St. Paul echoes Christ in many ways. In the 13th Chapter from his letter to the Ro-
mans, he continues with his thoughts on how we should live to please God, and he uses a sentence which Christ often repeated. After listing several of the 10 Com-mandments, Paul states, “…whatever other commandments there may be, are summed up in this saying, namely, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself’.”
There is always much that gets debated in that admonition, such as loving yourself, and who exactly is your neighbor? Paul’s point, like that of Jesus, is simply that we are called to treat others as we may like to be treated. We need to show them the re-spect and caring that we may hope for and wish for. God loves us, and if we realize that, we may ultimately come to the conclusion that we are loveable.
Most of us know someone whose love is evident by how they treat others and how they live. Loving neighbor is a visible expression of everything that Jesus taught. It is a way of expressing the depth of our faith and our belief that we are Disciples of Christ.
St. Francis de Sales captured all about what this love is and who is your neighbor when he wrote, “Examine your heart often to see if it is such toward your neighbor as you would like his or hers to be toward you in his or her place. This is the touchstone of true reason.” It is relatively basic and simple — our neighbor is everyone with whom we have contact and love is what makes it all work. STUDENTS RECEIVING THE SACRAMENTS AT
BLESSED TRINITY
Mass participation is a big part of the faith formation of a child.
Students in our G.I.F.T. program and Blessed Trinity School
who are receiving a sacrament this year are asked to attend
Mass weekly. After Mass STUDENTS will be asked to have a
“Mass Attendance” form signed by the officiating priest or
deacon. These forms can be picked up upon leaving the
church from the bulletin cart. Please make sure the date,
your name, and the teacher are listed. These forms will be
turned in on a weekly basis to your classroom teacher or
G.I. F.T. teacher. If you are visiting a church other than
Blessed Trinity, please have a bulletin from that church
signed by the officiating priest and return it to your teacher.
Teachers will be monitoring attendance beginning this
weekend.
THIS IS BIG!
The Diocese of Orlando is celebrating 50 years as a
diocese in 2018. To prepare for this celebration, each
parish in the diocese is being asked to highlight their
own parish’s history as well. Blessed Trinity has a rich
history going back over 100 years, first as St. Philip
Neri Church and since 1922 under the name of Blessed
Trinity. To prepare our celebration, we are asking
anyone who has pictures and/or memorabilia relating
to Blessed Trinity to loan us what you have. We are
also interested in having you relate any stories you
have about Blessed Trinity. If you can help us out,
please contact Liz Cook at 352-629-8092 or
During the weekend of September 16, baby bottles will be available after each Mass. All donations will benefit Alpha Center for Women, an Ocala pregnancy resource center that offers life-affirming alternatives to abortion, material support during and after pregnancy, post-abortion recovery and a mentoring program for parents in need. From 2006 to present, the generous parishioners of Blessed Trinity have contributed over $70,000.00! Since the closing of the Ocala abortion facility in 2016, we have experienced an increase in clients seeking abortion. Thankfully, when we provided the facts regarding all aspects of abortion, 83% of these moms chose LIFE for their babies! We pray you will continue to support this hope-giving ministry.

HOW WILL YOU PASS ON YOUR
CATHOLIC LEGACY?
Just as we plan to ensure financial health for our
families, we must plan for the health of our “faith
families.” Your planned gift to our Endowment
Fund of Blessed Trinity will provide financial
support for generations to come. It’s a wonderful
way to steward your finances and pass along your
faith and love for Blessed Trinity. You have a
wonderful Catholic legacy. Pass it On! To learn more about the advantages of making a
planned gift to The Blessed Trinity Endowment Fund for
the benefit of our church, please contact Colleen
Halstead at 352-629-8092 ext. 3218.
PEACE & SOCIAL JUSTICE Fair Trade builds direct relationships between us and disadvantaged farmers mostly in Asia, Africa, India, Latin America & Palestine. We buy the coffee, tea, hot chocolate cocoa & olive oil from Equal Exchange, a Fair Trade company who participates in the Catholic Relief Services Fair Trade Program. By buying these fairly traded products, you cut out the middlemen and Equal Exchange pays the farmers more money, helping to fight poverty. We now have Single Serve Coffee. We are selling all these products after Mass this weekend.
THE COVENANT MISSION TEAM (CMT) will be starting
up again for the 2017-2018 season. The first meeting of the year will be at 7:00pm on September 12th in the Parish Hall. We will meet on the second Tuesday of every month for about an hour. Our team travels to a country in Central America or the Caribbean each year in June to a community in need. On these trips, we immerse ourselves into the community by holding bible school for school age children, engage in construction projects and reach out to the local people for fellowship. These trips are both challenging and extremely rewarding. If you feel that God is calling you to mission work, then please come to this first meeting to discover more about who we are and what we do. If you have specific questions, please contact Phil Brescia at 352-361-6905 or Veronica Chancery at 352-875-6423.
We pray for those experiencing devastation
from Hurricane Harvey. God, our Father,
Eternal and Omnipotent,
Creator and Lord of the Universe,
you have set the earth on its foundation
and all elements of nature obey your command.
You give food to all flesh,
cover the heavens with clouds,
and provide rain to the earth -
We humbly beseech you
Lord, Most High,
to keep us safe from all dangers
and to calm all the storms of life that threaten us:
especially the attack of whirlwinds and tornadoes,
the calamity and destruction of hurricanes,
the din and damage of hail storms,
the striking of thunderbolts and lightning,
and the devastation of floods and tidal waves.
May we be secure in your loving protection,
seek your Will in all our experiences,
and serve you always with grateful hearts.
We ask this through our Lord, Jesus Christ,
Your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy
Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

COMMENTS TO THE COMMENT BOX
More congregational singing/playing older songs on the organ: An attempt has been made to integrate older hymns and to play them on the organ. I will continue to try to maintain a balance of old/new, piano/organ hymnody.
Old Backgrounds on the Projector: We will try to clean up some of the older images and refresh them.
Inappropriate Picture of Jesus during Communion: A new, more inclusive picture of Jesus during Communion will be used, one that is designed using faces from all races, cultures, and ethnicities.
Use only Instrumental Music during Communion: Taken from Sing to the Lord, no. 189, and the General Instruction for the Roman Missal, no, 86.
“While the priest is receiving the Sacrament, the Communion chant [or song] is begun. Its purpose is to express the communicants’ union in spirit by means of the unity of their voices, to show joy of heart, and to highlight more clearly the ‘communitarian’ nature of the procession to receive Communion.” The singing begins immediately and continues “for as long as the Sacrament is being administered to the faithful.” … Because the Communion chant expresses the unity of those processing and receiving the Holy Sacrament, communal singing is commendable. The singing of the people should be preeminent.
