an opportunity to receive his first priestly blessing after the Mass. Please pray for them during this last month of prepara-tion.

Welcome! We welcome seminarian Michael Ugbor to our parish for

the summer. Michael officially begins his time with us this Saturday, May 14 and continues to July 22. He is

completing third theology and God willing, will be ordained a priest next June.

Parish Feast Day The feast day of Blessed Virgin Mary, Help of Christians is May 24th. This year we would like to

celebrate the feast on that day. On Tuesday, May 24 at 7 pm, the

First Holy Communion children will lead us in the May Crowning

of Mary. At 7:30 pm, we will have a special bilingual Mass in

honor of our patroness. All parishioners are invited to attend.

El Círculo de Oración Todos los martes de 7pm a 9 pm en el sótano de la iglesia tenemos un seminario en el Espíritu Santo.

Este seminario es de ocho semanas. Vengan todos a escuchar la palabra de Dios.

Un recordatorio para el Día de los Caídos, el 30 de mayo, no tendremos Misa diaria de las 12 del medio-

día (lunes a viernes) hasta el Día del Trabajo. Esto NO afectará la Misa de los domingos. Tenemos

muchas Misa abiertas para intenciones para el resto de este año, así que el libro de Misas para el 2017 no se

abrirá si no hasta septiembre.

Aparta la fecha Los diáconos Melchizedek y Bristol serán ordenados

aquí en María Auxiliadora el domingo, 5 de junio a las 10am. Habrá una pequeña recepción y la primera

bendición en el salón parroquial después de la Misa. El diácono Bristol regresará el domingo, 19 de junio

(Día de los Padres) para celebrar la Misa de las 10am. También tendremos una recepción y la oportunidad de recibir su primera bendición como sacerdote después

de la Misa. Por favor oren por ellos durante este último mes de preparación.

Festividad De la Parroquia La festividad de María Auxilia-dora es el 24 de mayo. Este año nos gustaría celebrar la festivi-dad ese mismo día. El martes,

24 de mayo a las 7pm, los niños de la Primera Comunión

nos acompañaran a la Coronación de María. A las 7:30pm tendremos una Misa bilingüe especial en honor a nuestra patrona. Todos los feligreses están invitados a
