Christmas Program & Soup Supper/Silent Auction/Quilt Raffle: Sunday, December 8, 4:30 p.m. Church/Jubilee Center. Join us for the preschool program, delicious soups, silent auction prizes and quilt raffle.

RELIGIOUS FORMATION NEWS Edgar Barge Memorial Scholarships: Blessed Sacrament will award scholarships in the amount of $1000 and $500 to two seniors, who are registered members of Blessed Sacrament Parish, who have been confirmed and attend Mass regularly, and who will be graduating from high school in 2020. Applicants need to be going on to a post-secondary educational institution to apply. These scholarships are designed to reward and recognize seniors for their volunteer service and involvement in parish, school and community. The Greater Grand Island Community Foundation Distribution Committee (an independent, impartial board, located outside of the parish) will review all scholarship applications and will recommend recipients to Blessed Sacrament Church. Application instructions are available in the Parish Office or from Deb Wetzel. All applications must be completed online at www.gicf.org and click on the scholarship tab. The application process opens on December 1. Completed applications must be electronically submitted on or before February 10 at midnight. No faxes, emails, or paper applications will be permitted. Scholarship winners will be announced at the 10:00 a.m. Mass on March 29, 2020. 4th Grade Communal Reconciliation, December 15, 7:00 p.m., church. All parents and 4th grade students should meet promptly at 6:30 p.m. in the Jubilee Center for a short meeting prior to this Reconciliation Service. Baptism Preparation Class, Tuesday, December 10, at 7:00 p.m. in the Family Room. This is for parents, and godparents) preparing for the Baptism of their baby. This class is required, unless you have already taken the class within the past year. Please call Deb Wetzel at 395-8521 to register no later than December 9. If we don’t have any registrations, the class won’t be held.

Retirement Fund for Religious –Aging Religious Need Your Help: Give in thanksgiving. “The nuns left lasting impressions on me,” writes a donor. “I shall always be grateful for my Catholic education.” Please join in thanking the thousands of senior Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests who worked tirelessly to educate the young and serve those in need. Next week’s second collection is for the Retirement Fund for Religious, which helps hundreds of religious communities care for aging members. Please give generously.

We received the movie, Unplanned (based on a true story) about abortion from the Diocese of Grand Island. We have one copy available in the parish office. Anyone over the age of 17 may check this out for their personal viewing.

The Red Cross Blood Drive: Will be at Blessed Sacrament on Thursday, December 12, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For an appointment, you may call Mary Phelan at 382-0311, or you can go online at RedCross.org.

Nebraska Walk for Life: We are excited to announce that a chartered bus will be available for 57 participants to travel to the State Capitol building on Saturday, January 18, 2020, for NEBRASKA WALK

FOR LIFE. A sign-up sheet is available in the Gathering Area for reserving your seat. There is no cost, but you are encouraged to donate $10 per seat, which will be forwarded to Nebraska Right to Life. You may remit your donations to the Parish Office.
