My dear parishioners,
Happy Easter! Happy Divine Mercy Sunday! It is a most glorious time for us as a Catholic people. The wonderful celebrations we had during Holy Week and the Easter Triduum plunged us into the Paschal Mystery, that is the Passion, Death and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. We had inspiring celebrations here at our beautiful parish. From Palm Sunday, Reconciliation Monday, Passion of Mary on Wednesday, Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday, the Stations of the Cross both in the church and in the streets on Good Friday along with the Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion, the glorious Easter Vigil with twelve baptisms and the enthusiastic celebrations on Easter Sunday, we gave a great wit-ness to our God who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I am grateful to all those who worked hard make these celebrations worthy and beautiful. You all noticed the Easter surprise in our church with the new Saint John Paul II shrine. The shrine consists of a six-foot statue of St. John Paul II that was made in Colombia and two plaques, one of his coat of arms with the motto “Totus Tuus” and a plaque of St. Faustina, which are wood-carved and come from Italy. The entire shrine is dedicated in loving memory of Joseph and Nora Cavanagh, who were long-time faithful parishioners of St. Mary’s. Saint John Paul II was canonized by Pope Francis on April 27, 2014 and was one of the greatest figures of the twenti-eth century. The first saint he canonized in the Third Millennium (Year 2000) was St. Faustina, the apostle of Divine Mercy. St. John Paul II also declared that the Sunday after Easter Sunday would now be known as Divine Mercy Sunday. The motto of his coat of arms, “Totus Tuus,” translated means “Totally Yours.” It comes from the Consecration to Mary of St. Louis de Montfort and the whole line from the work translates "I belong entirely to you, and all that I have is yours. I take you for my all. O Mary, give me your heart.” As you can see it fits very well in our church with the quote on our altar which is also from St. Louis de Mont-fort “Ad Jesum Per Mariam,” or “To Jesus, through Mary.” Saint John Paul II dedicated his entire pontificate to the Blessed Mother, hence the “M” at the bottom right hand of the shield. The shrine will be blessed at the 10 am Mass by Bishop James Massa, Moderator of the Curia for the Diocese of Brooklyn, on Sunday, April 17 as part of the pastoral visit. He will also meet with the finance and parish pastoral councils after the Mass. Please join us for this celebration, which is also our next family Mass. God bless you all, Fr. O’Connor

¡Feliz Pascua! ¡Feliz Domingo de la Divina Misericor-dia! Es un tiempo glorioso para nosotros como gente Católica. Las celebraciones maravillosas que tuvimos durante Semana Santa y en el Triduo Pascual nos sumergieron en el Misterio Pascual, que es la Pasión, Muerte y Resurrección de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Tuvimos celebraciones inspirantes aquí en nuestra hermosa parroquia. Desde Domingo de Ramos, Lunes de Reconciliación, La Pasión de María el miércoles, Misa de la Cena del Señor el Jueves Santo, el Viacrucis en la iglesia y en las calles el Viernes Santo junto a la Liturgia de la Pasión del Señor, la gloriosa Vigilia Pascual con doce bautizos y las entusiasta cele-braciones el Domingo de Pascua, nosotros dimos gran testimonio a nuestro Dios quien es Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo. Estoy agra-decido con todos los que trabajaron duro para hacer estas celebra-ciones hermosas y que valieran la pena. Se habrán dado cuenta la sorpresa de Pascua en nuestra iglesia con el nuevo santuario de San Juan Pablo II. La estatua consiste de una estatua de seis pies de San Juan Pablo II que fue hecho en Colombia y dos placas, una de las capas de su brazo tiene el lema “Totus Tuus” y una placa de Santa Faustina, que son tallados de madera y vienen de Italia. El santuario completo está dedicado en memoria de Joseph y Nora Cavanagh, quienes fueron feligreses fieles de mucho tiempo de María Auxiliadora. San Juan Pablo II fue canonizado por el Papa Francisco el 27 de abril del 2014 y fue una de las grandes figuras del siglo veinte. El primer santo que canonizó en el Tercer Milenio (Año 2000) fue Santa Faustina, la apóstol de la Divina Misericordia. San Juan Pablo II también declaró que el domingo después del Domingo de Pascua ahora será conocido como el Domingo de la Divina Misericordia. El lema de la capa de su brazo, “Totus Tuus”, traducido significa “Totalmente tuyo”. Viene de la Consagración de María de San Luis de Monteforte y la línea entera del trabajo se traduce “Pertenezco completamente a ti, y todo lo que tengo es tuyo. Te llevo por mi todo. Oh María, dame tu corazón.” Como pueden ver queda muy bien en nuestra iglesia con la cita de nues-tro altar que también viene de San Luis de Monteforte “Ad Jesum Per Mariam” o “A Jesús, Por María”. San Juan Pablo II dedicó su pontífice entera a la Santa Madre, por eso está la “M” abajo del lado derecho del escudo. El santuario será bendecido en la Misa de las 10am por el Obispo James Massa, Moderador de la Curia de la Diócesis de Brooklyn, el domingo, 17 de abril como parte de su visita pastoral. También conocerá al concejo pastoral y financiero después de la Misa. Por favor acompáñenos a esta celebración, que también será nuestra próxima Misa familiar. Dios los bendiga a todos, Fr. O’Connor

Upgrades in our parish Right before Palm Sunday, we had an upgrade done to our sound system. Several parishioners had complained about not being able to hear in certain parts of the church. All the speakers have been replaced and new ones were relocated in the front of the church. The technology was the same used for the Papal Mass of Pope Francis in Philadelphia last year. More tweaking was done during Holy Week with the micro-phones to better adapt to our church. The sound system was also connected to our digital carillon bell system so that what is broadcast in church can also be broadcasted outside. We can also use our wireless microphones outside to broadcast outside and inside the church. Another upgrade was the outdoor lighting in the front of the church. The sixty-year old wiring for the outdoor light posts had rotted away and became impossible to repair. In-stead of reusing the light posts, new LED lights were mounted on the façade of the church, which lights up the façade, the steps and part of the plaza in front of the church. The center light can change colors and illuminate the large cross on the façade of the church. Please check it out when you drive by at night.

Each and every one of us belongs to the King. We each are cherished members of God’s royal family. We have been given a purpose far
greater than we can ever comprehend and were created to be glorious, beautiful and valuable because we are Daughters of the King.
WE BEGAN March 31st. We invite each young lady, 13yrs old and
older to come and hear about True Love and to learn more about what it
means to be a Daughter of The King. We meet from 6pm to 8pm every Thursday for 10 weeks.
When Prayerfully Considering Your Sacrificial Commit-ment:
♦ Remember…a pledge allows you to consider a larger commitment, and can be paid over a period of five years (60 months).
♦ Remember…while we do not know your unique financial situation; please consider a pledge to the campaign commensurate with your ability.
♦ Remember…a pledge is a good faith commitment, but is not legally binding. If circumstances change in the future, you can adjust your payment schedule or balance ac-cordingly.
♦ Remember…complete a pledge card, so that the gift is recorded. You will be mailed a payment information form in the coming weeks, and reminded on subsequent pay-ments on the schedule you request.
At this point, everyone should have received their cam-paign information! If you have not, please pickup your information from the Generations of Faith table after Mass, or during the week, in the Parish Office.
Mass of Hope and Healing Survivors of Sexual abuse by members of the Clergy and the Diocese of Brook-lyn will be sponsoring a Mass of Hope and Healing, Thursday April 12, 2016,
7:00PM, at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church (located on 110-06 Queens Blvd., in Forest Hills). The main celebrant will be Most Reverend Nicholas
DiMarzio. All are invited to gather on this day, to pray for healing for all those who have been impacted by childhood sexual abuse.

Renovaciones en nuestra parroquia Justo antes del Domingo de Palmas, renovamos nues-
tro sistema de sonido. Varios feligreses se quejaron de no haber podido escuchar en ciertas partes de la iglesia. Todas las bocinas fueron reemplazadas y las nuevas fueron reubicadas en frente la iglesia. La tecnología que se uso fue la misma como la Misa Papal del Papa Francisco en Filadelfia del año pasado. Se hicieron más modificaciones con los micrófonos durante la Semana Santa para adaptarse mejor en nuestra igle-sia. El sistema de sonido también era conexión a nuestro ca-rillón digital de sistema de campana para que lo que se trans-mita en la iglesia también se transmita afuera. También pode-mos usar nuestros micrófonos inalámbricos afuera para trans-mitir afuera y adentro la iglesia. Otra renovación que se hizo fue la iluminación de afuera en frente de la iglesia. El cableado eléctrico de sesenta años para los postes de luz de afuera se deterioró y fue imposi-ble repararlo. En vez de rehusar los postes de luz, nuevas lu-ces LED fueron montados en la portada de la iglesia, ilumina la portada, los escalones y parte de la plaza de enfrente de la iglesia. La luz central cambia de colores e ilumina la cruz grande en la portada de la iglesia. Por favor échenle un vistazo cuando manejen de noche.

valiosos porque somos una Hija del Rey.
YA COMENZAMOS el 31 de marzo! Invitamos a todas las jovencitas de 13 años en adelante para venir y escuchar sobre el Verdadero Amor y para aprender más sobre el significado de ser Hija del Rey.
Nos reunimos de 6pm a 8pm todos los jueves por 10 semanas.

Misa de Esperanza y Sanación Sobrevivientes de Abuso Sexual cometido por miembros del Clero y la
Diócesis de Brooklyn, están patrocinando la Misa de Esperanza y Sanación que se realizara el jueves, 21 de abril, 2016 a las 7:00PM en la Iglesia de
Nuestra Señora Reina de Mártires (localizada en el 110-06 Queens Blvd., en Forest Hills). La Misa será celebrada por el Msñr. Nicholas DiMarzio,
Obispo de Brookyln. Todos están invitados a reunirse en este día, para orar por la sanación de todos los que han sido impactados por el abuso sexual de
niños.
