Meditation/Meditación 4 PRINCIPIOS O 4 RAZONES DE CABALLEROS DE COLON
4 PRINCIPLES, 4 REASONS OF KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
TO CELEBRATED OUR INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL
This Sunday we are celebra ng our Interna onal Fes-val. The fes val is a blessed occasion to introduce our
church to the public, provide an event for members of the parish to socialize, and strengthen the bonds between church and community. Also, this is a marvelous oppor-tunity let our parishioners try out their skills and ar s c talents. All the good works the Knights of Columbus do are informed by four core principles: Charity – Our Catholic faith teaches us to “Love thy neigh-bor as thyself.” Members of the Knights of Columbus show love for their neighbors by conduc ng food drives and dona ng the food to local soup kitchens and food pantries, by volunteering at Special Olympics, and by sup-por ng, both spiritually and materially, mothers who choose life for their babies. Knights recognize that our mission, and our faith in God, compels us to ac on. There is no be er way to experience love and compassion than by helping those in need, a call we answer every day. Unity – None of us is as good as all of us. Members of the Knights of Columbus all know that – together – we can accomplish far more than any of us could individually. So we s ck together…we support one another. That doesn’t mean that we always agree or that there is never a differ-ence of opinion. It does mean that – as a Knight of Colum-bus – you can count on the support and encouragement of your brother Knights as you work to make life be er in your parish and community. Fraternity – Venerable Michael J. McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus, in large part, to provide assistance to the widows and children le behind when the family breadwinner died – o en prematurely. The Order’s top-rated insurance program con nues to do this today, as do the good works of individual Knights, who gave more than 73.5 million service hours in 2015, illustra ng how Catho-lics serve each other in fraternity and mercy. Patrio sm – Members of the Knights of Columbus, be they Americans, Canadians, Mexicans, Cubans, Filipinos, Poles, or Dominicans, are patrio c ci zens. We are proud of our devo on to God and country, and believe in stand-ing up for both. Whether it’s in public or private, the Knights remind the world that Catholics support their na-ons and are amongst the greatest ci zens.
